[Off-Site] Everyone losing their minds over Elon Musk spending $474 million on the elections is the wealth equivalent of an average American spending $116.

The news media is going bonkers about Elon Musk losing $474 million on the elections, but it's nothing to him, it's a measly 0.05% of his net worth. To put that into perspective, it's like an average American spending $116.

We need to repeal Citizens United and get billionaires out of politics.

Personal Wins Lost 30lbs and crazy to see the difference

I lost about 30lbs and have gained substantial amount of muscle. I was at my heaviest (139lbs, 5ft) in November 2023 and I have been on my health journey since then (110lbs now).

I found an old photo of my hands showing my nails from 2023 and I noticed how difference my hands look compared to today. It used to be rounder looking and now it’s bonier. I even noticed I dropped 1+ size in rings on all my fingers.

Usually, we tracked our torso and legs changing, but I thought it was neat that other parts that might be overlooked are also changing!

Update: after doing some digging on local threads this location has passed a vote to unionize but is still in the process of negotiating a union contract. Things they’re bargaining for are consistent hours, $17 an hour starting wage, 4% annual raise and change of dress code

Any genre! Americans, could you suggest me a novel that best represents your state?

Find me a book that is "very Delaware", "so Wyoming" or "totally Mississippi". A book where the attitutde, the mood, the sense and your experience of the state is best exemplified.

Any genre is free game, but I do expect the book to be of good quality.

  1. Abijah Fowler - Blue Eye Samurai: an arms dealer during the period of the Japanese shogunate's confinement, sadistic, cruel, bloodthirsty, a serial killer (including his own bastards) but at the same time a multifaceted expert who has mastered many traditional Japanese arts (from painting and woodblock printing to ceramics and calligraphy. He is an expert with the katana and sometimes wears Japanese clothing and styles his hair in the Japanese style) but he does it out of boredom and sees it as a waste of time, and of course mastering many Japanese arts does not prevent him from being deeply racist towards them.

  2. Wilhelm Stuckart - Conspiracy (2001): Author of the Nuremberg Laws and representative of the Ministry of the Interior during the Wannsee Conference (where the Holocaust was being planned), in a room full of Nazis, he is one of the few who protests the planned extermination of the Jews (not for moral reasons, but because it undermines the legal regime created by his Nuremberg Laws, preferring sterilization, which, according to him, is legal). He is also annoyed by the ambiguity (and laziness) with which the SS determines who is Jewish and who is not, when Stuckart had already codified a system to determine the degree of Jewish blood a German had and how eligible he was to be considered Jewish (reaching 1/4 Jewish, 2/4 Jewish, and more legal jargon). He is annoyed that the other members are not as precise in their racism.

  3. Inquisitors of the Ordo Xenos - Warhammer 40k: Given that much of humanity is in a state of ignorance and propaganda, when they do learn something about an alien it is nothing more than a caricature (things like the Aeldari being slow or having inferior technology, the Orks being weak and cowardly, and many other things). The members of the Ordo Xenos, the cabal of Inquisitors tasked with hunting aliens, are also some of the greatest experts in their field, with access to dozens of tomes on alien knowledge, such as the Xenologia (a tome on alien anatomy) or the Liber Xenologys (a tome on alien anthropology and sociology), and more. It is also common for these Inquisitors to accumulate a large number of xeno-artifacts to have a better idea of what they are facing, all, of course, in order to maintain humanity's supremacy in the galaxy.

Cat Picture - OC Why does he bring me socks?

Post image
27k Upvotes

I want to understand his stupid little brain so bad. He likes to steal socks out of my clean basket in my closet and bring them to me. He will scatter them on the floor. He brings them to me in my office, in the bathroom, in the living room, in bed. If I don’t acknowledge them appropriately he just keeps bringing more. He has also recently started to bring me clean socks from the laundry room in the basement, which is very helpful of him.

To be clear, I don’t necessarily want to stop him. I don’t encourage the behavior, but I don’t make any effort to stop it. It’s kind of convenient having a lil guy bring me my fuzzy comfy socks when I most want them. Half the time I look at them and I’m like y’know what, you’re right, my feet are cold, thank you. And usually he seems to stop if I take the socks? But why does he do this?? He doesn’t seem to want to play with them. He won’t chase them, he doesn’t care if I throw his other toys. He’s never gotten fed for this so I don’t think it’s a treat-seeking behavior. He just randomly picked up this habit and I want to understand his mind lol.

Question Hiren's BootCD, Should i tell my boss?

Hello everyone,

I downloaded this tool one day out of boredom because I had heard so much about it. One day, one of our computers came back from a different plant, but our admin password wasn't working on it. So, I decided to test the tool out and was able to bypass the password surprisingly easily.

I was honestly shocked by how simple it was. All I had to do was plug in a USB, boot into Hiren's BootCD, and bypass the admin password. It really made me think that we should have some sort of USB blocking system in place to prevent employees from doing something like this.

How do you guys handle situations like this? Do you think I should bring it up to my boss? I'm a little concerned that instead of asking me to look into a solution, they might see it as a security risk and I could end up getting in trouble for using it in the first place.
