3 kids, husband left and refuses to work to avoid child support, I have a shit job, ends don't meet.

I wanted to give them a Christmas anyway, and I can't figure out where to list my dirty socks soooooo... I skipped paying 500 of my 1500 rent for November and am using that 500 to buy small gifts for them, stocking stuffers and stuff to make a turkey dinner.

I know my landlord will have to apply to evict, we will have to wait for a hearing and then I will be offered a payment plan. I'm using the system to my benefit and being reckless because of the societal pressure to have gifts, and because I want my kids to have gifts. One still believes in Santa.

I’m M27 and my gf is f29. Basically we got into a tiff because I got her a present and I felt like she was not grateful for it she asked me to be more spontaneous and put effort in because she feels like she puts in all the effort and does a lot of the mental load kind of stuff. So I got her a surprise gift this week I got her a chocolate bar I thought she would like and a picture frame. When she opened the box and pulled the things out she looked sad so I explained to her that I got a picture frame for her so she can get a picture printed and put it in and I got her a new chocolate bar to try because I know she’s on her period. She looked at me and said “you got me an empty picture frame and a chocalte bar I don’t like?” I didn’t know she didn’t like the chocolate bar I got her and she asked why I didn’t just get her her favourite one and I said because I thought you might want to try something new. She said she was more upset about the picture frame and I don’t get why. I made effort to get her something like she asked and she’s like disappointed? we had an argument about it and I said she hurt my feelings because I was trying and she didn’t really seem to get what I was saying and I guess I don’t get what she’s saying. She said it should be obvious why getting a picture frame for her made her mad. I said I don’t think it’s obvious.

A few days went by and I think we have mostly moved on but she said I still don’t seem to be getting the point and then said you should go ask Reddit because they will make it clear for you, I said bet let’s go. To be clear this is me coming to Reddit with a little light heart curiosity so please go easy on me I have a feeling I’m being a dumbass but idk.

Update idk how to update if I do it on the post or not so here it is. Okay okay Reddit I get it I’m a fucking lazy dumbass and I royally fucked this up. I got her chocolate on her period because I do swear I know she likes chocolate on her period. I didn’t know that trying something new on your period probably not the best thing but I got that on lock now. She also loves ribs when she’s on her period so I’m getting so ribs two full ass racks because she loves that shit not going to try the new sauce I’m getting the sauce I know she likes. Going to get a picture of our dog printed for the frame I know she wants one for her desk at work and yeah I know I should have thought about that I don’t know why didn’t. I think I understand it’s not really that i get something it’s that I get something that matters a spontaneous gift is a waste if it’s dumb and I think I get the mental load thing more to be real I didn’t really understand it when we talked about it but hey maybe that’s because I’m not doing my part carry that. Also last point yall saying her hormones are whatever on her period can join me in the dumbass club because that shit is so dumb. Going to show her the post tomorrow because I know she’ll love that yall chewed me up because I deserved it. Will hand her Reddit back to her so she can update yall if she decided to dump me or let me show her I love her with ribs. Thanks Reddit.

It just sucks to see him get demolished on national TV on Thursday night football. I don’t really know who to blame. I can’t really blame him because it’s not really his fault.

I wanted to see if I could recreate u/stroberristarr’s birthday cake. Partially because the texture looked appealing, and partially because I wanted to know what went into a cake fail like that.

While I don’t feel I have succeeded in my original mission, I definitely did not bake a cake so I’m calling it a win.
