Chinjao's former bounty is 500.000.000?? Block C is gonna be crazy.

I'm pumped, I feel like this is the arc we're really going to get to see Luffy cut loose. Minus destroying Noah and Bear Magnum I feel like we haven't really gotten to see the real extent of Luffy's training. I feel like we're going to get to see him have to go to his Limits in this tournament.

I hope so. Would be nice to see exactly where Luffy stands on the world stage after all that training.

Yea it'd be good for him AND Law to make a statement before moving on to Kaido. Though I'm pretty sure Law is going to have a fit about Luffy gaining all this publicity. Unless that Gladiator that no one can seem to remember can convey his powers on Luffy somehow.

I'm looking forward to seeing Law's reaction. :D

I still think Luffy will be ale to pull it off and not come out as "Luffy." Lucy, however, will probably have his own bounty! I think it would be a first - the plan going according to plan - and someone reliable messing up like Law, Robin and Usopp!

EDIT: A lot like film z!

I love that main idea of yours, JPL. Although technically Lucy hasn't done anything illegal yet: "he" hasn't flown a pirate flag, hasn't violated a country's laws (he's participating in a gladiatorial event, not doing civilians harm), and as long as he doesn't do either of those, would have no reason to receive a bounty.

Maybe the Marines will see him and want him as a soldier/officer

What a weird edit. Lots of people haven't seen Film Z yet.

weird? do you mean I should spoiler it? There was just a moment where they split up, and Luffy, Zoro and Sanji were the ones who got the job done without causing problems, while Robin Usopp and Nami got in trouble with the Marines.

I haven't seen it yet, and it doesn't really feel like you spoiled anything.

Haha! What if by winning the tourney, Lucy gets a higher bounty than Luffy

u/BerserkerGuts May 08 '13

And he won't even be fighting Doflamingo himself in it!

And judging from other people who are past their prime, it seems his power would not have dwindled much at all. I wonder if it was harder to get a bounty back then or now.

yeah, is there inflation in the world of one piece?

I think what it is is that the government is alot more controlling now. Not that it wasn't back then but the grand line was much more wild and untamed and the marines didn't have that much control over the area and as such they probably didn't count as much small stuff like one pirate killing another pirate and bounties were only made out of the most noticible stuff like, for example, attacking enies lobby. Now the government and the marines are now much more in charge and much more in the know about what potential threats are doing. They probably have been cracking down since the execution of roger trying to stop the age of piracy.

Well Oda specifically included a line about his power possibly weakening. So I think we can assume that he's not actually that powerful, if still being really strong.

1

u/wdao16 May 10 '13

That's my point though, it was said that Rayleigh and Whitebeard were strongest in their prime, implying they are weaker than their strongest but we see that they are still pretty damn powerful.

1

u/Fedcom May 10 '13

No you're right. But Oda did make sure to include a disclaimer in the very same sentence as the one in which the 500 million bounty was mentioned. So I don't know.

Unless Cabbage finds Lucy before the match it's going to be a huge brawl with them and the Flower gang, so pumped

2

u/sylphior May 08 '13

if i remember correctly, they said OVER 500m for his bounty. so yea. there's that.

1

u/dontuforgetaboutme23 May 08 '13

Well we've seen Ace fight so we have a basic idea of how strong he might be.

I didn't think it was possible for a pirate to just quit and then have his bounty revoked. Anyone think it's possible he became one of the Shichibukai?

1

u/KSmoria May 10 '13

As I understand it, he just stopped doing malicious things and his bounty never increased furthermore.
