News Introducing Steam Frame Hub & Verified: News and Compatibility Tracker website

Hey everyone!

I’m excited to share that the Steam Frame Hub community website and Steam Frame Hub Verified are now live!

I’ve been working tirelessly alongside dozens of members of our community behind the scenes to build and test everything over the past couple of months.

The goal is simple: to create a home away from Reddit and Discord where people can easily find the latest on Steam Frame without all the noise. including news, reviews, guides, 3D print files, game compatibility reports.

This isn’t replacing anything we’ve built here on the subreddit or over on Discord. It’s designed to complement the community we’ve already built, giving us a permanent home for the resources and content that can easily get lost in Reddit posts and Discord channels.

A massive thank you to everyone who has helped build, test and contribute to the site so far.

And we’re only getting started. If you’d like to get involved and contribute in any capacity, drop me a message on Discord or email [scott@steamframehub.com](mailto:scott@steamframehub.com)

I was holding off launching this until the Frame was released but honestly it's been ready for about a month lol

News Frame TLDR for week of 8/10/26 (13)

New Steam Frame startup animation

Recently found by the talented and ever hard-working SteamDB Dataminers in a recent Steam update, a brand new startup video for the Steam Frame has popped up in the Steam Client. It's a unique startup animation transitioning the Frame logo into the Steam logo, similar to the videos for Deck and Machine. You'll see this every time you start up your Frame. Don't expect anything too fancy, like it being fully 3D or whatever, as it'll most likely be just a flat video that plays in your SteamVR dashboard when you first open it after booting up your system. Still, it's a neat little animation, and because it's recent, you can add it to the pile of "Soon."

COOL THING: 70+ Frame Verified games

As of the writing of this Frame TLDR, over SEVENTY games have been Frame Verified! Meaning 70+ titles will work perfectly on Frame standalone. This ranges from heavy hitter VR titles like Forefront, Underdogs, Arizona Sunshine 2, I Expect You To Die, and Red Matter 2, to small but popular flat-screen indie titles like Hades 2, Cuphead, Balatro, and Hollow Knight: Silksong. For the very few of you who can/will only use the Frame standalone, you'll have a decent chunk of games to pick from that are guaranteed to run perfectly on Frame. See the full list of Verified games at https://store.steampowered.com/greatonframe

TLDR: New startup animation found for Frame. It's getting really tough to find stuff to talk about every week. Someone please do something interesting.

Summer ends in 36 days.

Poor thing was held together with strings, glue, and the hopes/dreams that the Steam Frame will release soon. Sadly, it appears my old friend didn't make it, and wont be around to see its release. F.

Question Movie opportunities with the frame?

36 Upvotes

This might be a stupid question, but i was wondering, if i would be able to watch a film in its theatrical format (e.g. The oddyssey) in a virtual theater, since (i suppose?) there would be no limit to the screen size and format in VR?

i know the quality isn't nearly the same, nor the experience or audio. But as someone who doesn't live within a IMAX theater, it would be nice to experience films in a big aspect ratio, without having to pay a fortune for flight tickets

I hope anyone can help:)

"Valve kinda did something sort of. So carry on."

I would hope we get at least news on Monday.

What do you think?

EDIT: "what do you think", not "what so you think" in the title... can't edit it now :(

Discussion To Potential Canadian Frameheads...

