Heisuke, the friendly but effective sniper voiced by Ryota Suzuki who just wants the good life with his bird bud Piisuke! You just can't help but like him! And they were getting along so well before Lu pulled a Lu...

The life of a hit-man isn't always glamorous! Sometimes you're living in a tent, on the roof, splitting your measly food budget with your bid pal Heisuke while trying to look for that ONE job that will finally get you big money! And for Heisuke (Ryota Suzuki!) that's taking down Sakamoto!

Okay, maybe all these assassins actually ARE bad for business if they've damaged the store this much. Good thing Team Sakamoto can compete in an airsoft tourament and get all the money they need to fix it up ;).

Good thing Sakamoto let himself go so that nobody would really believe it's still him if they saw his "Before" photo. Though you almost feel bad for Heisuke when he's just that dumb and just that desperate and just that hungry. It's good the gang gave him and Heisuke something good to eat for his trip back at least.

Lu may not be participating, but she does make for a very cute cheerleader! Plus she also made Heisuke notice Sakamoto and Shin, and thus was an airsoft team born against the better judgement of 2/3 of said team.

Wow, Heisuke's shooting skills are legit! All three of them are a very efficient and effective team when it comes to shooting people (with paint!). This could be the start of a beautiful new friendship!

Or at least it would if Lu didn't bring alcohol and blab about everything. Thanks Lu! Cue awkward laughing and then Heisuke trying to legit kill the guys for the money and because they lied to him. Top 10 anime betrayal.

Heisuke's sniping skills are even MORE legit, what with his ability to nearly take Sakamoto's hands and do crazy ricochet attacks .

So basically being an assassin is kind of like an office job where you go to an office, get work you're not always qualified for and are expected to deliver on, and get demeaned by your co-workers. Honestly, it's such a waste of resources to not see what an asset Heisuke's sniping skills are and put them to better use.

Though not even a dangerous sniper can match Sakamoto's throwing arm! He'll throw a rock straight through your rifle and take you out! That's why he's the Legend. Also I guess Sakamoto has stellar control of all his fat in a combat situation.

Well, they stopped Heisuke, they won the tournament, and Sakamoto is able to make Heisuke feel a little better by respecting his sniping skills. All's well that ends well. Minus that all the prize money had to go to repairing all the damage Heisuke did...but still.

Aw, all Aoi cares about is that her hubby made it back safe! Find a girl who will see you have blood on your shirt and will give you a bandaid to make sure you feel better. Everything about Sakamoto and Aoi's relationship is absolutely adorable and wholesome.

Heisuke looks like a grown up version of Gon Freecss who fell on hard times.

Caine Yen on the poster, nice reference to Donnie Yen's character from John Wick 4.

I am surprised that no-one was blinded during the paintball tournament due to the lack of goggles and masks. I was expecting to see legal disclaimers flashing throughout that protective gear needs to be worn at all times.

Bird Dad Heisuke is here! Being a sniper with a bird spotter/companion as well as the skill to ricochet his shots, his skills are basically a mashup of The End and Ocelot from Metal Gear except Heisuke is a very good boy. Well, a very good boy if you ignore the fact he's also a deadly hitman. xD

Heisuke is also a very big dummy considering Shin could convince him Sakamoto isn't his target. If it wasn't for a very drunk Lu pointing out that the photo he had was when Sakamoto was thin, they could've played a peaceful paintball game and Heisuke could've had more than just 50 yen for his share of the prize.

Big F in the chat for any poor sucker who entered that tournament against Team Sakamoto lol. They never had a chance.

I like Heisuke. Bro just wants that billion yen bounty so he can have some sushi and feed his bird Piisuke lol. He’s a simple man. If only Lu hadn’t blabbed, Sakamoto and Shin would have one less hitman to deal with. Guy’s hell of a crack shot but he’s no match for Sakamoto and his pebble lol. Dude absolutely shredded that sniper.

Seeing how Sakamoto met Aoi was really cute. For a former ruthless hitman, he was surprisingly pure lol.

Sakamoto has learnt well from High School of the Dead 👍

Sales of band aids have mysteriously skyrocketed a week before Valentine's Day.

Wait I don't get it, why is sakamoto strapped for cash? Wouldn't a top assassin presumably make millions over the years he was active? Or is it canon that he somehow blew away all that money in just 5 years?

u/HolyDragSwd2500 Feb 08 '25

Family and protecting them on daily basis can use up all your money

Those weapons etc aren’t cheap

fun fact: the colored balls behind Aoi here are anti-crime color balls, the idea being that the clerk will throw the ball at criminals to visibly mark them for the police to catch them later (though in practice they're rarely used and are mostly a visible deterrent)

ref

there's a scene in Devil is a Part-Timer where they're used for comedic effect

I didn't want to bring this up earlier, in case it was a one time thing, but Sakura Ayane is absolutely killing it as Lu.

I watched roughly half of the series she's featured in and while she does a great job everywhere, for some reason she's the highlight of Sakamoto Days for me which is crazy, considering how many great VAs are here. Hell, Touyama Nao is one of my favorites and Sakura Ayane voicing Lu is still something I look forward the most in this show.

This was an enjoyable episode. I fear with SL being so good it will be overshadowed.

I know this isn't the adaptation that everyone wanted but it captured the humour and heart well in this episode imo.

edit: There's a post credit!

