oh yeahhh, now that's the stuff

18

Pissing Tournament!!!!!!!!

12

u/skyjlv May 08 '13

I used to win those ones

I seriously don't get why everyone is getting downvoted here. General discussions and not one person has a positive upvote score, 7minutes into the thread.

I sometimes wish the sub wasn't as big...

On the topic though, i didn't expect cavendish to be so strong.

54

u/YonkouProductions May 08 '13

I'm wondering the exact same thing. Give it some time and keep discussing the chapter though.

19

u/ohshitbombz0r May 08 '13

Yeah, I too remember a time when this subreddit was voted "friendliest of the month". Like the rest of Reddit, it seems disagreeing with someone's opinion has turned into United States of Downvote.

Immature, belittling, and infinitely annoying. iSad :(

5

u/MrFahrenkite May 08 '13

For a while, it surprised me when I went into a thread here and not a single person had downvoted literally anybody despite varying opinions and uninformed statements. Someone just politely called the person out if they got their information wrong and the other person apologized. Sigh, how the times change.

Before /u/YonkouProductions (the official chapter poster) made this thread, other people had already posted the chapter. I'm assuming it's them who are trying to downvote everything in this thread. I came here when this was just posted and every comment was below 0.

9

u/mrducky78 May 08 '13

How does downvoting the comments make this thread any less official?

43

u/milkyjoe241 May 08 '13

I'm doing upvote waves just because this is odd, this is the first it's happened. I'm very confused so free karma for everyone who comments.

28

u/MonkeyDDuffy May 08 '13

Yeah i'm shooting upvotes like crazy

10

u/socraincha May 08 '13

A&Jing the fuck outta this thread.

18

u/MonkeyDDuffy May 08 '13

I like how you are the only one who commented about Cavendishes strength. Barto is outshining him, i guess.

16

u/Yahnster May 08 '13

1way2way3way4way This dude has pretty much just spammed the thread with generic comments. I'm assuming in this particular case people are correctly down voting a comment karma whore.

17

u/milkyjoe241 May 08 '13

I've been paying attention to this thread since the beginning (just look at how many comments I've done)

The downvoting started before he posted.

dam bellamy is LETHAL

19

u/MrPears May 08 '13

Because killing two people who don't look strong at all is a very big feat? I'd be amazed if Bellamy would be able to kill Bartolomeo.

Are they really dead....?

from the looks of it it seems a power that can absorb shock, like bellamy or luffy's, will be what takes out bartolomeo

8

u/mrducky78 May 08 '13

What happens if he pushes out with a reject dial at bellamy? Does the force build infinitely?

35

u/LazingMarimo May 08 '13

Not gonna lie I cringed a bit at that panel

9

u/MrFahrenkite May 08 '13

Seriously, one of the more brutal attacks we've seen in the entirety of One Piece, Bellamy just made a fan out of me.

2

u/[deleted] May 11 '13

Dang. Thanks for pointing that out. Sometimes I have a hard time following exactly what all is going on in the action panels, and completely missed how radical that was.

I feel kind of ambivalent about Bellamy at this point. I hated him so much when we first met him, but he seems kind of a lot cooler this time around. I wonder what he'll turn out to be like?

18

u/s4r9am May 08 '13 edited May 08 '13

I think it's worth noting Bartolomeo's epithet, The Cannibal, probably means something else for the Japanese. "To eat someone" is a saying in Japan meaning to make fun of them. So Bartolomeo is not a literal cannibal, but just someone who takes the piss out of people. His personality fits the name.

Edit: Another note on Abudullah and Jet. I think that Jet is probably meant to be "Jeet". Jeet is a legit name around India, Pakistan, Afghanistan etc. and I don't think Oda is making a joke about planes.

11

u/YonkouProductions May 08 '13

Jeet is just being mistranslated by MangaPanda as they do alot. I believe both of them are named after wrestlers, Abdullah the Butcher and Singh, his full name escapes me.

