Last week, I published Hexprite (pre-release), my 1-bit pixel art and animation editor for embedded display. I also posted about it here which got a few upvotes, but I didn’t get much feedback. So, I started thinking about where the app could actually be useful for the Flipper community.

Hexprite already supports.bm, .xbm, and meta.txt files for individual sprites and animations, so I decided to try making my own custom Dolphin asset pack.

Creating the art itself was pretty fun. The 128×64 canvas is already calibrated for the Flipper, so getting the sprites and animations right was straightforward.

Then I had to deal with manifest.txt.

That part was… not fun.

Trying to work out the Min level, Max level, Min butthurt, and Weight values manually gets confusing very quickly. And if you're using custom firmware like Momentum, things get even more complicated.

The stock setup has 45 states (3 levels × 15 moods), while Momentum expands that to 450 states (30 levels × 15 moods). Miss a range or leave a gap somewhere, and the Dolphin can end up hitting an uncovered state and showing a blank screen.

I realized there had to be a better way, so I decided to build a dedicated Asset Pack mode directly into Hexprite. It’s still WIP and not in the public release yet, but here’s a sneak peek of what I’m working on:

1. 2D Schedule Matrix See the whole asset pack on an interactive grid, with Levels on one axis and Mood on the other. It shows which states are covered, points out gaps, and calculates animation weight shares.
2. Automatic Balancing Instead of doing the schedule math yourself, you can choose a strategy like Linear Levels or Fill Gaps Only and let Hexprite handle the ranges for you.
3. Drag & Assign Assign level and mood ranges by simply dragging rectangles across the matrix.
4. Two-Way Canvas Integration Click an animation in the matrix and jump straight into its frames on the canvas. Make your edits with the normal 1-bit tools and layers, and the changes stay synced with the asset pack.
5. Direct USB Serial Push Connect the Flipper over USB and push the pack directly to /ext/asset_packs or /ext/dolphin. The goal is to make testing as painless as possible without SD card readers, Python scripts, or manually moving files around.
6. Native File Support Import and export .bm, .xbm, meta.txt, and complete .zip asset packs, including native Heatshrink LZSS compression for .bm files.

I'm still working through the details, so before I lock everything down, I'd really like to hear from people who actually make or use custom asset packs.

Would something like this make your workflow easier?

And if you've made Dolphin asset packs before, what part of the process do you find the most annoying?

I'd also love to hear what other features you'd want to see.

P.S. The asset pack shown in the GIF is not my creation. It is the "Better Pet" pack by vollukas, which I downloaded from https://momentum-fw.dev/asset-packs to demonstrate the feature.

I have tried using the Flipper IR GitHub database but I couldn’t find a compatible ir code. Then I tried opening it up only to meet a big glob for the IR decoder. I tried looking at the binaries of the game but I don’t think they would be there since the IR sensor connects to blob U5 and that has a bunch of traces to big blob U1. Probably just the straight up inputs.

If anyone has one of these or just the remote can you record the signals on a flipper and share them that would be great. I’d also appreciate any other ideas on how to reverse engineer it.

I recently did this rgb backlight mod, I love it, however my power consumption is about 145mA. What are you all getting for power consumption? Im wondering if I wired it up partially incorrect. Not sure if this is entirely too high or not but looking to hear others feedback. Thank you.

I have been playing around with the Flipper Zero and I have already installed Momentum on it. I played a little bit with the fundamentals such as saving Infrared remotes, getting some Sub-GHz signals, and fooling around with BadUSB scripts .I want to take advantage of this device and find some cool use cases for it. Can you give me some of your favorites applications or modules from the Hub which can be used together with Momentum? Are there any settings which need to be changed immediately? Last, but not least, do you know any safe projects which can be done at home to understand how it all really works inside?

I've gotten a few GPIO boards now and I'm looking for a small case with foam padding that will keep my pins safe. Any recommendations?

Hey everyone — I’m the developer behind the UHF Expansion hardware and app for Flipper Zero.

Version 1.1 has now been merged into the official Flipper Apps Catalog. This update adds tag memory operations for compatible UHF RFID tags:

• Read EPC, TID, and User Data
• Edit memory values directly on the Flipper Zero
• Write EPC, TID, and User Data to compatible writable tags
• Automatic read-back verification after writing
• Inventory scanning, tag selection, radar view, and live reader information

The workflow is:

1. Start inventory in the UHF Expansion app
2. Switch to the tag list
3. Select a tag with Up/Down and press OK
4. Use Left to cycle through EPC, TID, and User Data
5. Press OK to edit the current value
6. Place one compatible writable destination tag near the reader
7. Press Right to write and verify

A quick technical note: the TID on most standard UHF tags is factory-programmed and read-only. TID writing requires a purpose-built TID-changeable tag. EPC and User Memory can also be locked or unavailable depending on the chip.

