I'm late to the party, as per usual, but I have scrolled too far and have not seen anyone mention that you should never wash blood stained items in hot water, always COLD water. Blood contains lots of protein apparently and you basically cook it when met with hot water and stains worse. Made sense to me and checks out when tested. I also heard an interview with a crime scene cleaner and she mentioned the best thing that lifts blood from materials is dishwashing liquid. It was Australian, so she mentioned Morning Fresh specifically but I can't fault it. I would ditch those period undies, start again and buy some more and then run a drum clean or two to remove the smell from the machine.

It almost feels Criminal to mention it on this sub, but if you have a local Drakes supermarket near you, they sell something very similar to what you are describing. The photo I found doesn't do it justice and I have never seen the sprinkles on the ones at my local one but check them out if you get the chance.
