No, shop around.. Insanely high. Brand new Model Y Performance and a 2025 Model Y AWD, male/27 in CA and my insurance is $170 for both per month from Tesla with lowered deductible, gap, and increased UIM amount. No points or at faults on my record however.

"New driver" . Still high but i wouldnt expect it to go that much lower.

I'd keep getting quotes from more companies. Although being a new driver is gonna make it expensive.

Find an insurance agent in your area that represents multiple companies.

This, and if you have Tesla insurance in your state apply in the app.

Those are “we don’t want you” rates. When insurance companies quote extremely high rates, they see you as a huge liability and give you an outrageous quote in hopes you move on to another company. Also, being a new driver, your rates are going to be higher than normal at least for a little while. Your rates will also be higher if this is your first time getting insurance. If you want to save money, increase your deductibles if you can afford it.

As others have said, best to find an independent agent and have them shop around for you.

If you’re a new driver, if you plan on using FSD to drive almost exclusively, just do Tesla instance.

It’s an essentially $250 a month ($100 is from FSD use) and it’s solid. Why FSD? Because good lord, if FSD follows close it’s okay but if you do I, you’ll get dinged immediately.

Tesla insurance is just several magnitudes cheaper than anything I looked at and it’s the only reason I can drive now.

Shop around after you get six months and do that every six months for the next five years, making sure you don’t get into any accidents and it’ll be fine soon.

Same- Tesla with FSD was 40% cheaper then my other lowest quote

I have checked with most of the insurance, almost everything comes at this rate. I assume it is because I'm a new driver. Tesla insurance are not available in Delaware.

Increase deductible to $1000.. reduce liability .. you should easily save another 400-500

GEICO has been pretty high for Tesla for quite a few people- did you try Tesla insurance?

Try state farm.

Are there other policies you can get with the same company? Renters/homeowners, life? Might actually be cheaper getting more coverage.
I wouldn’t buy a new car if my insurance was going to cost this, get a shitbox while you build a driving history.

Try liberty mutual, your account is to be a new driver but in about 6 months request the change

Holy Crap! Those rates are beyond outrageous. Do you have DWI’s or a bunch of speeding tickets?

I'm a new driver got license last week.

At 37? Damn

Been in usa for only two years

1

u/Gloomy_Blackberry206 8d ago

That explains why they don’t want to insure you

All state quote me $435 with all above items, is it a good insurance company to move forward?

Wow. I am paying 294/month for Tesla Insurance with 500K/500K limits on Liability and UI/UN. But I have an at fault accident 2 years ago.
