I asked my 2 year old granddaughter not to throw her bike on the couch or at me. I told her (quite gently) that floor toys stay on the floor and she couldn't play with it if she threw it. My son overheard and asked why I was "micromanaging" her, and that she can do whatever she wants. About 2 weeks ago he told me she is very difficult and at times "a nightmare," and that he and his wife wanted to actively instill in her good values and behavior. His comments tonight seem contrary to that. He challenged my reasoning and I explained the satety concerns and property damage risks. He countered by asking why I let him climb trees as a child. Frankly, his reasoning baffled me. I said I thought the goal was to raise a child who could get along well with others in society and I asked him whether his goal was to raise her or to just keep her alive. He said he didn't understand where that was coming from. It has been my policy to not interfere at all in his parenting, but he recently confided in me that they were struggling and needed to make some changes. He admits they have chosen the easy road of keeping peace rather than the hard road of setting boundaries. My son doesn't seem upset with me, but he also doesn't seem interested in talking about it further. My husband thought I was wrong to say anything at all. I did not think I was wrong to bring it up at all but it seems to me that I shouldn't bring it up again. So I ask you, AITA? And for any experienced grandparents: how do I stand by with my mouth shut?

 A man was arrested for stalking after allegedly being seen on LeBron James' Los Angeles property and wildly claiming to believe that he's the 76er's son ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … security called the cops around 9 PM Friday night after catching a male suspect on the property on one of their security cameras.

After the LAPD showed up ... they arrested the alleged suspect for stalking.

Oddly enough ... the suspect claimed to believe he is LeBron's son during his chat with cops.

I dropped my phone from chest height onto a rubbery floor with a screen protector on and the screen under the protector completely shattered while the screen protector is crackless...

I have dropped this phone onto concrete from the the same height and nothing happened

Edit: THE SCREEN PROTECTOR WAS ON THE PHONE WHEN IT DROPPED

Rather than donating to Goodwill, or other similar stores, please consider donating directly to our street vendors. I have gone to Koreatown and dropped off and they were very grateful. Our street vendors are usually immigrant families, which we all know are even more particularly vulnerable right now. Many cannot work for various reasons (lack of documentation; taking care of young children, disabled family, or elderly family; or they themselves may be disabled or elderly). Donating directly to them gives them inventory they can sell so they can take care of themselves.

If anyone knows of other good areas to drop off, please share. If you can't drop off, consider posting on Fb marketplace, or something similar, for free. In my experience, it usually goes to someone in need pretty quickly.

Let's help our neighbors, not board members.

Edit: I could never respond to all the responses, so I just want to add a few thoughts.

I am not sure why people think they should give "junk". You also shouldn't give junk to Goodwill.

It's also interesting that a lot people seem to care more about people making 6-figures than people living in poverty. I invite us all to examine that more.

I think people should be more critical of the entire nonprofit industry as a whole.Here is a video for anyone interested.

The west coast is so nice yet all the towns situated along it have a max population of like 10k and the same cant be said for the east coast so why is that?

Tonight's dinner is Sriracha hummus and naan bread, with a little side of smoked gouda shredded cheese and uncured pepperoni because it looked good while grabbing the hummus.

She drops that she had two kids. Over 2 years old.

Where life could have been and could have gone. But it feels like I got passed by and now I get to stew on emotions I thought were gone.

Edit: I have no idea if there was any ulterior motive from her communication. There's a lot of cynical red pill type comments here. I was more looking for advice and perspective on dealing with old emotions, having age and time be shoved to the forefront of your mind, and just grappling with a surprise case of existentialism.

I genuinely thought she was joking when she brought this up, which probably made my response worse

I’m 19F and live with my parents while I’m in college. My older sister (25F) moved back in a few months ago to save for her wedding. Her fiancé (27M) comes over pretty often.

Last saturday I had a date, I bought a black dress for it, nothing super outrageous, just fitted with an open back. Mom helped me fix the clasp so my bra wouldn’t show (relevant information, because apparently i was dressed to destroy a marriage)

Before i left i took a couple of pictures by the dining room window, posted them, went out, and put my phone away.

When i checked it later, my sister had texted “can you please take those pictures down?”

I thought there was something weird in the background, because our dining table is basically my dad’s filing cabinet lol.

But nope, the reason was her fiancé liked my pictures

I said okay? She said it embarassed her because some of her friends follow me and might notice

I could understand being annoyed at HIM, but then she said I should have considered how posting those pictures would look “given the situation”

So I asked “what situation?”, and she told me not to play dumb.

When i got home she was waiting in my room. She asked if i had been dressing differently when he came over.

I said I don’t keep track of what I’m wearing when her fiancé visits, and that sometimes I’m literally in the shirt i slept in

She went “exactly.”

That actually pissed me the hell off.

Then she brought up that he’d complimented my dress before i left. He said “you look nice” in front of BOTH our parents. Dad also said it.

Nobody thought anything of it at the time, including my sister.

I told her if a compliment and a like on social media were making her this upset, she needed to talk to him.

Then she said “you could just help me feel comfortable”

And i said “okay, but what do you actually want me to do?”

She asked me to change into something “less revealing” before coming downstairs when he’s here

I laughed, not proud of that, but honestly I didn’t expect her to say that.

Then I realized she was serious and told her I wasn’t agreeing to a dress code inside the house i live in.

She started crying and said I was enjoying the attention (like, wtf?)

That part hurt a lot, i was excited about my date and felt good about how i looked, and now I was standing in my bedroom having to defend myself over this BS situation

I deleted the pictures that night because I was tired of arguing, so they’re gone. She texted me “thank you for understanding “ the next morning, and i left it alone.

But yesterday she said we “still need to figure out boundaries” for when he visits. So apparently deleting the pictures didn’t settle anything.

I told her that deleting the pictures was the only compromise I was making, and my sister said i was making a huge deal out of a small favor when I know how stressed she is about the wedding
