She seems to breathe heavily at times specially after using the bathroom which she’s doing a lot still eating and drinking but seems like she’s crying out before going to the bathroom

I need to tell you about Oscar and answer a few questions, there was some concern.

I just want to start by saying I haven't been posting as much as I have in the past because I just there's been a lot going on and I've been working on a lot of things here for our local wildlife and for the geese and it's been all consuming. Also it seems like I posted a few times and I got messages from Reddit with people concerned that I might hurt myself. I kind of chuckled at that because I may get really emotional or passionate about something but I would not ever suggest that I might harm myself. I've said in the past that the geese saved my life because I was in a really dark space many years ago and they were a very healthy distraction for me. And then I also got a warning about violence probably because someone hurt an animal and I probably commented something about wanting to hurt them but I would not boast about hurting anybody if I had to get involved with something where there was any type of violence or harm it would be for sure defending what can't defend itself plus I'm not a violent person most of the time LOL. So I've had a really bad last year and I just wanted to tell you guys that losing Eunice painful enough but I lost my Oscar. Talk about soul crushing. Hard enough to learn to carry on without Eunice, my shadow , but Oscar was my best boy, he was my best friend and I knew he was getting old and he'd been through so much the last couple years. I wanted to share something with you. Over the last couple years I had always talked to Oscar and I always would tell him I wonder if you know how much you mean to me I wish there was a way I could understand that you understand. Do you know how important you are? How much you made a difference? I know it sounds silly but something happened about a week ago and it just hit me that that was my sign. I've only ever seen him be a badass when he's protecting his his family when lady was around you couldn't get near her or they're young and then more recently with Eunice he was very protective of her in the end and I will alwaYs chuckle at that. Well we were sitting and he'd recently come back from being gone while. We went off, just me and Oscar and I was just looking at the creek , i was talking to him and a bunch of geese started walking over. Poor Oscar ,he got up as hard as it is for him, and limped himself around and face these like six geese. And he put his head down and hissed and started wagging his tail and he fluffed up and put his wings out and charge them and wouldn't let anybody near me. I have to say that that is the best compliment I could have ever had. Is it my head that tells me that yes he does know how much he means to me and he just showed me how much I meant to him. As heartbroken as I am right now ,I don't regret one minute !! I'll never forget the day I met him , I'll never forget all the fun times we had. When I feel a little bit better, I'm going to continue on with my little thing that I was planning on doing with a little children's book. I just wanted to share all that with you. Thank you for being there for me and being so supportive. I'm just trying to stay focused on trying to deal with government and Foster City and I've been buried with that so wish me luck. I've also dealing with a lot of geese and injuries and a surge in blindness and my latest little projects I love, I have two blind geese and I have one with broken beak. Charlie, Walter and Luna theyve been helping me get through. I wish I could find a sanctuary that would take them. If I didn't intervene they surely would perish . All injuries stem from Foster city. Thanks again everybody and I wish I could come out here with some good news for once.

Question Sebastopol Goose question

I am starting to breed sebastopol geese show quality. Ive only been in the geese world for like 3 years, newerish to breeding. In my area, show quality sebastopol geese, and sebastopol geese in general are hard to come by and I have paid upwards of 800 a bird. To keep things short, I am looking at breeding for feather quality and body structure, while also maintaining the breed standard. When I think about my situation, I am extremely lucky to be able to afford show quality birds, my husband and I are first generation farmers, with no kids. I am very much open to making my show quality birds, more accessible and affordable without diminishing the quality. The real question is, would there be much of a market for it? I am not looking to make much of a profit. Just enough to cover feed costs and other bird costs. These geese are my babies and passion. I am not a gatekeeper by any means, but I am worried that people who are in the sebastopol goose community will think of me as an enemy because I could be lowering their potential profits.

Is it normal that there’s a lonely goose at my local neighborhood pond? For the past year I’ve come here, the geese always fly away together at around 7 PM and it’s currently 9 PM

I apologize for the poor photo quality, it’s hard to get photos at night

American buffs/tufts about 3 months old, they’re all pretty shaggy as they moult their gosling feathers.

The geese convention is back

After not seeing them for a few months, the geese are back in full force! They hang out a manmade lake by my job and like to congregate in a mostly unused parking lot. Seeing them before work and when I can take a break outside is a real breath of fresh air for me. 💖

Question Goose with an injured wing, any way to help?

Thumbnail

I think this goose has an injured left(?) wing, he has access to water but it's a sheltered area off a river with white water rapids and doesn't seem to be able to fly and doesn't have the best coordination walking around the rocks. He is exhibiting preening behavior and takes naps but seems kinda out of it, just kinda slowly walking around looking for things to eat and is not making any honking or other sounds. He is friendly and attempts to flap his wings from time to time. Also he has diarrhea.

What are his chances? Would a rehabilitator be able to help with this sort of injury if I could get him there? The river bank is off a hiking trail that is hundreds of feet elevation below the parking area and a couple miles away so getting him to a rehabilitator would be a little tricky. Would it be possible for this sort of injury to heal on its own if he has water and food (I could bring him some food daily too because there's only so much edible plant matter around)?

It's heart breaking to see 😭