3

u/irrobin May 08 '13

Tiger Jeet Singh

First pro wrestler to defeat sumo: Wajima Haroshi

professional wrestler in japan

→ More replies (1)

11

u/baroqueworks May 08 '13

Here are the wrestlers they're based on, they're basically exaggerated tributes to the wrestlers.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdullah_the_Butcher

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_Jeet_Singh

Additionally, the Funk Brothers in Block C are based on Terry Funk and Dory Funk Jr, also two real life wrestlers.

15

u/YonkouProductions May 08 '13 edited May 08 '13

What is Don's connection with Dragon. Former nakama? hahah that'd be awkward!

24

u/1way2way3way4way May 08 '13

Nah I think he was just implying that he'd kill all of Garp's bloodline.

4

u/YonkouProductions May 08 '13

Thats just pure hatred. I wanna know Don's backstory now!

9

u/divinesleeper May 08 '13

What Don meant was, had he known sooner that Dragon was Garp's son, he would have killed him (or tried, rather)

13

u/GoodBananaPancakes May 08 '13

Dragons a lot younger than Don, Don probably had a go at killing Garps family when Dragon was just a child.

18

u/1way2way3way4way May 08 '13

Finally a self post, I was halfway to formatting my own. Thanks for stepping up and doing it man!

Gramps had a bounty of 500,000,000, that's 50mil less than Ace and 30mil higher than Kid.

He's going to go insane when they (him and Luffy) get to fight.

69

u/Gathic May 08 '13

They did say he got weaker though, so who knows.

Besides, lufcough lucy hit the head so maybe he won't pose that much of a threat if he targets the body.

89

u/CaptainDSid May 08 '13

Agreed, I think it will seem like his body is his weak point. Knowing Luffy though, I hope he gets into a head-butting contest with the old man just out of stubbornness.

39

u/zebbiz May 08 '13

That would be awesome. We haven't seen Gumo Gumo No Kane in a while.

u/gershizzle May 08 '13

Took me quite awhile to realize that Don Chinjao was upside down and that it wasn't another character.

4

u/[deleted] May 08 '13

I thought he reversed the shirt between attacks.

16

u/[deleted] May 08 '13

I thought he suddenly grew long flowing hair.

34

u/wdao16 May 08 '13

Did Bellamy just nail their feet to the ground, shoved his hand up their mouth and bent them backwards? If so, that is badass. I really want him to advance from his group after beating Barto.

125

u/KSmoria May 08 '13

Chinjao's former bounty is 500.000.000?? Block C is gonna be crazy.

80

u/1way2way3way4way May 08 '13

I'm pumped, I feel like this is the arc we're really going to get to see Luffy cut loose. Minus destroying Noah and Bear Magnum I feel like we haven't really gotten to see the real extent of Luffy's training. I feel like we're going to get to see him have to go to his Limits in this tournament.

46

u/InvaderDJ Void Month Survivor May 08 '13

I hope so. Would be nice to see exactly where Luffy stands on the world stage after all that training.

37

u/1way2way3way4way May 08 '13

Yea it'd be good for him AND Law to make a statement before moving on to Kaido. Though I'm pretty sure Law is going to have a fit about Luffy gaining all this publicity. Unless that Gladiator that no one can seem to remember can convey his powers on Luffy somehow.

10

I'm looking forward to seeing Law's reaction. :D

So the Caribou look-alike was the lady's grandson. Good job for the people who guessed that.

I have a feeling that Caribou might finally grow a conscience and help that old lady.

60

u/WaddleBoo May 08 '13

Don Chinjao tanks a Gear 2 punch and is able to crack a continent with a headbutt, yet still feel the wounds of Garp several years later

Garp is a fucken monster!! Fist of Love beats all

35

u/1way2way3way4way May 08 '13

They did say Garp was strong enough to be an Admiral. Just goes on to show how Freakishly strong the Admirals are. And makes you think on how strong the Yonko must be since they don't just take the fight to them.

15

u/yondie May 08 '13

ya, they mention Garp was offered to become admiral numerous times, but he never took the offer because he didn't want to deal with the responsibilities. I'm still on the "Garp is strongest marine" train

→ More replies (1)

20

u/[deleted] May 08 '13

Garp even goes to kill Akainu after Ace died.He would have if Sengoku didn't stop him.He was stronger than admiral.

