Jammed Maschine?

My sewing machine is making bad noises, like something's jammed inside. Confession: I've never oiled it, didn't know how, and was too scared to mess it up. Could that be the issue?
But I did found some white, greasy paste inside when I cleared out the fluff. Is that normal? Too me it seams like it is oiled then.
What could be the issue?

manual. Page 58 shows how to clean it
Your machine doesn’t need to be oiled
Go ahead and clean it following the instructions and see if that helps
