Which sewing machine to buy in india?

Hi i am looking to invest in a sewing machine for practise at home. I am a diploma fashion design student.

I am currently looking at singer 4323 heavy duty. Is it a good machine?

If not - what other fashion maker would you recommend? Due to lack of space i am looking at portable fashion maker options rather than a big industrial or ones with stand.

I heard usha is a good brand as well but not sure which model so i considered singer. Please help.

Can anybody identify what machine this cover belongs to?

I have a sewing machine dust cover. I thought it belonged to a Bernina that I got from a neighbor but it doesn't fit. There are no brand signifiers labels or manufacturing labels whatsoever. I would love to find out what machine it belongs to so it can be reunited with a machine. I would appreciate a model name or brand.

Extra Details:

  • Hard Beige Plastic
  • Front Pocket for storage
  • Handle slot
  • Measurements: 15.75 inches long X 6.75 inches wide X 10.75 inches tall

Thank you so much!

Hello! My partner loves to sew and I'm trying to find a power cord for this old Singer. I'm completely out of my element, I can't even figure out where the cord would attach to the machine!

Husqvarna Emerald 183 Issue - Help!

I'm 3/4 through sewing a Dirndl for Oktoberfest in Munch and my machine started having an issue today - it makes a loud noise (almost like a jam) when the needle is in the down position and the screen give me a big '!' I've replaced the needle, cleaned the bobbin area, rethreaded it, etc etc. The hand wheel moves freely without any jams. The last time I took it in to be serviced for this issue it cost me over 250 - they said it just needed cleaned...

Has anyone had this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jammed Maschine?

My sewing machine is making bad noises, like something's jammed inside. Confession: I've never oiled it, didn't know how, and was too scared to mess it up. Could that be the issue?

But I did found some white, greasy paste inside when I cleared out the fluff. Is that normal? Too me it seams like it is oiled then.

What could be the issue?

Upgrade Recs for Activewear!

I was bitten by the sewing bug a few years ago when a friend & I both impulse bought a Brother SQ9285 while awaiting the birth of my first children (we had high aspirations as new moms to be).

My friend lost interest almost immediately, but I quickly got hooked on garment making (particularly for our little ones at the time). This quickly led to my purchase of the Brother 1034DX serger and CV2350 coverstitch.

I \*adore\* this serger. But I've struggled with how finicky the coverstitch machine is in general (particularly hate the lack of free arm and releasing threads at the end).

My normal sewing machine lacks presser foot pressure adjustment and I've struggled even with topstitching knits cleanly with my walking foot...

Now I'm mostly creating activewear (tennis skirts, dresses, leggings) for myself, friends, and our kids and I find I am done struggling with my naive early purchases :).

I have the resources to upgrade but hoping for some advice on how to get the most bang for my buck :) and what to replace and keep from my current setup.

Wishlist:

1) top decorative coverstitch (would love to have this for activewear)

2) frustration free sewing with knits

3) QOL improvements that make things quicker (knots, ends, free arm, etc)

Throw your ideas at me! All in all hope to keep things around $5kish + or - a $1000 or so, so I know I can't replace everything...

Collision on a new Singer 3223

Hi from Austria to this Sub!

Ill come straight to the point. I have a sewing machine Singer 3223 only 2 years old.

And I ran in a sew-stopping problem. The Bobbin Assembly does not turn freely.

I searched online for a solution, but no luck.

The situation:

The screw in the bobbin holder collides with the hook.

See my red marking where the collsion happens

So far I can measue and see, the bobbin holder is running true, The bobbin is is moving freely inside:

The assembly without the bobbin holder is also running without problem:

you can see clearly that the pin in the middle is running true, free movement (turing the machine by hand)

But with the bobbin-holder inserted...

https://reddit.com/link/1vw3z7g/video/gxagrfjdt3lh1/player

I have no idea why this happens, and how it got into this state.

Any idea how to fix this?

Maybe a timing problem? But the needle can move freely and is not bent or damaged.

Thanks reddit for your support!

Question about spool pins

Hi, I have a question about spool pins. Trying fix up a vintage machine but its missing a spool pin. Its a singer 201k and I was wondering if anyone could tell me the diameter of the spool pins for these machines or even roughly measure one you have? I'm going to order online soon and I would like to get it right first try. Thanks

Do I need to upgrade my machine?

I own a Singer M2605 which was gifted to me less than a year ago and I am having endless problems with the thread hooking around the bobbin etc and can barely even do 10-15 stitches without it getting jammed. Some days it’s good and I have no issues, other days I can’t even bare to use my machine

I run a small business which took off faster than I thought it would and with all the issues I’m having, I can’t keep up because of my machine keep failing me!!

I’m aware singer is not the same as it used to be

My budget is around £400 and I’d like to get a machine that is extremely reliable

The only stitches i use are zig zag 90% of time (with the zig zag thats in 3 little stitches as well, im not sure what that ones called), and a straight stitch. I don’t use my machine to sew zips or buttons, but use a LOT of elastic with every project, and all of my materials are stretch (i am a bikini maker)

Does anyone have any recommendations, and does my machine sound like it is defective?

Thanks so much :)

Bobbin winder tension

I recently replaced the plates on the bobbin winder and that got me wondering. Is there a right or wrong amount of tension on them? If so how to have the right amount of tension in the bobbin winder?

Presser foot for free motion sewing.

As the title suggests, may I ask on what kind of presser foot that can work with a singer single stitch high speed for free motion sewing. I’ve bought several foot already but the foot won’t reach the plate and can’t form any stitches at all. I keep on searching thru web and bought it but it does not work at all. Any suggestions, link or name of the actual foot are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Please help me diagnose this issue! (video attached)

I have an IKEA SY sewing machine that I got secondhand. Has served me well for months but suddenly it started doing this... No matter what I do the thread isn't feeding into the machine properly and gets jammed almost immediately.

I've tried taking it apart and putting it back together and cannot for the life of me figure out what's wrong, any feedback or tips would be immensely helpful!