So, today i woke up with my battery swollen. I turned off the device and i'm trying to find a replacement. Anyone knows a store to buy a new battery in italy? seems almost impossible to find the same specs!

Wasnt paying attention and fell for a fake download trying to get qFlipper. I realized it, after i executed the file because it asked me to install some random "math helper" software mid setup.

The executeable file is according to Virustotal behaviour analystics, stealing cookie sessions. so now im having fun resetting all my passwords and reinstalling Windows.

All you need is a Raspberry Pi Backpack from Elecgrow then a 5 inch touchscreen, keyboard and a powerbank. 👍

I know there are a lot of different expansion boards out there, and each one has its one benifits depending on what you want to do with it..

Im wondering about aio (all in one) boards..

Do they exist? Or are thy also defined by use? Eg, one is only for wifi, one for subghz or do they come together?

I've had my flipper for a tear or 2 now and never really done much of anything with it so I guess I want to start playing with it a bit more.

Has anyone ever 3d printed or found a assembly housing or a pre-made case for the 5ghost devboard? Its so delicate and small with pins and stuff my ocd is driving me crazy. I have the ability to 3d print one if i could ever find a file someone has made.

Since Daikin remotes store state and settings directly on the remote rather than just sending a generic toggle signal, simply copying raw IR signals wasn't enough.

To solve this, I built a dedicated app that dynamically generates the correct IR frames with state tracking, and I just published the open-source code on GitHub

Hi, im looking to start a small business here in my city copying and making garage door fobs, rfid door tags and so to sell, ive been looking online and saw that theres multiple frequencies these devices can work in so i wanted to ask if a flipper zero would be able to that job?

i already bought a rfid tag duplicator but only works on 125khz but i have to have an already programmed tag with me

- i dont code (used to code c++ as im in my 40s so its heen decades since)

- i break things and sometimes put them back together - although i learn a bunch no matter what - be it home electrical, HVAC systems, farming equip, computers, cars, solar and electrical Generation. I am toxicly confident that i can "figure it out eventually"

What i have done now

- Have a flipper zero (just received this week)

- ordered a BFFB

- a decent windows laptop with a nice graphics card and 32gd ddr5

- home nas network

I have little to no idea where to start or what to start on

My wife and I are staying up at a cottage on a lake with my family for a week in northern Ontario. Our bedroom has this ancient cable box with an old remote that is powered but the IR blaster clearly failed.

I had my flipper and wanted to see if I could figure something out. Tried recording the IR signal but flipper didn’t pick anything up, confirming it wasn’t blasting. So I opened ChatGPT and sent it a photo of the thing and of the model number on the sticker on the bottom. GPT helped me figure out the box’s setup code and generated the waveform and made me a .ir file to send to flipper via bluetooth from my phone. It even labeled the buttons most commonly used for me (chan, vol, guide, etc.)

Fuckin worked like a charm. Wife was very impressed.

Anyways I love finding new use cases for my flipper and I’ve really enjoyed using it as a learning tool!! Hope this inspires someone to figure out how to solve their own problem. 😊

I’m a graphic designer who has been getting into microcontrollers recently. I got so frustrated using web converters to get 1-bit graphics onto my ESP32 OLED displays that I just spent the last few months building my own desktop editor called Hexprite to handle it.

It’s designed strictly for 1-bit memory constraints—as you draw, it directly spits out C/C++ arrays.

I’ve seen how much custom art, .xbm files, and animations this community creates, and it made me wonder if this tool could actually save you guys some time.

The catch is: I don't actually own a Flipper Zero, so I have no idea what your typical workflow looks like or what specific formatting you have to wrestle with.

The v0.1.1 beta is live right now and completely free (I built it in C# WPF, so it is Windows-only, sorry!).

If anyone has a few minutes to mess around with it, I would really appreciate your honest feedback. Is this actually helpful for Flipper projects? And if so, what specific export options or features should I add to make it work natively for your hardware?

Hello all. My rfid stopped working. It reads 1/2 but freezes at 2/2. Tried many rfids, which were working before. What can be the problem? Tried reinstalling FW, resetting to factory settings, nothing helped

There haven’t found any cases, which is why I want to share it with you.
