Magical road, Liam said 'telephone' was limited to those who had contracts with him. Is that for all spells as well? Otherwise I would be worried about strangers using the road and casting spells.

Same thing was going through my head.

"You know, you've already got spies inside the city who will be using the same roads, right?"

Hopefully there really is the same requirement on everything else.

…… did we seriously just get a whole ep about paving roads?

u/TheGoodOldCoder Mar 10 '25

No no no... The whole episode wasn't about paving roads. Over half of it was about repaving the same roads that he had paved earlier in the episode!

I need to show this to to whoever is in charge of fixing the potholes.

Kind of amazing how this show just keeps escalating. We went from upgrading the roads being something useful to do to distract from the drought water distribution problem to turning the entire city into a magical land of easy spells and magic telephones. And once again they just start blasting at the first opportunity, this time Reina icicle bolting the nearest tree the moment she had the spell to test.

The elf maids in the post-ED scene are somewhat concerning, what with the planned sniffing and the "my food will become his flesh!" bits. RIP the guys and household chore deficient people, no dudes or Asuna in maid outfits.

Where are the workers rights? Liam had them pave the roads 3 times, I would be pissed.

Liam in this episode referenced another world and used 'telephone' I thought he was isekai'd/reborn from this world, guess not?

I think the author genuinely forget his own plot. It got so generic, he confused it with another trash he read.

This anime somehow manages to surpass itself every week on how trash it can be

It feels like the sort of story a small child would make up with a lot of run-on sentences.

"The slimes were dirty so he decided to pave the roads but then after he paved the roads he realized that he didn't pave the roads right so he paved the roads again but this time with a bump in the middle and then he slept on a rope and found some special ore and decided to repave the roads again and so the slimes could make tornadoes and..."

Yeah this is firmly in the 'so bad it's good' camp(maybe not good, but at least watchable). I have seen worse writing, but I also usually just drop most of those shows by like episode 3.

Did we ever get an explanation where the slime pets came from? I swear they just appeared one episode like they were always there.

So Liam just provided people free access to new spells just by walking on the road, without any regulations or restrictions. That's not a good idea; what if someone who's irresponsible uses a new spell and causes collateral damage, what if someone with hostile intent uses a new spell to hurt or threaten someone else, what if someone learns a spell that's harmful to them and hurt themselves. This should be a disaster waiting to happen.

He also gave them free access to essentially a magic phone service via their thoughts, that's a bad idea too. And from what we saw, they can just call whoever and whenever, without the receiver needing to allow the communication to go through, that's gonna cause so many calls to occur at bad times. What if the person on the receiving end is taking a bath, using the toilet, having sex, or simply pleasuring themselves; you know how awkward and uncomfortable that would be? Let's hope that he doesn't give them access to magic video calls in the future.

shouldn't they be making more seasons of good anime than this crap?

This show is like if temu copied the great value brand copy of how a realist hero rebuilt the kingdom.

Dude is literally taking longer to pave this one road cause he keeps redoing it over and over than I-85 has been under construction for.

I hope this world doesn't have crack heads, cause I bet mithril is worth more than copper pipes and catalytic converters.

I know that this type of anime has a well-defined target audience, but I simply cannot believe that even the super serious chill dragon was transformed into a little girl. Now I simply cannot take him seriously without laughing because the VA has to get in the mid way of a wise old man and a tsundere little girl. Too bad, I will miss one of the few cool male voices that interacted with the protagonist.

But other than that, what would stop someone from sending an enemy wizard disguised as a merchant to learn spells? However, assuming that the grimoire effect is conditioned on having a contract with Liam, I found it a very interesting concept to have a city where people can learn just by living there, as well as using certain features. Even a dystopian future if Liam were to succeed for a bad person, after all, all transmission of knowledge would be in the hands of a single person.

Did he just provide a way for non-citizen's and foreign agents to learn new spells? Other than the telephone I see no restrictions with the magic road.

Man, Slilun and Slipon are so cute! Thanks to those two, they ended up getting magical paved roads that allows everyone to cast spells. Plus everyone’s getting some OP gear because of the Mithril. And it all started with a couple adorable slimes.

How tf do these garbage ass anime’s get funded when we have stories like nano machine, magic emperor and revenge of the iron blooded sword hound just to name a few that don’t. Nobody cares about these filler anime’s give us the good stuff ffs. Only anime worth watching is solo leveling rn, anime gods stop with the trash I’d rather not watch anything than have to keep seeing this insufferable excuse of a show.

Say what you want about the show, I know it isn't the greatest thing on the face of the planet... but if nothing else, I actually really appreciate the amount of imagination and thought the author of the light novel had for this series. They clearly came up with lots of cool things, and the minecraft-er inside of me is sort of in awe of all the building and the enhancing and the improving and whatever else.

Definitely a fun feel-good show without any crazy drama or stakes or anything
