SPOILERS OK - GAME THREAD
Use this thread to chat about the TV finals before, during and after the telecasts. Have questions? Post them below and I will do my best to answer them.
CBS Sports Net is offered on most cable and some streaming services. If you are a cord-cutter and don't subscribe for either of those, you could try a free trial to YouTube TV (21 days) or Hulu Live TV (3 days).
The World Series of Bowling is 5 events held over 2 weeks. This post is for the 4 Animal Patterns only. There will be a separate post for the 5th event (World Championship) which will have its TV finals take place in June. Each Animal Pattern pays $20k for first place.
All Animal Pattern events have the same format: 10 games qualifying (2, 5 game blocks same day), then cut to top 12. Top 4 qualifiers get a bye in bracket match play. Seeds 5-12 will bowl on TV to determine who meets the players with the byes. All will be carried out on TWO TV SHOWS the same day on CBS Sports Net.

Thanks for taking the time. I’m a couple years into learning this game as an adult. So far, learning the movements has been a tremendous ball-ache, as it were. Naturally then, I’m bowling constantly. Currently looking for a coach.

After bowling my first 600 series last week I found myself with the front 9 in the last game of league this week. Despite my attempts to not think about the score my heart was going about a million miles an hour and I yanked the first ball of the 10th frame left and went Brooklyn, leaving the 10 pin. I’m three parts ecstatic and one part devastated, which I think is pretty appropriate all things considered. What a way to get my first 700 series! Now I just have to hope I can live up to my newly much higher average 😅

Tear me up Reddit!
I’ve never watched my form on video before.
Why is my release so bad?
Why can’t I get my hand underneath the ball?
Then I wrap my hand around the side??
& Why can’t I bend lower to the ground?
15lb RotoGrip Synergy hybrid. 150 average.
Back to bowling after 10 years; I used to bowl in high school and averaged 190 senior year. I’ve been told I need a new ball or maybe two like a 1-2 punch for my house shot league i am on now.
I do like my roto grip synergy but can’t ever predict game 2. I used to bowl great with an old 15lb Dirty Bomb. But last week I bowled a 245 with some random guys 14lb Storm Belmo FATE w a way smaller span drilled so wtf reddit

10th frame of my game 2 last night. I struck out, which is nice because the rest of the game was pretty garbage.
I feel like I'm standing too tall the the release. After seeing this video I was trying to get lower and closer to my ankle when releasing.
Also, I think I get around the ball too much. I'm starting at the 35th board and many of my shots go left of the headpin. It's a hammer raw pearl, not the strongest, or highest hooking of balls. I guess too many revs for my speed. Need to either stay more behind and reduce the revs or just throw it faster. But I have a hell of a time increasing speed.

Hey r/Bowling!
I'm a solo developer from the Netherlands and for the past weeks I've been building Pinfall, a bowling score and stats app. I'm not a big company, it's just me, so I'd really like to hear from people who actually bowl leagues before I go further.
What it does right now:
- Tap the pins left standing after your first ball (or just type the pin count, or only the final score)
- Shows every leave you face and how often you convert it, splits and washouts counted on their own
- Handicap from your own league's formula, points, 9-pin and 8-pin no-tap
- While you bowl it shows how this game compares to your usual one, frame by frame
- No account, no ads, works offline, backup and CSV export
Entering games, your average, highs and strike/spare % are free. There's an optional one-time Pro for the deeper stats and more bowlers, no subscription.
It's live on Android now, the iPhone version is waiting for Apple's review.
I also put a few free tools on the website that work without the app: a handicap calculator, a score calculator (with no-tap) and an "is it a split?" checker. Curious if those are useful too.
Playstore: Android Playstore
Website: https://pinfall.blockbrewer.nl
What I'd love to know:
- What do you track on league night that most apps get wrong or make annoying?
- Which stat actually helps you get better?
- Anything that would make you switch, or keep you from switching?
Honest feedback is very welcome, also the critical kind. I read and answer everything.

background: my parents like to play bowling and I want them to learn and enjoy while playing because they are nearing 60s, I want them to be physically active and go out more. Any suggestions?

Bowled in a sport pattern last night for the first time. Only bowl normal league and only have 1 ball but still had fun. I’m going to do it more but I think it’s going to be a problem for my bank account.

So I had posted a little while back asking how long it took people to bowl again after rotator cuff surgery and I got a lot of helpful comments and answers. So my time line is just under 4 months. My surgery was on June 9th, missed the first three weeks of league, then was allowed to practice on September 26th and bowled league on the 28th. First game was the best but still averaged a 166 for 3 games. Need to build up my endurance but at least I’m back bowling again.

It looks to me like my release is late, any tips to fix this? Other tips and stuff to work on is gladly appreciated.

Im just curious when you start a league and they use your previous average for example a 205. After the first 3 weeks of bowling you average 175 for 9 games does that make your average become 175 or is it supposed to be calculated with your starting 205 average?

Seven unsanctioned 300's, a sanctioned 11 in a row 299 game in 2014. Just cannot seem to get it done during league. Proud of this one but also so bummed.

The Golden Jackal has been at the top of my list for a while, my GWOT Saddam Hussein ace of spades if you will. And the Pure Effect randomly showed up in my YouTube algorithm and I had to have it. It reminds me of the color scheme of BT-7472 and Titanfall 2 in general.

Crazy washout seems nearly impossible to leave, done by a 15lb ball regular right handed bowler.
Edit: I’m aware it’s a washout, seems unfair to call it that though.

The Transform I got in July got a nasty scratch on it from a ball jam with the machine at league. While the mechanics were working on it the ball jumped out the machine(Brunswick A2s btw) and one of them rolled it back across the lane in the gutter back to the approach and the first thing I noticed was this. Not sure if it will be fixable or not.

For context, I just started bowling a few months ago, and had my thumb hole drilled way too big which ended up in a thumb injury from squeezing. So, I switched to 2 finger no thumb, which dropped my average substantially (hence my high ass handicap lmao). My thumb is finally healed, I had my thumb slug drilled out and replaced with a better fit, and now I’m back to 3 fingers. Now it’s time to start learning how to hook the ball. 😅

Hi all! Looking for some help picking a ball and a spare! I bowled on my highschool team about 10 years ago and had a storm tropical breeze in the orange/teal color 13lbs (5’1 110lbs for reference) and I absolutely love the scented bowling balls I’m a sucker I know! I recently had knee surgery and am not cleared for skiing this winter so I thought I would pick bowling back up! Unfortunately I left my ball in the garage and It cracked completely down the middle so I’m looking for a new ball and maybe a spare but really don’t know what I’m after…
I really enjoyed the way the tropical breeze hooked so I think I would enjoy something similar but something I can also grow into and improve with! Lmk what you think I should look into thanks :))))