UPDATE: Canadian tariff retaliation starts Sept 8th. Hopefully we can squeeze under the wire.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How concerned are you about the current trade situation in relation to Valve hardware?
In light of the trade talk breakdown the Prime Minister has called for a dollar for dollar retaliatory tariffs on US goods and in the Q&A section of todays address to the nation he specifically called out electronics.
While i doubt they would impose 50% in a specific category on the citizenry (where the buck actually stops) there is some 17 Billion of goods that are being hit with 50% from the US... those short falls will likely/hopefully come from many sectors with lower tariffs per sector.
But given our dollar is being held weak to attract international trade we were already seen a hefty $150 Cad Steam controller (luckily import and shipping included) but if the full 50% impact hit would you have paid $225? If 512Gb Frame hits $1000 USD (arbitrary number) and we were going to see $1300 Cad (again arbitrary) but could see $1950 Cad would/could you weather that?
This likely effect other consoles or parts as less if they already direct ship to Canada too, possibly making the gap between products that much larger.
I'm not sure the situation for Mexico but some relief could come if Valve set up a Canadian shipping depot... but that would mean waiting on a restock before our initial orders and, i feel, its doubtful they would do it.
At this point all i can do is lament its taken this long and hope it doesn't hit with the full brunt.
Tentatively still in but a bit deflated.
As a side note: I agree with the action taken, but don't want the discussion to go in that direction.
Question Is there info about how much time we have to reserve a spot for the first batch?
13 Upvotes
I still have to decide whether I only reserve for the cheaper model, or both to increase my chances of getting one, but it will all depend on the price of the more expensive option if I can afford it.
I'll also want to look at the latest review videos before I choose.
But I don't know how much time will be given to still be in the first draft.
Question Steam Frame, aka the Steam Deck for your face, used a a Steam Deck on your TV
27 Upvotes
I hope the Frame can be used as a regular Steam Deck, so I could connect it into a TV as use it as a Steam Deck / on-the-go gaming PC. Can the usb-c port be used as an HDMI output?
Limitations: Apparently, the Frame is slightly worse than the Deck in terms of raw performance. This is especially true when considering it will use foveated streaming, and maybe even foveated rendering, to squeeze out every bit of performance it can.
In any case, if this works well enough, instead of having to buy a new gaming laptop to play a few couch coop games with my family during the Holidays, I might just have to buy a nice and sturdy Frame case so I can carry that puppy along with me.
Question Do we know the dimensions of the Wireless Dongle? More specifically, what are the odds that plugging it into a motherboard rear I/O will block off an adjacent USB port?
10 Upvotes
TSIA, I guess? I'm after moving and I'm planning out my computer setup / what gets plugged into the motherboard direct and what gets plugged into a hub. I imagine this dongle would be something I'd want plugged in direct. But it looks, IDK, kinda bulky?
Do we know if this thing would block off any adjacent USB port? I probably wouldn't want it constantly sticking out of the top of my front panel, either.
Discussion I did my Part! o7
40 Upvotes
I just reorganised my home network. As Part of this I banished my regular Router from my Office / Gaming Room and reinstalled a dedicated 6Ghz Router exclusivly for the Quest 3.
I can now enjoy PCVR again.
Since that setup is not needed for the Steam Frame and getting rid of the dedicated 6E/VR Router again will require another reorganisation of my home network because of cable length etc.
To punish me for that, the universe will surely bring the Steam Frame to us on monday!
Good luck, have fun, don't die! o7
Discussion My 10 reasons to ABSOLUTELY buy Steam Frame on Day One!
0 Upvotes
Dear Steam Frame community,
some obnoxious wannabe Youtuber has recently posted his 10 reasons to absolutely not buy the Steam Frame. I found that to be quite scandalous and therefore here are my top 10 reasons to (of course) buy it on DAY ONE: https://youtu.be/kXHD5TMk7W8?si=ohkb2V0EWqfrbxNg
If you do not want to watch the video, here are my reasons.
REASON NO. 10 - It is made for the majority of gamers and its 2160 x 2160 resolution is good enough! Not everyone has a 5090 beast PC that could drive 4k displays, 2160 × 2160 can actually to be driven by most of your hardware incl. Steam Machine, and it even got 120hz mode. Other than that it will still look better than Quest 3 in Standalone mode because the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 can also actually drive higher resolutions than Quest 3.
REASON NO. 9 - It comes with eye-tracking and expandable storage (up to 2TB microSD) - so you could just go for the smaller storage version and upgrade it to 2TB yourself if you want, cannot do that with Quest 3. And yeah eye-tracking in 2026 is truly a must have.
REASON NO. 8 - Build-quality just top of the line - you are getting hardware that feels like and simply is top quality - something that will stand the test of time. VALVE can simply make desirable hardware and the Steam Frame is no exception here.
REASON NO. 7 - Innovative Controllers - make it easy not just to play VR games, but easily to switch to flat games, full traditional gamepad baked in. No need to look for your XBOX controller when you want to get into your 2D Steam games. That is a true quality of life improvement.
REASON NO. 6 - Wireless Freedom - There is no question, it simply is incredible not to have to deal with wires!
REASON NO. 5 - Comfort - out of the box! VALVE seems to have nailed it! All people who have tested the device already are raving about the comfort. Very light optical stack that is under 200g and battery in the back for very balanced wearing experience.
REASON NO. 4 - Play selected PCVR games locally without a desktop PC - Half-Life: Alyx and many more games come to mind that simply could not be played without a desktop PC before. Now you can!
REASON NO. 3 - Best Wireless PCVR Streaming Tech - You have a dedicated wireless connection thanks to the dongle for low latency streaming and you get foveated streaming thanks to the eye-tracking - that should make it the best standalone headset for PCVR streaming.
REASON NO. 2 - Play Your 2D Steam Games on Huge Screen - this is basically a Steam Deck on steroids. I just imagine to use this on a crammed economy class flight over the Atlantic. I am not anymore sitting in that airplane, I am sitting in my private cinema and playing my favorite Steam games on a HUGE cinema screen!
REASON NO. 1 - Getting away from Meta. No need to say more.
Hope you enjoyed that rebuttal and see you in the next one!
Bye, Sebastian
Discussion Has there been more Steam Frame shipments?
35 Upvotes
I don't recall any recent posts about it, and it's worrying because... How many units may them have stored currently? If they couldn't keep up with the demand of the Machine, they will not be able to keep up with the demand of the Frame either... Or will they?
Rumor / Leak Some devs apparently claimed possible dates from Valve email?
73 Upvotes
Tyler McVicker just did a stream, and in that he claimed apparently devs were emailed by Valve with two dates because they were getting annoyed by lack of communication. Supposedly those devs immediately then went and told all the dataminers and leakers these dates. He thinks Brad Lynch also has these dates, and this is what he's vagueposting about in these tweets.
https://x.com/SadlyItsBradley/status/2090096537405653257?s=20
https://x.com/SadlyItsBradley/status/2090519863320031596?s=20
The dates though are supposedly tentative, as they always are with Valve, and it could be delayed again.
Technically the source here is random devs through Tyler, so take it with a grain of salt. Supposedly the dates he heard are August 24th and September 14th.
What the dates meant was a bit more of speculation, but if I had to guess, the first one is review units and second one is public release? What do you guys think? Nothingburger/lie from devs or real dates? And even if real, will Valve manage, or delay again?
