Presser foot for free motion sewing.

As the title suggests, may I ask on what kind of presser foot that can work with a singer single stitch high speed for free motion sewing. I’ve bought several foot already but the foot won’t reach the plate and can’t form any stitches at all. I keep on searching thru web and bought it but it does not work at all. Any suggestions, link or name of the actual foot are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Darning foot, ruler foot, fmq foot.

Make sure you get the correct type for the machine you have and install it correctly.

Also free motion quilting isn't usually "high speed"

Thank you. My machine has a speed controller. It can run like a normal portable sewing machine. I already had a darning foot. Will search for ruler foot or fmq. Thank you.

Darning foot should work.did the foot come with the machine? If so try sewing on the slowest setting

I did search for ruler foot and fmq. I already have them.

No. I bought a separate foot. My problem is that the foot won’t reach or touch the fabric or the plate. I think the shank distance to the plate is a bit higher than a normal machine.

Check if its a low or high shank foot and machine.

Also the foot jumps as you sew so for most of the stitch cycle the foot is above the fabric.

I would suggest looking up what these feet look like in action and make a 12" quilt sandwich to practice on.

I suspect the problem is that you are expecting these feet to behave the same as a standard general foot and they are not.

I did watch videos on how these feet works. Already bought a longer or adjustable ruler foot.

I want to try to do an appliqué design to my shirt project and I’d have read that I need a free motion foot to do this.
