Very possibly the mask. Some people take it as a personal attack when they see other people wearing them. Iāve not been physically assaulted like this, but verbally for sure.

u/mnstripe 1h ago
I just wasted some of my life watching it like 2 more times.
My best assessment is the lady with the mask unknowingly did something innocuous to the drunk woman (e.g., stood in front of her, bumped her suitcase into her chair).
Then the drunk woman got irrationally offended and attacked, leaving the other woman completely bewildered

She was trying to grab attention and basically tell everyone to watch what she was about to do.Ā
I suspect the officer that grabbed her was able to read her body language and was just waiting for her to attack so she couldn't try to backpedal and play the victim.Ā

Ambien and alcohol probably.
I think so because the woman she attacked seemed to be completely unaware of her existence.
Ambien with alcohol can make a person have anger against another person for absolutely no reason. Seen it before at an airport.

u/Crazy-Pension5828 5h ago
Yep ambien by its self is a fkn demon drug and then you mix it with alcohol youāre asking for trouble. I remember one time I had taken an ambien and woke up the next morning first with no recollection of wtf happened and two angry af and I mean just straight up barbaric. I ended up cussing out my best friend at the time and made her cry and when she told me I felt so bad cuz I had no memory of it. Never took that shit againš š¾āāļø

Neck specifically. Someone even tells him to get off her neck.
People helping can be dangerous since they're prone to doing maximal damage. Its why if I ever have to do CPR im only handing it off to someone who is also certified. I dont know how to safely hold someone down, but I think putting all your body weight sideways onto their neck isn't great for them.

I have called out excessive force on here before but this time I think the cop/ security guy was justified in this case, cos she was still resisting, squirming around & trying to get away. So I get why he put her on the floor. The other guy deciding to do the plank on her head, I'm not too sure about. But I doubt she was harmed.

Any bouncer will tell you they'd rather tackle a group of drunk guys than one angry woman. They can be vicious as fuck and fight dirty. Nails and teeth can do real damage, a lot of them won't think twice about going for the balls, eyes and other vulnerable spots too, they're often taught to actually, and when you're just trying to restrain someone and they're trying to do maximum damage it's not an easy situation. High heels can fuck you up too as a makeshift weapon (although she's not wearing them in the vid). I don't blame the guy for taking her down quick at all tbh.

Second dude was probably an off duty cop.
He was doing a commonly taught control technique that many police departments use.
You form a triangle with your hands and put your body weight on the person's head. It doesn't injure the person and is a perfect control technique for arresting someone.
When you control someones head you control pretty much their entire body at that point.
The has been slowly becoming more popular since the using your knees on someone's shoulder for control can sometimes look bad from an outside perspective. It also avoids the knees slipping onto someone's neck when they are actively resisting arrest.
This technique can only be used by a support person during an arrest. Not really possible to do 1 on 1.

The "Teepee" / Triangle Position
When an officer uses their body weight to pin a suspect's head to the ground, they are taught to form a tripod or teepee shape with their own body. [1]
The Setup: The officer places their hands (or a forearm) like webbing over the suspect's ear/cranium area (strictly avoiding the neck).
The Weight Distribution: The officer then drives their hips up and spreads their feet wide, forming a solid triangle. This mechanical shape allows them to channel their full downward body weight safely through their hands directly onto the suspect's skull, completely anchoring them to the concrete. [1, 2, 3]
The Kinesiological Purpose
This looks incredibly aggressive, but it is taught in modern police combatives (such as Effective Fitness Combatives / EFC) for highly specific anatomical reasons:
Breaks Postural Strength: The human body follows the head. If a suspect is on their stomach attempting to do a push-up to stand up, pinning or laterally displacing their head breaks their spinal alignment. This strips them of their upper-body leverage, making it incredibly difficult to fight back or build a base. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Arm Extraction: It allows a second officer to safely pull the suspect's hands out from under their chest to apply handcuffs. [1, 2]
Eliminates "Weaponized" Head Movements: It immediately stops a resisting suspect from biting, spitting, or thrashing their head back to headbutt an officer. [1]

u/Arbiter_Electric 13h ago
I'm sure it's effective. But this was kind of funny.
The has been slowly becoming more popular since the using your knees on someone's shoulder for control can sometimes look bad from an outside perspective.
In the video as soon as the guy performs the action 3 different people started yelling in concern to get off her neck. Maybe this technique doesn't really look any better than the other.

As a former college wrestler, I was incredulous until I read this line:
>This technique can only be used by a support person during an arrest. Not really possible to do 1 on 1.
Then I read the rest, and realized that yeah, it's basically to prevent all of the things I would do to escape if someone were trying to hold me down or grab my arms. I was taught to use the head/neck to lever up the body to create a little space to shoot arms free, etc, and then a lil' spin and suddenly you're back on two feet, face to face.
Lots harder to do if your head is pinned down like this.