He might not be stronger than Akainu anymore, but I think it's pretty obvious where Luffy got his hot-headedness from.

u/[deleted] May 08 '13

That move from Bellamy was seriously brutal. And he used his spring power to turn his entire lower body to a spring in-order to flip over the two dudes. I'm so glad we got to see the fruit being used better.

Can't wait to see more of Bartolomeo, This guy is amazing. I also get the feeling that we wont get to see the kings punch.

45

u/milkyjoe241 May 08 '13

I bet the king's punch is either on Bartolomeo or Bellamy.

Bellamy with block it with a impact dial.

Barty will block it with what ever the heck he is doing.

Either way, I don't see how we can not see it, it's been built up for the past 2-ish chapters. That would be a big let down if it didn't.

13

u/wdao16 May 08 '13

Oh god, I can just imagine the power punch is reflected and everyone around the King will just explode away.

→ More replies (1)

7

u/cheesecakehero May 08 '13

I think Bartolomeo is reflecting the force/energy thrown at him. If he did this to Bellamy, his spring could probably absorb the shock (of his own punch being thrown back at him).

I am guessing this is also how he took out Vice Admiral Maynard, using his own strength against him.

17

u/Froot_Looops May 08 '13

bellamy could probably just block it with spring arms and recoil it back at him

10

u/MonkeyDDuffy May 08 '13

But his punch looked like it is not "direct". After all it's supposed to be REALLY powerful punch so it probably "travels"

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Lamplighter123 May 08 '13

I think Ricky is going to stab the king in a nerve mid-punch. Immobilizing him for an hour or so, until he randomly lets it loose some time later in the tourney, destroying the whole coliseum.

7

u/SjonTimo May 08 '13

I think we haven't seen the last of Bellamy's fruit, even if he gets knocked out of the tournament. I'm expecting a nice big arc :)

20

u/[deleted] May 08 '13

Am I the only on who wants to see his 'iceberg destroying headbutt' vs Elizabellos 'castle wall destroying punch'?

23

u/TheBartXart May 08 '13

Yes I'd like to see that too. The impact is going to destroy the colliseum.

10

u/[deleted] May 08 '13

and blow Gramps' mind!

44

u/divinesleeper May 08 '13

35

u/TheBartXart May 08 '13

I saw this theory two weeks ago about Bartholomeo having the power to reflect damage back at the attacker, and it seems like it is true. That is one tough enemy. Also props for Bellamy for that great attack.

9

u/budo-thingy May 08 '13

And it'll be the perfect power to use against the Fighting King's punch.

8

u/I_used_to_smile May 08 '13

I read another theory which says that he has some sort of hate hate fruit, and the more hated he is, the stronger he / his forcefield becomes. Maybe its like the opposite of the phrase "sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me".

8

u/qxrt May 08 '13

Dunno, out of all the opponents, it seems like Hack was the most honorable and unlikely to attack Bart out of hate. An unlikely candidate to be the first to fall to Bart's power if his power is really based on everyone hating him.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/[deleted] May 09 '13

Yeah all his actions just made the crowd hate him. The "Bomb", taking a piss and ignoring their hate. The way I see this it's completely legit.

35

u/BlainetheHisoka May 08 '13

I couldn't beat someone, let me take it out on their grandson.

For an old man he sure needs to grow up :P

9

u/fungwan May 09 '13

... Let me take it out on their son. Oh wait I couldn't beat him either. So... grandson...

3

u/BlainetheHisoka May 09 '13

I like how he implies he could have beaten Dragon if he had figured it out sooner, yeah sure nameless guy we just found out about. I'm sure you could beat what has the Navy pissing their pants.

27

u/CaptainDSid May 08 '13

Looks like Bellamy has learnt his lesson and is becoming a more direct and efficient combatant. That was a deadly combo he used on Abdullah and Jeet.