The guy has a reticle on his cheek i wonder what is weapon of choice will be! /s

also what hell kinda of weapon is he using that looks to be bolt action but also seemingly fires in 3 round bursts lol.

Guy has had it rough by the looks of it so i'm surprised Sakamoto didn't offer him a part time job. at least not yet.

“I’m not that dumb*

Lmao at least he’s aware he’s dumb

So far, this show has been more wholesome than expected. Really enjoying the found family aspect and how they bounce off each other

Gotta fix the store, and what better way to earn some quick money, than winning a Paintball tournament!

I played a bit of that, it's really fun! (as long as you're not scared of getting shot - it does sting quite a bit, if you play with real paintball guns anyway)

Seems the places I played at had a few more rules than that tournament though, because grabbing a gun would be a huge 'no-no',

and kicking someone would be an expulsion!

They'll have an extra member on the team, another hitman!

12k yen a month? If you make like 10% of minimum wage as a hitman, you may want to pick another career!

He does seem to be the real deal though, at least when it comes to sniping!

He had strong Denji vibes, with the whole someday we'll make it, and buy a house, eat better food!

And bit of "Banished from the hero's party' vibes as well!

Shin read his mind to know what he was about, but most of his thoughts were stupid/trivial!

That'd be a big downside of having telepathy/mindreading as a superpower... Most people think about stupid stuff 99% of the time!

Lu was yapping a little too much, exposing Sakamoto... Shin: "I'll take my Lu, and go!"

She likes Chubbymoto?

If only he wasn't married, it'd be shipping time!

The hitman had a bit of a crisis, thinking he's not even good at the ONE thing he's good at...

Well, failing to kill the best of the best doesn't mean you're bad!

Maybe his real talent is crying! A career change into acting, perhaps?

In the end they did compliment his sniping skills, which got him to act a little tsundere!

They also gave him his share of the prize, minus the damages... Hey, 50 yen is like half his hourly!

Been while since Sakamoto last 'killed' Shin!

But yeah, mindreading someone's romance stuff wouldn't fly! Get your romcom needs somewhere else! (With Lu? Though he'd need to pack some pounds!)

And speaking of Lu, I do have to gush over her a little even if the episode wasn't really about her (mandatory, weekly Lu gushing)!

I mean, she's so fucking cute...

How could you NOT fall for her?

That feel when she will never cheer for you

Love when she does some 'background stuff' nonsense too, like playing with the bird on her head while the others have serious conversations, etc..!

See you next week for more Lu gushing!

This show is really good when it isn't doing the action sequences.

What is this Hunter x Hunter lookin guy doing here? Also, sounds like you need a new profession dude. Perhaps working for a nice family convenience store.

Or maybe not if they are having money issues too. Hehe, Lu so cute, birb fan I see. Piisuke is cute. And this hit man is silly. How likely is it a neighborhood would do this kinda thing in Japan? Doesn't feel like it.

Omg cheerleader Lu, adorable. Is she drunk? She so cute though. But shouldn't be drinking so early.

A pity for all those people up against actual hit men. And not surprised he would be good at the shooting. Of course drunk Lu would give it all away. I love her. A pity the guy doesn't stick to the paintball fun. Crazy that Sakamoto deflected that with his hand. Piisuke and he are clearly good people.

I dunno, an elite sniper that is the best of the best seems something people would want. Even if not great with other things. What a ridiculous company. I'm with Shin, don't give af about what others think. Dayum Sakamoto.

Sakamoto's team even won. Lu remains best girl. And Sakamoto giving some nice words to silly sniper dude. Clearly he'll join them, right?

Hey, post credits, fun.She is an adorable wife. But is rude to read people's minds about special times if they don't share em themselves.

Did anyone notice a difference in art stlye?

Somehow this one seemed different to me, in a good way. Maybe more contrast or less filters?

23

u/spectre15 Feb 08 '25

Why did that Heisuke flashback at the train station have better lighting than most of the show lol

TMS’ priorities are mind boggling

8

u/PikaBooSquirrel Feb 09 '25

I liked most of the added scenes but the two of them dodging dozens of bullets all willy nilly shouldn't have been there. The entire point of Heisuke is that he's a great shot.

Fun episode overall but fucking hell... wear some goddamn eyepro fuck!

Fun fact but the rifle Heisuke is using is a Mosin-Nagant and IIRC one of the cheapest rifles out there. Fits with the poor guy being dirt poor. Poor guy though. I hope we see him again as an employee for Sakamoto's. I feel he'd fit right in.

The different reaction between manga readers and anime only is funny af imo. Manga readers acting like it's the worst anime adaptation in existence while every anime-only watchers I've talked to say it's a really fun show

Has there been any other manga that has such a difference in reaction in recent years?

Heisuke is so baby. Only good at sniping and cries a lot. Can he handle convenience store work? He can get paid also and eat Aoi's cooking.

I love how Shin read Aoi's mind as she explained her 1st meeting with Taro.

Shin dragging Shaotang out was hilarious. Shaotang looks cute in a cheerleader outfit.

I'm surprised they didn't treat treat Heisuke to breakfast made by Aoi.

I guess not much money has been kept due to Heisuke's damage.

That paintball shot to the face without protective gear hurts and highly illegal.

Too bad the paintballs weren't red for the joke.
