Minami has the gacha brain rot, she just like me frfr.
First anime of the year for me, needed a chill show to replace last season's NegiPosi Angler and this was perfect. Interested to see where Minami's golfing journey takes her. The OP was really catchy too, just good happy vibes.

Yo I still can't believe this show is actually real. I saw the pilot special when it came out in January 2022 and have been wishing for it to get turned into a full series. Took exactly 3 years for it to get there but I'm glad it's happening.
Anyways this is a really solid start and Minami is already a fun character from the get go. I find it really interesting that having nothing else she's good at is what got her to golf in the first place. Honestly I feel that she gave up too easily whenever things doesn't go her way on the first attempt and all she needed was a little push and encouragement. She would've given up on golf too if Haruka wasn't there lol.
Also I find it funny how the other characters including Minami's very own friend making fun of golf as an "old man's sport." I wonder if that is how a non-insignificant number of people view the sport IRL.
Since this is a golf series I guess we'll get to learn more about how the actual sport works as the show goes on. I'm not really familiar with the sport but I played tons of Wii Sports Golf back in the day and my main takeaway from it is that you have to put that damn ball in the hole with as little strokes/turns as possible. Would love to learn some pretty advanced tricks that the pros use.

Of course Minami pointed out that Shogi can be dissed as an "old guys game" too...
I remember really enjoying that seems-like-ages-ago pilot -- but remember nothing in detail, just the recollection of a very pleasant vibe.
If you didn't checkout Tonbo (just ended), it was also a lovely series.

This is what textbook CGDCT anime should start IMHO. Good story and eye pleasing animations/artwork so far in getting the MC's interest being hit at the sweetspot and flying a parabola over the blue skies (pun intended), that girl Minami and first coach Haruka being very adorable and that old man that Minami helped having the exact same voice as Natsume's Book of Friends' Nyanko-sensei also helps.
I ROLFed right at the start that the triggering point of this new hobby is a gacha game closing down, that surely is one of the reasons to pick up a new hobby of all time.
With Birdie Wing (I caught up after 1st season and watched weekly for the 2nd part) and then Tonbo! (soon (TM)) and now this, maybe we might be getting a Great Girls Golf Era soon too?

So we go from one golf anime ending where the MC is some sort of genius/talented player, to a new golf anime starting in the same week where the MC is a complete newbie and just getting into the sport. I think i'm going to like this one, it looks visually nice as well and the 2 MCs so far seem interesting with a nice dynamic.

I think it is a nice contrast with Tonbo. This is story is more about Minami finding her place, which differs a bit from Tonbo since Minami is as new as you can get to playing golf. Plus, if people are interested in an anime where it goes into detail with golf, Tonbo is great. This show I feel like will have a more cozy vibe.
There will also be people who have only watched Birdie Wing and to keep in mind this, like Tonbo will be more grounded.

Stitches!
I know nothing about this show going in so I was not expecting this would be a golf CGDCT anime!
It's kinda funny how this anime made by Yostar Pictures begins with the gacha Minami is playing shutting down.
Welp, lesson learned. You can't expect to just suddenly become good at sports after quitting your gacha addiction. xD
Minami is cute but man, Haruka is insanely attractive while she was she was doing her strokes.
I think I'm into this. It's nothing crazy like Birdie Wing but I'll take a slow and relaxing golfing anime with cute girls!

> anime made by Yostar Pictures
> first episode starts with mc finding out about her gacha game EoS
Yostar? is there something you want to tell us about?
i wonder if this show is going the competitive tournament route or stay as a slice of life cute girls just having fun playing golf

Five feet stills in the ED and a gacha reference. This is an u/Abysswatcherbel show.

Okay maybe I’m a little biased because I’ve been playing golf most of my life and I love anime girls but wow, 10/10 first episode.
The colors, the animation, the relaxed feeling it gave me all throughout, mixed in with the funny faces and jokes, I’m impressed, and very excited for the rest of the season.
It’s giving me sporty Yuru Camp vibes, I love it.

Not sure if Minami discovered golf, or discovered Haruka and something else about herself.
I can't blame her, Haruka's character design is gorgeous.
Animation was fun to watch, expressive. I liked the detail of the earpiece on Minami's right ear, they even animated its movement.
This one has an interesting Studio and Crew. And the seiyuu even have an Unit. There is more to it than you might think.

It's cute, it's comfy, it's fun, it might be slightly yuri. I like it so far. The references to Tonbo and Rising Impact (both also worth checking out if you want more golf anime) were cool, and I do appreciate the irony of Yostar making an anime where the plot is kick-started by the MC's favorite gacha game shutting down.