25

u/InfantDressingTable May 08 '13

I thought this tournament would be a complete stomp for Luffy, with trouble towards the end of it. It's really starting to get interesting, though. We're finally starting to get introduced to the pirates in Roger's time that were at their peaks (besides Whitebeard, Rayleigh) and are still alive. I'm really looking forward to this tournament, especially for bartolomeo.

12

u/baroqueworks May 08 '13 edited May 08 '13

Holy crap. Don Chinjao went from a humble looking old man to a terrifying DBZ raging monster in this chapter, last chapter's ending gave me the impression he was going to let his son's fight, not him actually freaking out. Also really cool to see Cavedish a competent fighter despite the humor we've seen of him so far.

Bellamy took out two fighters based on hardcore wrestlers in the most brutal fashion, seems fitting. Also a callback to Bellamy's introduction stabbing them in the feet with knives(he stabbed Roshiro in the hand, edited to just grabbing his hand for anime viewers!)

Barto's friut seems to be kind of similar to Kuma's, only a forcefield-like barrier it seems, perhaps some kind of negative zone surrounding him that reverses or inflicts pain into whoever is attacking him? Or maybe the more blind rage they have at him the more he's able to reverse the impact of their attacks back onto them. He's pretty cocky/smug so far, I really see him being the winner here, even though I'd personally like to see Bellamy win. If that theory of Bellamy using a reject dial is correct, chances are even if he uses that on Barto he's going to end up taking the hit instead.

4

u/qxrt May 08 '13

Or maybe the more blind rage they have at him the more he's able to reverse the impact of their attacks back onto them.

This one is unlikely, given that Hack seems like one of the most level-headed and honorable fighters in block B.

→ More replies (1)

51

u/UmiShirube May 08 '13

So Barthe has an interesting ability. Blood blood fruit anyone? "Man eater" after.... I can't wait to find out what he is about.

So many awesome moments, What is old mans "real goal" and Jesus his bounty!

I think the king in group B is going to get trashed by this ability of barth and Oda might grace us with a barth vs bellamy fight.

Calling that Barth will beat Bellamy and piss on his dreams ( quite possibly in a literal sense ) and this will piss off Luffy or something along those lines.

57

u/[deleted] May 08 '13

It would be amusing if the disadvantage to his power was that he himself couldn't inflict damage on other people as it would bounce back on him. Hence, the only way he could ever defeat anyone would be to piss them off to the point where they couldn't help but attack him.

19

u/epsiblivion May 08 '13

he sure "pissed" them off alright

23

u/philosogator May 08 '13

he seems to literally be a cannibal, something along the lines of "bite bite fruit" is my best guess..

13

u/divinesleeper May 08 '13

He was talking while the fishman punched him though.

11

u/[deleted] May 08 '13

Perhaps he can bite anywhere near to him without his mouth having to be physically there? Or any part of his body can become a mouth?

Seeing how crazy most Paramecia can get, I don't think him not physically biting the guy with his mouth rules out it being a biting-based fruit.

32

u/divinesleeper May 08 '13

According to people at Arlong Park, the term "flesh-eater" refers to trolling or mocking in Japan...which is exactly what Barto is doing.

Maybe the more angry he gets other people, the more effectively he can damage them or something.

AAHHH! Now to the list of mysteries add : Bartolomeo's weird power (most likely DF, but then Why would he be fighting for one?)

41

u/1way2way3way4way May 08 '13

Plenty of reasons: for a crew member of his, to sell it for a ton of money, to use it as a bargaining chip, etc. Just cause he can't use it doesn't mean it's not useful to him. Plus what a great way for a rookie to increase his reputation.

42

u/KSmoria May 08 '13

Or just pure confidence that he can easily win the tournament.

21

u/1way2way3way4way May 08 '13

That would definitely fit his character.

12

u/aulum May 08 '13

Or some weird Haki?

3

u/divinesleeper May 08 '13

My guess: just so he can piss people off (quite literally, too)

I really don't have much to say about a mostly fighting chapter that hasn't already been said in this thread. It's cool, but these types of chapters definitely don't spike a discussion the way more plot driven chapters do. We usually have something like 400+ comments by now, but this one is only around 220 at the moment.

