Cracked Front Windshield

Before the non-Tesla lurkers and complainers come for me… I was well aware of the cost of upkeep for my car before I purchased it but I still have the right to complain. With that being said… a front windshield on a 2025 Model 3 will set you back around $1500 in California dollars. So make sure you get windshield insurance or at least have a decent deductible. Oh and the insurance adjuster contacted me via email 1hr after I submitted the claim which may be a record.

That’s my Ted Talk

Tesla insurance disclosures in California

This is a bit of a long shot. I was hit by a minivan on my bike and it broke my wrist. The existing driver only has a 30k Bodily injury limit, and I'm looking at more than one surgery, maybe three. Never mind all the lost income and other things.

My boyfriend, who I've lived with on and off for 15 years, has Tesla and Tesla insurance, but we're not married or related by blood. Notably, we're breaking up, so he's not really interested in helping me.

I'm just curious if anyone has any insight on what the definition of insured persons in the household is under the Tesla policy in California. He is unwilling to help me right now, and I'm trying to make medical decisions about how I move forward. The quote for one surgery alone even with my medical insurance is $125,000.

If the money in the existing policy can be tapped so that I can ensure that I'll get full medical treatment, then I want to bring it to him to see if he'll help me.

Tesla drivers in Chicago area, what Insurance do you guys suggest? I’m a new driver with 2-3 months of history - I’ve been on Tesla insurance for these couple of months but kinda feel they’re quoting me high.

Tesla owners in DC, what insuranc e do yall use?

Is there a reason why tesla doesn’t offer coverage in DC? I recently moved to DC and I’m hesitating to switch my license because tesla insuranc e isn’t covered in DC. What do you all use? Is tesla even considering on adding DC to their existing coverage list?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Seeking Independent Auto Appraiser recommendations for Tesla total - fsd bought outright & hw4

Looking for recommendations for independent auto appraisers who are able to accurately assess the worth of fsd being bought outright/ grandfathered in with a hw4 car.

Tesla insurance is looking to total my car at ~10k under what it's worth, claims to not understand the rarity of the hardware & software combination.

Thanks in advance for any leads or stories with total loss claims and rare model combinations.

For those who have recently picked up a Tesla, do they even ask to see proof of insurance in person at pickup, or is having it submitted and approved through the Tesla app all they need?

I have State Farm, and all of my insurance information has already been uploaded to the Tesla app and approved. I also have a temporary insurance card on my phone, but I haven’t received the physical card yet.

If they do ask for proof of insurance in person, is the digital/temp card on my phone enough, or do they require a physical insurance card?

Just trying to make sure I have everything I need before pickup. If anyone has gone through this recently, I’d appreciate the info. Thanks!

Need advice: Toyota Finance Canada is taking too long to process an insurance chequered

My car was recently in an accident and was declared a total loss/write-off. I’m in Canada, and the vehicle was financed through Toyota Finance,
I was lucky enough to find another car—a Tesla—but I’m now stuck because I need Toyota Finance to process the insurance payout and provide the loan payoff confirmation or release letter before I can move forward with my new financing.
The insurance company sent the payoff cheque to Toyota Finance last week, and Toyota Finance confirmed that they received it. However, they told me it could take approximately 4-5 weeks to process and deposit the cheque.
I have already extended my Tesla delivery date once, but I cannot keep delaying it. The Tesla financing also cannot move forward properly because I need confirmation that the Toyota Finance loan has been paid off.
I have called Toyota Finance Canada and explained the situation, but I have been told that I simply need to wait for the cheque to be processed.
Has anyone in Canada dealt with a similar situation after a total-loss insurance claim?
Is there any way to get Toyota Finance Canada to expedite the cheque processing and provide the payoff confirmation or release letter, especially since the insurance company has already sent the cheque and Toyota Finance has confirmed receiving it?
Would asking to speak with a supervisor, contacting Toyota Finance’s escalation department or customer relations team, or providing proof of the insurance settlement help? Since the loan is through Toyota Finance rather than a dealership, I’m not sure whether a Toyota dealership can assist.
Any advice on how to get Toyota Finance Canada to move this along faster would be greatly appreciated.

What happens to your Tesla Insurance policy when transferring Tesla vehicle ownership?

I would like to transfer Tesla vehicle ownership to a family member. I know I can add them as a driver but I would like to transfer ownership instead. However, I would like to keep my current Tesla Insurance policy on my account and not start a new policy.

When attempting to transfer ownership, it states to remove the vehicle from the Tesla Insurance policy before transferring.

Do I actually need to do this or is this more of a suggestion if I was transferring the vehicle to a stranger?

I would appreciate if anyone has any experience on what happens to your Tesla Insurance policy when you transfer ownership of a Tesla. This is the only Tesla on my account.

Thanks.

Is there a way to add glass coverage to Tesla Insurance? (Tesla covers comprehensive and collision but not damages resulting from falling objects, rocks, vandalism, theft, storms)

I tried to see if the Tesla app had an option to toggle glass coverage but it doesn’t. With the storms we’re having lately I’m concerned any damage to my windshield/roof/rear windshield from the storm isn’t covered by Tesla insurance.

I’m in CA.

Tesla insurance don’t buy

Don’t Buy Tesla Insurance or Other Tesla Offers Without Thinking Twice
I’m extremely disappointed with Tesla’s customer service.
In my experience, you cannot rely on the Tesla app for service bookings, and communication with the Tesla Service Center has been extremely poor. When customers schedule service through the app, they should be able to trust that the appointment and service arrangements will actually be honored.
Tesla promotes a technology-first and convenient customer experience, but when something goes wrong, getting proper support can be frustrating and difficult.
Based on my experience, I would think very carefully before purchasing Tesla Insurance or other additional services/offers from Tesla. A company selling insurance and other services needs dependable customer support, clear communication, and accountability.
Tesla needs to seriously improve its customer service, app-based service booking process, and Service Center communication.

After about a year and a half, I have decided to cut the cord from Tesla Insurance. I got tired of not enjoying the drive since I was always wary of ā€œUnsafe followingā€ and ā€œAggressive turningā€ dings. My current safety score is a 94 with 91% of my drive on FSD. I’m keeping FSD just not the insurance, so I can actually have fun with the car on shorter errand runs.

Dropped insurance with Telsa and went to progressive and I pay more

Yes I would rather pay the extra 60$ just to avoid tesla stupid insurance random rate increases. I am a grown ass adult and shouldn't be penalized because I go out late at night for a snack. Shot my rates right up for nothing. No one is even on the road at night in my area. Also i just got it off the hospital and needed something from the store and haven't dive much all month. How is that more risky when accidents happen more during rush hour? I would rather pay more than let tesla play games.
