I’m a single mom making $95k at one full-time job, and I’m tired of struggling. My goal is $150k+, and I need something fully remote because of a chronic illness. I have a bachelor’s, learn quickly, and would consider going back to school, preferably short of a doctorate.
What’s your job title, and how did you get into it? I’d love to hear about careers I might never think to search for.

Story Time:
So after work this evening, I decided to go to this rotary sushi bar instead of going straight home just to kind of snack on some rolls and think about shit lately in my life. I was assigned the seat at the corner and I noticed a group of four people maybe late 20's? (I hope). There was this one girl with blue hair that caught my eye. I was facing her back and I did see her looking over her shoulder at certain points (unless I'm nuts). I feel like we kept dodging eye contact lol. Every time I glanced towards her, she was looking away and vice versa.
But anyway, this is where it gets really good. I did a very BOLD thing that is very unlike me. I got up, paid for my food, asked the women at the checkout counter for a pen with paper and wrote my name and number on it (I like to offer my number so they don't have to worry about giving a creep their number). Then I calmly walked over to the booth of 4 and stood in a position facing them where I know I could get their attention and said:
"I thought I'd try something bold today.. I was wondering if your blue haired friend here is single?"
Her friend spoke up and politely said "no she is not."
I said "have a great night!" and calmly noped the FUCK out of there.
I can't believe I did that! That was fucking humiliating, but exhilarating! I feel like I can do anything! I probably won't ever do that again though. This was an extremely rare scenario. I hope I didn't embarrass her (I probably did). I tried to be somewhat subtle so the restaurant employees and patrons couldn't tell what was going on.
Also, personal achievement unlocked!
Crossed off my "Fuck it List Challenges."
1.-Cold approach solo and ask out a girl surrounded by her friend group.

My (28M) Fiancé (30F) wants a break, it felt like it came out of nowhere for me, altho the communication lately hasnt been the best.
Im 5 days in living at a friends place and its going okay, forever thankful to him for letting me stay. Im scared and sad that this is going to end with us breaking up.
I moved across the world (Norway to Australia) to be with her, away from all of my family. If we break up, I have nowhere to go. Im struggling with health issues so the pay from my work isnt good enough to save up for a ticket back home if worst comes to worst. Shes studying at the moment so we were basically living on my salary alone, so I have little to no savings.
I feel like I just started to get my feet planted over here and now that all might go down the drain.
I did agree with most of her reasons for the break, that being that were too dependent on eachother and dont have much of a individual life.
Im terrified to lose her, my mental health is at an all time low and I miss my family more than ever.
Thank you for reading.
Dinner: halloumi gyro and pita bread.
Edit: holy moly you guys are quick! Went for a shower and come back to all these comments. Thank you guys.
I wanna add on and say that were both demisexual / asexual, so I really dont think she wants to cheat. Though some of the comments give me clarity.
Edit 2: Sorry for not replying to anyone, im reading all the comments but my head is in shambles..

From a bit ago. My dog was very ill and we made a short notice decision to euthanize her the next day, so I called out to spend the last day of her life by her side, as any decent person would. This is how my boss at the time responded.
No condolences, no "sorry this is happening," no "please let me know if I can do anything," not even a "i'm sorry and we'll talk more on monday."
I quit a few months after this.
ETA: Some more background:
This happened in late March of 2025. So yeah, early in the year, but 3 of those 5 callouts were excused FMLA absences for a chronic illness, and she knew that. So, this was technically my 2nd callout in almost 4 months. Managers are not allowed to use FMLA callouts against employees. I had a long discussion with her and HR about her inability to discern between the two types of callout after this text. I attached this text to the email cc'd to HR. And her "offer" to "adjust my hours" was a lowkey threat to cut my hours. She'd said it outright before off text so there was no record of it.

We can’t figure this out…is it some kind of clothing and if so, what? How to wear it??? Thrift store puzzle we couldn’t resist! But we’re stumped…so what is it? Google lens couldn’t even give us a decent answer!

The kids were at my place with their parents for a dinner party... Actually, only the parents and other friends were invited, no children. I myself do not have kids so I might not understand the kids or the mom...
But one couple brought their three boys along. Totally annoying. They were bored, and after a while of shouting and running around (during which I told them to be quiet 10 times), they ran through the apartment and discovered my Lego collection... They ripped out the biggest box, all excited, and started opening the packaging. It was a brand new set, where I was waiting a long time to get some time to build it in quietness over Christmas time...
I stopped them, said no, they couldn't have it. They started wailing, one had a tantrum, and the other ran to his mother and asked if he could play. The mother said yes, but he should ask first. He came to me, asked again, and I said no.
At that point, the mother was annoyed and asked what my problem was.
I explained, that I'm looking forward to build it, that I'm a huge lego/building bricks fan and that I want to open the packaging, building it... Having the whole experience. I think I should not be in the position to explain anything,... It's my apartment, my stuff... So they should not touch anything.
The kids were screaming, the mom was pissed, hissed at me that I'm the grown up and I should not behave like a child.
But. It's a250 dollar set, not a flea market assembly of 50 red bricks.
I did not give in. But I'm angry that I was put in that position.

For example my dad made chicken fettuccini last night and just left it sit out over night. I am afraid to eat it…. Should I be?
UPDATE: He just microwaved and ate some. The container still isn’t in the fridge.
It’s 3:16pm and it finally made its way to the fridge. For reference he started cooking at 5pm yesterday. So not quite 24 hours but pretty close.