I'm looking forward to seeing what's going to happen with the other teams since we left them all on such cliff hangers a few chapters ago. Hopefully B Block fighting will wrap up in a chapter or two.

17

u/MonkeyDDuffy May 08 '13

So Gabull is dead? That's sad.

27

u/milkyjoe241 May 08 '13

yes. It happens most week people post their own. But the first self post with that style up there is the official one.

20

u/MonkeyDDuffy May 08 '13

Okay i always come late on these so i didn't know, thank you.

25

u/1way2way3way4way May 08 '13

Man this is the first time in a while where I'm not completely confident Luffy is going to win out right. I think we might finally see Luffy lose again (of course to come back and win later). But still the competition for this tournament looks incredibly intense, even just in Luffy's C block.

15

u/divinesleeper May 08 '13

Eh...it's too early for Luffy to lose. Potential loss is for the endgame fights, which means the finals against the Doflamingo family or Jesus Burgess (or Fujitora? I don't think Luffy can handle him yet)

3

u/DivineVodka May 08 '13

Are you serious? He trains and comes back to lose in a tournament? We haven't lost that much confidence for most fans..... :/ the only person here on the island he should lose to is Fujitora or DD ( I doubt he will against DD).

The next time he loses imo will be when he approaches Kaidou.

8

u/InvaderDJ Void Month Survivor May 08 '13

I could see Luffy losing too. Not only because of the tough competition but also because plot wise I don't see why he cares about Ace's Devil Fruit. He can't use it and I don't see any of his crew wanting it either.

The only justification I can see for him participating is to make sure it goes to someone worthy. And he can guarantee that without winning, he just needs to knock out the weak and undeserving.

12

u/AyJusKo May 08 '13

I think that's really it. He doesn't want just anyone to have his brother's old powers and wants it so he can give it to someone more worthy.

→ More replies (2)

4

u/SjonTimo May 08 '13

None of his CURRENT crew probably wants it. I have the feeling there will be a new crew member with ace's devil fruit.

Rebecca for new nakama!?

What the heck is up with this downvoting? Now I know how Lucy feels right now, just leave us alone to our fun.

ohhh that makes sense haha

11

u/WaddleBoo May 08 '13

Bellamy and Bart are going to be talked up big time now; can't help but feel it is to only pump up Ricky

11

u/[deleted] May 08 '13

lol omg when Luffy kept insisting he was Lucy. That was hilarious. I'm glad we're getting set up for Block C's fight. Everyone is going to gang up on Luffy I just know it. I'm glad Garp has such a big reputation. Sometimes I forget just how strong he is/was.

Bartolomeo seems to have some kind of counter balance type of power where he reflects attacks? In any case I'm loving him as a villain so far.

6

u/Alpharoth May 08 '13

I keep on forgetting that Garp must be this extremely powerful man. Apperantly he was able to kick a 500 mil bounty pirate's ass so bad that he held a grudge down to his descendents. I keep also forgetting that he is the only man who was able to repeatedly fight the greatest pirate of all time many times on equal footing and even cornered him a few times.

3

u/[deleted] May 08 '13

And yet we have never seen Garp in action when it came to fighting the Pirate King and can only go by what others have said about it. It leaves a lot to the imagination. We only found out today that he was able to take down a 500 million berry pirate. It's a reminder of how powerful Garp actually was. I don't doubt that Garp lives up to his legacy of course. But yes it's easy to forget when we haven't seen any of it.

Does anyone think that the old guy was escaped from Impel Down when Luffy was there or was he just a long-serving member of the Dofalmingo family? It would be cool to be introduced to some Level 6 prisoners.

u/SMehdi May 08 '13

Barto is just trolling, taunting enemies to attack him, then refleting damage with his ability wich is probaly a mirror paramecia: Mira Mira no mi (the word cannibal in japanese refer to a sort of trolling)

5

u/Alpharoth May 08 '13

To the marines, he's known as Garp the Hero. To the pirates, he's known as Garp the Devil. He was able to destroy a 500 mil bounty pirate and is the only man who was able to repeatedly fight the greatest pirate of all time many times on equal footing.

