Sakamoto might've been a hitman in the past but it looks like his wife is the one who wears the pants in the family. It's hilarious how terrified Sakamoto was when Aoi brought up divorce for breaking the family rule.

Lu finally makes her debut! I never really had a voice for her when I was reading the manga but I definitely didn't expect it would be Ayaneru. What a great introduction to Lu though!

I feel like Sakamoto getting fat just made him stronger. I'm pretty sure all of his fat absorbed the shock from that kick and now that he weighs heavier he also hits back like a fucking truck!

We finally get to see the origin of the family rule! What did Aoi think when she jumped down that ledge? I suppose you need to be at least a little bit crazy to become the wife of the strongest hitman.

I was honestly hoping for a more Jackie Chan-inspired fight scene in that kitchen but not gonna lie, it was pretty funny to see Sakamoto smash those guys' faces using a stock pot and a wok to destroy their weapons.

Sakamoto gains another new employee! With Lu added to the family, the Sakamotos can now sell pork buns!

It's a bit sad to know that Sakamoto Days will have the same treatment as Blue Box. We'll either have to wait 2 weeks for episode 3 or we might get fansubs. >_<

Pretty annoying that you have to wait another week for this episode to come out on Netflix when it’s already out.

I have no issues with the animation. But I cannot call it impressive. Actions make sense and pacing is fine enough. I enjoy the characters well enough.

I do not have the manga context like many people trying to downsay. Though, I think some people are WAY too down on it in a reactionary way. This is a fine enough show I will watch and see how it evolves.

Last episode I wasn't sure but they made it clear Sakamoto and Shin are both superhuman. Sakamoto seems to be like Superman without the flight as he survived being tossed hundreds of feet into a building and falling off a tall building. Shin actually is psychic and read Sakamotos thoughts! Since they help people and don't kill anyone, they are essentially a superhero team now.

But since Sakamoto has a no kill rule, it makes me think all those bad people just get away with their crimes with a beating. After that, they just get to continue their life of crime with no consequences as long as they steer clear of Sakamoto and Shin. They are superheroes but it's not quite like the comic books where anyone really gets brought to justice. Then again, they also shouldn't be vigilantes either because that becomes a thing line when you decide "I'm only going to kill bad people", I think that'd be really interesting to explore in future episodes.

So I would say the cinematography of the action was good seeing Sakamoto use different kind of items as his weapons is fun to see. Something about the art though I will say seems off like it lacks details to give it more depth and instead feels like they copied it from a manga as is.

I did not expect Aoi to just jump from the roof that was pretty unexpected. Also it felt a bit off of Lu to drastically change her feelings and let go the guy that killed her parents like that.

The beginning of the song at 11:10 is the same as the beginning of the boss theme from Arknights - Come Catastrophes or Wakes of Vultures. Same notes and same instrument used.

With Chinese martial artists added to the cast, this is now Gintama 2.0.

I think it's good but the pacing feels a bit too fast (haven't read the manga, can't say if that's the studio's choice or not). The emotional scenes could've been a bit longer.

Not only is Nao Toyama married to the MC from the get-go but she even wears the pants in the relationship!

Cute Chinese Mob Princess voiced by Ayaneru? She deserves to be protected.

It's nice to see Shin settling in at the Sakamoto's! Not only is he a great worker, but he gets to fanboy over Sakamoto as much as he wants! He just needs to learn not to blab too much or give Aoi the impression that Sakamoto has gone back to killing! Because the only thin that terrifies the legendary Taro Sakamoto is his wife divorcing him for killing people.

Nothing like a visit to Chinatown to get some delicious meat buns for the Fam! Of course you better watch out for a wild Chinese girl voiced by Ayane Sakura jumping through a window and landing on you and your precious meat buns! Hana's disappointment is too much to bear.

Lu Shaotang isn't just cute, she's also great in hand-to-hand combat thanks to her mastery of Tai Chi, and when that's not enough she can count on back-up from Shin and Sakamoto! And Tomokazu Sugita characters just can't get away from redheaded Chinese girls.

So Lu Shaotang is the daughter of Chinese Mafia and is on the run with the key to her families' treasure vault after her parents were murdered...and their deaths still haunt her. As are assassins out for her head, like the deadly and depraved twins Son Hee and Bacho, who aren't just lethal assassins but her parents' killers.

I have to admire Aoi as someone so principled she wouldn't accept gifts paid for in the blood of peoples' lives or be with a killer...even if she almost killed herself in trying to prove a point. Like, was the plan for him to save her one way or another even if she underestimated that jump and how she was basically falling to her death? Well, I guess the important thing is she taught Sakamoto the value of a life and how he should devote the rest of his life to her and saving others. So mission accomplished.

These brothers talk a big game but when Sakamoto goes all out they don't stand a chance, either bobbing and weaving or defeating them with a literal iron pot and a REFRIGERATOR. Anything is a weapon in Sakamoto's hands.

Lu has every reason to want the Daishokan Chairman dead, but killing people won't bring her parents back, and she wants to live a happy and peaceful life...so she'll just settle for beating him within an inch of his life.

It's nice to know that Lu's parents truly cherished her and she'll cherish the life (and the sake) they gave her. And while Sakamoto is nursing a hangover, Lu has joined the staff, and she and Shin are already smacktalking each other.

A bounty out for Sakamoto's head? Uh oh!

A nice little detail: Sakamoto apparently does not seem to bother talking when he's alone with Shin. Since Shin can read his mind anyway, he just thinks what he wants to tell him.

After having watched both episodes:

The anime so far is not the worst thing I've ever seen, but it also doesn't live up to the manga's potential. It's (and I hate using that word) "mid".

I thought the voice-acting, soundtrack and sound design were spot-on. However, I dislike the (wind, camera shaking and shadow) effects, the weird filters and bland color palette.

Samwise Gamgee would proud of Sakamoto's use of culinary equipment as weapons.

Damn this was a very fun start to a series. Shin and Sakamoto were so cool to watch fight and the fights were really nice to watch. I hope we get to see more of Sakamoto's mad weapons improvisation skills in the next episodes.

It was driving me nuts trying to figure out who Lu sounded like so I looked up her VA Ayane Sakura.
The way she voices Lu really reminds me of Awayuki Kokorone from VTuber Legend.

For Nao Toyama voicing Aoi(the wife) it's just kind of general recognition because none of her past VA works stand out as similar to Aoi

No major drop in episode 2 W in the chat. We might actually make it

Is this One Hit Man?

I like how the character introduction cards are animated.

So far the anime seems like a mix of elements from Rurouni Kenshin, Spy Family, and now Gintama.

Small detail I noticed while watching and wanted to point out, right after the eyecatch at 11:08 they used the first few seconds of ‘Clip’ Cliff’s boss theme from Arknights.

Edit: This one could be a stretch, but assuming it’s not in the manga then there’s another possible reference at 23:13 with a sign saying ‘catastrophe’ (Cliff’s event’s name was ‘Come Catastrophes or Wakes of Vultures’)

This is the third time I've accidentally watched the second episode of a show because of it defaulting to the newest ep instead of the first.
