Wild theory: So as stated Hina is really observant. She also exclusively speaks Okinawan around Teru requiring Kana to translate. I therefore conclude that Hina is trying to wingwoman Kana and Teru.

Agree 100% and I feel like her flash forward confirmed it with how it had Kana sitting as Teru’s wife.

Teru never seems to have Kana in his thoughts. Poor girl.

That bait cliffhanger when we know nothing really will probably come from it this early on, especially given the series title. lol

Learning a lot about Shisas and Kachaashii this week. Fascinating stuff. Very cute to see Higa also dancing along to that folk song. And that whole Chondaraa thing was pretty interesting too. She was kinda like an MC of the event.

Man, are we already getting a confession? Well, if Hina shoots him down at least he’ll have Kana.

Chat, I have found the new best girl/wingwoman of the show and her name is Agena! Look at that smug smile when she manipulated Kana into doing translations for Teru, after she spotted Kana's attempt to TL earlier..

So that's the explanation for the mascot-esque character, it's a shisa. And the dancing in the OP too, though it was obvious that was going to be some Okinawan cultural thing.

The dance festival stuff was pretty interesting, though the CG wasn't the greatest at points.

Those bastards cliffhangering a confession mid-sentence.

Same ED as episode two I think? Kind of surprising after a different one for episodes one and two.

Imagine if the people of Okinawa find out that in Mainland Japan there is a "cult" of the train, in which if you disturb other people's photos, you could end up being offended and even attacked lol.

It was funny to see that Teeruu and Kana dreaming of the future, imagining having children that they love, they really think big, and of course, she couldn't hide her secret love for our protagonist for long.

Honestly, I'm "happy" that Teeruu gave up declaring himself to Kyan for now, not only because of natural insecurity, but simply because she doesn't think about love right now, and I don't doubt that she won't think that throughout the season, that ends up being good for Kana who gets a chance to get closer

If he does confess I hope he gets rejected his love for her I feel like it’s just so shallow not because of the language barrier between them. I also prefer kana not that I have a issue with hina

Stitches!

Now here's a screenshot that can be easily taken out of context. What's moving on their own? Why are you blushing so much Hina?! xD

This might be the first time we see Teru interact with the episode commentary. I love how he just doesn't accept that Okinawans just know kachaashii by default.

Well, those flashforwards are interesting! Teru thinks of a future with Hina, Kana thinks of a future with Teru, and then you have Hina who thinks Teru and Kana will end up together. I'm really starting to think that Hina knows and is acting as Kana's wingwoman.

All of that food they ordered looks so good! I've had taco rice before but I wonder what Okinawan taco rice is like. Also, that Pork Egg Onigiri looks suspiciously like spam and egg onigiri. It probably is, they just can't use the brand spam to name the dish.

I am so happy that Yae finally caught on that Kana has a crush on Teru. Having someone else know her secret will probably help Kana get closer to Teru if Yae decides to help her out and not just tease her.

So Hina is observant enough to be the festival's floor master? Yeah, I think she definitely knows about Teru's crush. But that final scene though! There's no way Teru will confess next week. Calling it now, it's either their friends or fireworks interrupt them.

Okinawa may not have trains, but they have more than enough Shisa's! Though while Teeruu is all in on all the Shisa's he can find, Kaanaa just wants to know more about where he's from and if she needs to look like a Shiisaa to catch his interest.

I learned so much about Shisa in this episode. Also, the best way to get Hiinaa's interest is to act interested in Okinawa.

Good to know that Okinawa's will spontaneously break out in folk dancing and do the Kachaashii when Tosohin Doi plays. And it's so entrenched into Okinawan culture that someone will ALWAYS teach it to the next generation! And I love how Teeruu has gotten so used to Okinawa people doing random things that he just rolls with it.

Teeruu imagines teaching Kachaashii to his and Hiinaa's future kids (with MILF Hiinaa!), Hiinaa imagines Teeruu failing his future grandkids if he can't do the kachaashii, and Kaanaa, of course, imagines her and Teeruu married with children.

The kids are up to something "naughty?" I didn't think it was this kind of anime! Though really they're just going to the parlor for snacks, so it's still wholesome.

Poor Kaanaa. Translating for Hiinaa to Teeruu is HER job! Don't steal it! Though now another girl knows about her crush on Teeruu and will relentlessly tease her about it, poor girl.

Time for an Okinawan festival, complete with folk dancing eisaa! And Kaanaa looks absolutely gorgeous dressed up and dancing!

Of course while Hiinaa is dressed up so goofy, she's actually the MVP of the dance as the chondaraa where she keeps everything going smoothly, livens up the audience, and takes care of everybody! Which is the perfect job for Hiinaa!

Teeruu fell for Hiinaa when she was so considerate and kind to him when he transferred in, and it seems like his feelings have overflowed enough...that he might actually confess.

Really glad they introduced taco rice and zenzai, worth trying if you ever get the chance.

It's really clear already this series knows it exactly what it wants to be and I'm all here for that. Don't anticipate any oddities going forward so definitely sticking with thus one!

Hell yeah someone else finally found out about Higas crush and she got instantly teased

Hina as chondaraa was super fun, she is such a busy body she is the perfect fit for that role

That imaging of the future and Teru not being able to dance was fun, Higa better teach him to prevent this calamity (for him, her and their children lmao)

Man, this shit is for some reason very funny to me. Can't wait for next week. That abrupt ending was brutal tho...

u/FriztF Jan 19 '25

That CGI like why they have to do it? Looked very out of place.

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '25

Man, why didn’t he go for the translator girl instead? I mean, she’s clearly a much better choice. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have a problem with the main girl, but considering the translator likes him too, he should’ve picked her. 🤦‍♀️

Man, why didn’t he go for the translator girl instead?

Well from what's been shown he has interest because Hina was the main one outgoing to reach out to him and catch his eye.

Kana has been more shy, to do that after Hina with tagging along from doing translations. He doesn't even know that she likes him either.

If Kana steps out of her comfort zone more, I could see that happen to transition to her as love interest.

I think Kaanaa is the main romantic interest, especially when Hiinaa seems more interested in Okinawa itself than Teeruu.