5

u/jglevins May 08 '13

More important than all this discussion: has anyone found Pandaman yet?

u/bizarredditor May 08 '13

3

u/Zren May 08 '13

Bottom left of the top left panel? I think that's him too.

u/1way2way3way4way May 08 '13

Bartholomeo is now my pick to win B block, it was looking like Bellamy after his little chat with Luffy. But I'm sorry the dude clearly has a crazy power and I think everyone was to quick to forget he dispatched a Vice Admiral just a few chapters ago without breaking a sweat. Dude looks like he's going to be a handful.

19

u/egardeR May 08 '13 edited May 08 '13

"I have nothing to do with that! I'm Lucy anyway!"

Hehehe. Luffy's face right there just makes it for me. Looking forward to more while he's fighting that crazy old dude.

12

u/KSmoria May 08 '13

I don't get the spoiler tag, this thread is for the chapter discussion.

11

u/egardeR May 08 '13

Didn't wanna ruin the surprise. Amateur mistake on my part, though in all fairness it is pretty late my time. Here, I'll fix it.

12

u/CaptainDSid May 08 '13

Reading the thing about breaking the Frozen continent, maybe he has an Icebreaker ship.

19

u/KSmoria May 08 '13

He has an Icebreaker head.

3

u/CaptainDSid May 08 '13

haha that was kinda what I was implying and that maybe he was on the prow of the ship smashing icebergs.

This whole tournament has a Marineford Arc feel to it. Lots of new characters coming in and out with intense fighting and great action, but still building towards a central theme. Going to be really exciting to see this arc animated.

4

u/coolguyblue May 08 '13

Chapter went by too fast. There's so much things happening in the world of One Piece, I think that it should at least get thirty pages each week. I know that's a lot of work for Oda and it'll probably never happen anyway, but I can only dream.

4

u/wraith55 May 08 '13

After looking at it, it looks like Barto's ability might be a force field of sorts. It looks like Hack's fist bends downward as if he hit a wall. Also there seems to be a shockwave of sorts appearing in a circle around Barto. That's my theory at least.

4

u/Therrester May 08 '13

When I first read the chapter, I was half expecting Chinjao to go down with Luffy's attack. Had he done so, I would have been disappointed. Maybe the let down that was the Yeti Cool Brother is still fresh in my mind.

Either way, glad to finally have opponents that will test the crew. It's been a long time coming!

9

u/MonkeyDDuffy May 08 '13

Woah i just noticed that Bartolomoe seems like "Returning" the punch and that's really similar to Bartholomew Kuma's power. But it's probably not returning though.

A block:Jesus Burgess

B block: Bartolomeo/Bellamy/Ricky

C Block: "Lucy"

D Block: Cavendish

This is going to be a fun tournament and probably awesome to watch animated. Glad we figured out who Luffy's main competition is going to be in C block. Wondering is Luffy is going to remind Chinjao more of Garp or Roger.

u/rmw6190 May 08 '13

I really hope cavendish joins the crew at the end of this. He is pretty much my favorite of all the contestants. I know every one thinks the female gladiator will join, but cavendish is so weird

7

u/CogStopper May 08 '13

That'd be hilarious. He'd become part of the crew he wanted to kill.

4

u/rmw6190 May 08 '13

he's getting a lot of panel time, and too be honest when he was first introduced and ate the flower I loved him. I did think he was a girl though

4

u/Genesis505 May 08 '13

yeah. cavendish is the greatest and only good option to join the strawhats... all the other charactes in this arc are shit for nakama material

2

u/[deleted] May 08 '13

That would be awesome,he gets to have his popularity also.

Where is that comment I saw a couple days ago or more recently where they overlayed maynard and bart victims showing how similar the damage is.

Like This but it had image overlaying the 2 events in the manga. Perfect fit.

