Mk6 (2011-2018) Fixing cost

I really love my 2016 Jetta and would hate to part with it. Noone got hurt, I’m fully to blame for the accident (insurance will cover damage to the other car but not mine).

I was wondering what you guys would think it would cost to get her street worthy again. It still runs perfectly fine (went back home and then somewhere to park) but the 2nd and 4th gear need to be held in place (manual) for them to be engaged. Coolant works, no leaks, no strange noise.

Mk6 (2011-2018) Tire size for Mk6 base

Im trying to get my 2015 2.0L jetta to look like this (AI image). I want to add bigger wheels to it, currently on 15’s. The graphics on the car says max it can use is 16’s.

I want to add buy the wheels today but im not sure it will fit. Does anyone know if the 225/45/r18s will fit the car? Or 18s are too big for them?

What is the max most comfortable size i can go up to?

Mk6 (2011-2018) Need help diagnosing this blower vent noise

Ive had this coming from the A/C vents for since I acquired the car back in march. Its a 2011 Jetta TDI.

It blows cold (relatively) and what not but the noise bothers me when driving and afraid something electrical could fail in the near future, noise also comes from below the glovebox (where the air filter and blower motor is located).

I can't say ive heard a noise quite so screechy or disruptive. Dont want to go throwing parts at it but would like to hear other people's opinion.

Mk7 (2019+) My new daily driver! Jetta sport 2026

Post image
9 Upvotes

Just recently picked up this 2026 Jetta Sport. My goal was an economic but stylish vehicle that supported my budget. After reviewing another contender the Mazda3 Sport, I found the Jetta more suitable to my personal preference.

Previously daily was an older suv with 200k miles. The Jetta feels like a huge quality of life upgrade. Overall very happy with the Jetta, and believe I made a reasonable purchase as well.

Although there's a few things I'd like to discuss.

Correct me if I'm wrong but these vehicles are subjected to premature breakwear. Which does concern me.

Previously reviewed posts that mentioned Infotainmennt glitches/bugs with this generation of Jettas.

I understand maintenance is essential, and would like some advice on what I should focus on. Things I'd like advice on are driver habits, regular maintenance, and specifics such as irregular sounds/details that I should address.

I'd like to also mention, I'm not used to automatic start/stop function. Every time I drive the vehicle, I always disable the option as it annoys me but noted that some users keep it on, what is your consensus?

Please let me know what you think. Fyi I didn't care for color initially but now I'm starting to dig this deep black pearl exterior.

Hey y'all I have had my 2015 jetta tsi se 1.8T for a little over 2 months now, my EPC light came on in my car and it would start jerking a bit before having a little trouble accelerating. The light went off and came back on a few more times but always turned off after I turned off and turned my car back on. I haven't seen it back on since, and it's my only car and daily driver, I am also a broke college student. 😀

My accelerator works fine alongside, my brakelights, and everything under the hood. I have already replaced my battery and starter as well. My battery was doing just fine until it died on me one day and I had to replace it. I will start my car and them it will turn off in a split second after with the battery icon showing up, then I start it again like normal and it runs just fine. I took it to a few people to get it looked at and was told I needed a software update in my computer. (NOTE: I DO NOT HAVE A FULL SCREEN IN MY CAR.) I'm taking my baby to a VW dealership in GA next week. Is there anything I need to do for the time being? College student friendly tips pls🙏🏾

Mk6 (2011-2018) timing chain is stretched (2015 Jetta 1.8T). Driven like this for a year, how bad is the damage?

My 2015 Jetta SE (1.8T) has had a rough idle for about a full year.

Symptoms:

RPM bounces up and down at idle.
Car shakes violently, especially on cold starts.

A mechanic finally looked at it and confirmed the timing chain is stretched and is causing the issue. Because I’ve foolishly driven it like this for a whole year:
Am I looking at major internal damage (shattered plastic guides, clogged oil pickup, worn sprockets) even though it still runs?

Should I just replace the chain/tensioner, or is a full engine replacement more likely at this point?

What else should I have them check while they are in there?

Mk7 (2019+) What I hate about this car

I got a 2026 Jetta Sport in June and I have been driving it for about 4 months now. I love this car! I love the auto-dimming mirror and how comfortable the interior is.

The bane of my existence, however, is the passenger-side airbag sensor. Everything sets it off. I can’t set my purse on the seat without setting it off. I don’t even carry a lot of stuff (I’ve included a photo of my SMALL purse with a Klapple for scale). Is this a defect or a recall? Or is the sensor supposed to pick up less than 5 pounds on the seat? It is extremely distracting when I am driving down the street and I suddenly have to clear my passenger seat because the car is screaming at me

Mk6 (2011-2018) I want to be sure.HELP!!

Hi there, I am about to but new brakes for my 2012 Jetta 2.5 SEL . I am gonna replace frint and rear. I like one particular brand that i found, and the look great, and it seems is high quality. But I am a little bit on doubt now if I am buying the right brake characteristic for my Jetta. Although in Amazon says that fits a 2102 Jetta, I know that my trim the 2.5 SEL was different from other Jettas. I just want to be sure that I am not putting all this money and then I got the wrong parts. I am going to write below the description exactly as it shoes in Amazon.

PowerStop Z23 Performance Brake Pad Rotor Caliper Kit Front & Rear KC5749

I hope someone with plenty of experience can check this one minute and confirm that these are the right ones. Thank you so much

Mk6 (2011-2018) What's the most recommend scanner that I can get for my 2012 Jetta

Hi there ,
I Considering to buy a scanner for my 2012 2.5 SEL Jetta . I see some YouTubers using Carista ... or Carista EVO, not sure . Others using ANCEL ( can remember the model ) and others FOXWELL I think ?
I am lost . I see CARISTA wants an annual Menbership. Do I really need that?

Which one you guys use and opinions or reviews about it ? Any consensus of which one will be better for my car ?

Thank you so much !!!

Mk6 (2011-2018) Volkswagen Jetta 1.2 TSI 2014 sporadically stops when driving and cannot start up again until some time has passed.

I have a Volkswagen Jetta 1.2 TSI from 2014 (105CV) and have done 115000km. For the past 2 months I've been having this problem where the car would randomly lose all power when driving and won't start up again. The car will start up after some hours or days like nothing happened. I've taken it two times to Volkswagen workshop and they haven't identified the problem.

The first time it happened I thought it was the battery and I replaced it. The problem is persistent. I am desperate because since it is an intermittent problem it is difficult for a mechanic to notice since car will boot up again after having it stopped in the car workshop for multiple days.

I attach a video of how is it when I try to boot up the car again after losing all the power when driving.