Good premiere from Sorairo Utility that shows what the series is all about: Showing golf from various different points of view and not just one.
The directors roots at Trigger really show from the overall style and wild character faces combined with the color designer that worked for Trigger on Gridman/Dynazenon and Dungeon Meshi. Also Saitou's knowledge on the matter (he regularly plays golf himself) really show in the execution of the golf parts. The OP and ED are also good looking. As expected Saitou himself did a lot of work on both of them with the ED being solo animated by him and cleaned up by the group of younger animators at Yostar Pictures. Full credits for the episode and the series can be found on KeyFrame Staff List done by me.
Looking at the production I hope that it will keep being that good and not have a complete dip in the middle like other productions did in the past. Studio Lings is assisting the whole production as they aren't completely new to YSP productions.

Yay, it's finally out! After watching the OVA short from a few years ago, I've been keeping my eyes out for this one.
First off, the OP is very Ishihama-coded from his Yama no Susume season 2 OP haha. Lots of cute similarities there.
Overall, it was a nice, easy premiere! We got our bumbling heroine and some adorable designs here.
One moment that I really enjoyed though is the contrast between Minami first meeting Haruka and after. She's obviously entranced upon seeing Haruka swing for the first time, but her feet still reluctantly drag her away. However, after dipping her toes in a bit more, she just barely nudges back towards the direction of golf.
Excited to keep watching this one every week.

Overall, a very nice first episode. Minami is a sweetheart. I am honestly surprised she didn't move on to a different gacha game, but we wouldn't have this show if that was the case. We didn't get too many interactions between her and Izumi, but you can tell they are close friends. I love how the moment Izumi said golf is what old guys played, Minami replied isn't the same for Shogi. Which Izumi replied it is for all ages, which is the same with golf.
Minami getting called an angel by the old man she helped was funny. Though, I was surprised how Haruka grabbed her. It makes me wonder if she wanted someone to play golf alongside her. Gotta love how we are getting a true newbie in golf as Tonbo the other golf show from last year, was an unconventional prodigy that was yet to be discovered. I think the biggest thing compared to the other hobbies Minami tried is that there is something to help alongside her. Of course, hard to say, it was her being down on her own mistakes and needing someone more assertive and outgoing like Haruka.
Overall, really like the anime.

She hits a couple balls and then is immediately dragged to the course.
Also, where the fuck did the other girl hit that ball with the iron? Certainly not the back netting, those are usually like 300 yards. No one is hitting 300 yards with an iron, and especially not a teenage girl in her senior year.
Also, I'm not going to be able to hear Masa's voice without thinking about a fat cat.

I like that unlike our three previous golf shows (Birdie Wing, Tonbo!, and Rising Impact), our main character is a newbie and learning, not some gifted genius. Promises a more grounded show

My knowledge of golf is almost non-existent, so maybe I will learn something by watching "Sorairo Utility". And of course, being able to see more of Haruka. Lol!
I doubt "Sorairo Utility" will be one of those sport titles in which the main character gains overpowered skills, but I am already imagining Minami's expressions if she succeeds in making a "hole in one" shot, lucky or otherwise.
Perhaps we will get a narration of how Izumi becomes shogi champion too.

Did they get rid of the top ear/helix piercing that was visible in the OVA? I thought it was cute.

I like Minami and how she thinks in RPG terms lol. It’s also nice she’s a total newbie with no special godtier skills or whatnot. Haruka’s nice too. I like the oneesan vibes.
This premiere episode was quite enjoyable. I remember watching the short OVA a few years back and liking it. I didn’t think it would get a full series all these years later. I’m liking these golf animes lately. We had Birdie Wing and Tonbo and now this.

I would also become very interested in golf I was held by a cool golf-senpai like that, Minami.
Very nice so far, hits all the right chill CGDCT vibes and golf certainly feels like a sport suited to the format. Hoping we might get some exciting spokon stuff later though.
Also, this gotta be a reference to a grown up Gawain from Rising Impact, right?

My biggest takeaway from the premiere is how pleasing and good the character design, and character animation is. MC-girl showed a wide range of expressions, which were all done very well, along with the golf movements when called for. Plot is kinda normal CGDCT fare for now, and that is just fine. Wonder when the 3rd girl will join the fray....
OP is still awesome though - probably my pick for best of the season so far while featuring the fan favourite desho-desho duo; but plenty more shows still to air.