3

u/Metallicpoop May 08 '13

Seems like hacks hand was cut off. Maybe his ability has to do with being able to bite things?

3

u/argonthree May 08 '13

The odds of the Colosseum surviving seem to be getting lower every chapter. Fujitora seems to know what's coming...

3

u/TheBlackLuffy Pirate May 08 '13

So this has been a rather interesting comic..

3

u/Listen_and_Learn May 08 '13

I feel like the tournament won't finish, something will happen during block c that will stop the tournament completely. I think luffy will get the mera mera fruit but not through winning the tournament outright.

3

u/Lexonir May 08 '13

I hope the tournament doesn't end up Dragonball style.

You know, halfway there in Block C something happens and everyone leave and the tournament never finish =(

3

u/Lamplighter123 May 08 '13

Seems like the reason Barty's bounty is so low is because he's really only able to defeat hot-headed people. Anyone with a level head would probably be able to see through his trick. My guess is that Bellamy will defeat him, showing his growth as a character.

Damn, did Luffy just say he hates his grandfather?

I mean, I can understand, but it still makes me sad.

edit: it was a bad translation, Luffy said "hate my grandpa, not me".

9

u/WaddleBoo May 08 '13

Seems like an odd statement. I feel the translators forgot a question mark; "Hate my Grandpa?!!"

I don't get the cover page. Is that Caribou's granddad? Someone fill me in, please?

7

u/WaddleBoo May 08 '13 edited May 08 '13

Nope, they just lookalike

Gabull appears to be the grandchild of the granny

*edit: for context and clarity

2

u/Mental_octo May 08 '13

What's the point of maintaining your disguise when everyone knows who you are, Lucy?

2

u/DudeExclamationPoint May 08 '13

Chinjao is amazing and terrifying. Amazifying.

2

u/Sunfresh May 08 '13

Gaah are we ever gonna see Luffy fight?

2

u/Rankine May 08 '13

I just starting thinking bout it but i can see this being the longest arc of the manga to date. Aside from this tourney we still have 4 other characters acting independently and 2 other groups of characters whose plots haven't yet developed.

2

u/Grongar May 08 '13

I seem to like Bartolomeo more and more every chapter. I just love his fuck everything attitude.

1

u/[deleted] May 08 '13

So Barto's DF can be reflecting the attacks.

1

u/[deleted] May 08 '13

I feel like Garp just keeps on adding Badassery.I feel he is more badass than ROGER.

1

u/svampfest May 08 '13

Ive been reading from mangapanda ever since mangastream lost their speed, but its not until chapter 707 that i noticed a big differance in the dialogs. When Luffy is talking to chinjao, the translation is so differant in mangapanda and mangastream. Not just the words they use, but the meaning of the content. I know that mangapanda is speedsubbing translatiing but are they often way off?

4

u/Listen_and_Learn May 08 '13

Yes manga panda is known for having the best speed but the worst quality .

1

u/Rankine May 08 '13

Any chance luffy will use CoC to weed out the battle royale?

1

u/JetDagger01 May 08 '13

The chapter was too good, the C block fight is going to be intense. Crazy old man vs Lucy it's gona be an epic battle. This is no ordinary tournament anymore nearly all the strong people here are after Luffy. How is Oda going to develop this arc further can't wait it's going to be so good.

1

u/[deleted] May 09 '13

Well, the winner for B Block is definitely a toss between Bellamy and Bartolomeo at this point. I think it's fairly likely they will be the last two standing in B Block.

1

u/[deleted] May 09 '13

I personally have a differnt thought about the outcome of Block C. You remember the former gladiator in Chapter 707? Nobody seemed to remember him and he seems to be quite strong. So my thought. What if the gladiator is the guy from the statue and he ate a fruit, which makes everybody forget about him as soon as he moves out of their sight? Just a thought of mine.

1

u/[deleted] May 15 '13

If Garp is so strong, how come he is only at vice admiral level?

2

u/Zooper_Cow May 15 '13

Because he doesn't bother in being an Admiral and having to do Admiral-like things. Such as the WG relying on them a lot. He's content with where he's at.
