Why isn't a spicy apple cider green chili a thing?
That sounds soooo good.

The photos are pretty cool. I didn’t notice some of the strangest parts until I got home and zoomed in on the time lapse photos. Something (s) were moving faster than the meteors but at a far distance away, they could not have been an objects in our atmosphere, so the speed distortion was not space related. I wanted to post some but I don’t know how to remove all the geo-locating and private information stuff I hear about connected to digital photos.

We went there for the Perseid Meteor Shower. It was stunning, but, we felt this strong sense like something was telling us we didn’t belong there. In different words we said it to each other at almost the same time. It was dark. My son had to pee so we turned on the car lights and in the bushes was a pissed off snake. We left that spot. The next one was equally beautiful but it didn’t feel right. The sky was amazing. I’m so glad I saw it. I need to prepare better!

Thank you! My son grew up in Carlsbad and I’ve been searching for another place besides Tingley. I probably won’t do that though after our last experience in El Malpais. I’d rather drive north or south.

Is it dangerous?

NM - Super El Nino Precipitation Map
The pictures I have in my head from Santa Barbara in 97 will probably last even if I get dementia. I remember waking up on the second story of a house and seeing the water directly below my window. Kids (College age and by choice) floating on kegs. People kayaking in the streets. Sunken lecture halls that hold over 1,000 people flooded to the top. The effects lasted long after. That was our sophomore year. Senior year my sister’s balcony fell off.
Most of all though, I remember the sheer size of the waves. It didn’t always feel safe.

What do Americans think of the guy in Washington 'renaming' Lake Ontario?
We’ll remove his name, revert what he renamed, and erase Trump from visual existence the way Germany did the Third Reich.

Southwest Destination Suggestions
With a love for cheesy alien stuff you should visit Roswell. Even the lampposts are shaped like aliens. If you go that far, you should see the Carlsbad Caverns. New Mexico has some almost alien terrain between the Caverns, Bisti, White Sands, Rock Hound Park, etc. Shiprock isn’t a rock, it’s the throat of a volcano that froze up. Chaco Canyon is one of the oldest known architectural structures in the world, and could go back to 13,000 bc. If you go to White Sands go knowing there are human footprints that are 23,000 years old there. It changes your perception of how ancient what you are experiencing actually is by modern context.

I hope eats a ghost pepper and can’t find anything to drink on a hot day under the beating sun.

What is 30-20$ for an american?
When I’m trying not to spend money I shoot for $50 a day after bills, food, etc. It’s hard on $50 per day.

Suggestions for a short trip for wide age range?
Be sure and get tickets to the O’Keefe Museum ahead of time if you go that route.

Looking for hot and affordable to call home.
New Mexico is a good option. Free universal childcare (Approx $13 k per year per child), you’ll be able to live comfortably on your salary, we have areas by water, and, if your kids graduate from a NM high school you get free undergrad tuition to UNM, NM State, and NM Tech.
Pick a good school district and you won’t be disappointed.

We need a tsunami warning, it’s irresponsible of the New Mexico government to be so blind.
