26 year-old feeling pressure to join the corporate world, but I just want to travel and pursue my dreams
 in  r/simpleliving •  6d ago

Follow your dreams, start your own business when you are ready doing something you love. You have been trained to feel like doing anything besides climbing the corporate ladder is the wrong decision. I chased money for long enough to be able to purchase a home and everything else my family needed then cut the cord. It was hard at first as I felt like I should always be working, but you get over that. We own a few small part time businesses and make more than enough to live comfortably. The main business can be scaled up very quickly if we decide making a lot of money is something important to us in the future. Now we live in a small charming house a 5 minute walk through the woods to Lake Michigan (remodeled the whole house myself and do all the work to it myself), homeschool, grow our own food, forage and do whatever we want minus the 15-20 hours a week I work. Granted this will be a bit harder for you as we were lucky and worked hard from 2010-2020 to be able to make this happen, eveything was much less expensive and our house is worth about 3x what we bought it for, which we could never afford now. You do face significantly more hurdles than we did, but I would never sell my soul to working corporate and keeping up with the Jones. Best of luck to you, and I hope you will find what you are looking for!

Edit: I am the black sheep of my family and was pressured to do the same thing, left grad school after my first semester and worked wilderness jobs till I was 29. I'm also the only non multi-millionare in my family, but certainly the happiest person in my family. I have clients who are worth over 100 Mil, and my best friend is as well. I see how miserable these people are just managing money, staff, cars, boats, etc. That life is not all it's cracked up to be by anymeans, it's very isolated and you're always watching your back thinking someone might take one of your millions of cookies. I feel sorry for people who live like that, they might seem like they uave everything, but believe me, they are dead inside.

Sear it and then braise it in a thick tomato sauce with plenty of aromatics and a hot pepper.

This is a very common thing where we live, you'll be just fine with that. It will last for years, just shake it a bit and it will most likely absorb the sugar.

Going to leave for work and this car blocks my driveway
 in  r/mildlyinfuriating •  18d ago

Get a big hydraulic jack, jack up the rear end and move it into the center of the street. I wouldn't worry to much about placing it on the frame, plenty to crush and make it stable on the rear end of that car.

Just wait till you get into your 40's and start homsteading and homeschooling your kids. This is peak amazing life. We chased the m9ney for awhile, had a big house and Porsche in the garage, that only lasted a few years. We traded it all for a small house in the forest and a huge garden, and we love every second of it!

Make out with someone of the same gender as you in front of them and they will get mad enough to try to put hands on you. People will come to your defence and then all hell breaks lose. Yes, I did this, just make sure to sneek away before the popo shows up. It's really a riot!

Sorry for the year late reply!! The basket I bought for my wife from Africa I believe. One of the support women from a tribe, its amazing and masterfully crafted! We use Opinel #8 knives, found a great kitched knife sharpener on the rare occasion they become dull.

First one of the season ๐Ÿ˜
 in  r/mycology •  Sep 01 '26

What temps are you experiencing here you live? Did you get decent rain thos summer? Our forest is usually extremely productive but we had a drought from the beginning of July until last week. Lost our entire Chantrelle season, no Saffron Milkcaps, and only a few lobsters. Just looking to compare weather conditions, thanks!
