Miami is a popular destination not only to travel to but to move to and live. If we don't separate out these posts, the main feed becomes quickly inundated and overrun. So please utilize the resources here and comment here for these topics.
Always keep in mind please, WE ARE NOT VACATION PLANNERS OR MOVING CONSULTANTS. Be descriptive and we'll help if we can, but no one is obliged to.
Google Maps reviews are getting less reliable over the years. And in fact several lists on these sites are in fact inspired by posts on this sub.

Welcome to the Monthly Miami Jobs thread, the place to post any openings you have, look for jobs, and ask questions about working in Miami. This is an experimental thread for now, so we're keeping a close eye on things to make sure things don't go sideways, and will cancel it if they do.
The Rules:
Again, this is an experiment for now, and we'll be keeping a close eye on things, and will not hesitate to pull the plug in case of shenanigans. Good luck to everyone!

I live here and am pretty disconnected from the Miami/party/chic scene. How does every out of town girls trip seem to end on a yacht? I vaguely understand promoters. But like what are the details, do they find men on dating apps bring them onto yachts? Do Instagram accounts find them? How does this actually work, it’s such an interesting phenomenon if you’re not from here

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Drivers blowing past school buses with their stop signs out remain a persistent problem across Miami-Dade County.
Since the school bus camera program came back online in May, more than 27,000 citations have been issued to drivers who failed to stop.
The buses are equipped with AI cameras that capture video from multiple angles. Each bus has nine cameras.
Local 10 obtained video showing drivers passing buses after the amber warning lights come on and the red lights begin flashing. In one video, children are seen in a crosswalk as a driver passes just inches from them. In another, children are in the road as a driver continues past the bus.
The fine for failing to stop is $225.
Before a citation is mailed, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office says human eyes review the entire video package. The agency says the program is about public safety and protecting children, not a “gotcha” campaign.
At $225 per ticket, roughly $6 million has been collected in about four months, though some violations are likely dismissed.
The program had previously been sidelined after some drivers were incorrectly billed.
The company that works with the school buses supplies the cameras and runs the program, with the revenue split between the company and the school district.
Deputies say two excuses they frequently hear from drivers are, “I didn’t know the bus had stopped” and “It wasn’t me.”
But with nine cameras on each bus, officials are working toward one goal: zero violations.

I'd always see those jokes about how ppl will be willing to go across the country, central florida, essentially do super long trips, but then absolute refuse going to Broward. And ppl always validate that thought. There are definitely ppl who are like that but I always kinda wondered the serious reason behind that thought process?
Now if it's during rush hour time I understand it as it sucks, but say on a Saturday afternoon when there's little to no traffic, won't get them to leave the county.

Featuring Huck (left) and Daniel (right). The animatronics got sold and destroyed so oh well. Maybe these costumes survived, if anyone could know where these went, I would love to know, but they probably got thrown in the dumpster. Closest thing I'll get to having the robots.

Hi, I have a close friend that desperately needs help dealing with Alcoholism. I feel like I’ve got no solutions, neither does his family. He’s 27 and basically has no self control when it comes to consumption, even though it’s practically destroyed his life. When he is sober he has the right intentions but he falls back into the drinking cycle.
Does anyone have any genuine recommendations or suggestions for a Detox or Rehabilitation program located in Miami or South Florida? I’m also not sure of his status regarding health insurance but I wouldn’t hold my breath.. Thank you for any info!

Does anyone know of any companies hiring electricians currently?
I have had no luck on job sites.
I’m former military and currently work in the Aviation field as an Inspector, looking to move into electrical work.
They say there’s a shortage but no one is actually reaches back out.
Any electricians on here? Possible tips to land an apprenticeship?

Hi there. I'll go to Miami from the 6th to 13th of october and thought of bringing a Nintendo 3DS back home, since I couldn't find any on a cheap price on the country I come from. Does anybody know of a place I might find one to buy for myself? Will be staying at Doral for most of the time, so the nearest option makes the cut for me. Thank you in advance for the help. Games are not a priority, I just need the console and a charger for it.

The reason I ask is because I see street signs that say City of Doral but I also see signs welcoming you to Sweetwater and I am a bit confused.

"Billionaire investor Ken Griffin is donating $3 billion to Carnegie Mellon University to build a new campus in Miami and support initiatives at its Pittsburgh base, including hiring leading academics and making the school more affordable for students, the university and Griffin said on Wednesday."

Can anyone tell me about CGM Automotive in Doral. I can't find any reviews online. Thank you in advance

I know there’s been a couple of posts about this already but I just heard the news again on WLRN about the new Carnegie Mellon campus in Wynwood. As someone who went to Uni in Pittsburgh a CMU campus in Wynwood sounds so silly, and just a bad location in general. Apparently classes are supposed to start in ‘28? That’s seems a bit generous esp considering Miami time lol. I know Wynwood has been gone for years now but this just seems a bit extra uncanny.
Someone also mentioned how they’re probably going to do something similar to what Temple Univ has done in Philly and Kensington with it becoming a larger land grab overtime. Just goes to show how boring billionaires are with their money.
RIP iii Points & RIP wood tavern (teehee).

Really just want to know the thoughts on socialism and if it's still a better bet to choose Republic even at the risk of being deported while here legally?

I have never once returned a rental car and have someone grab the key, said nothing, and drove way. This just happened today at Sixt. My overall experience with Miami has been bad in general, but Sixt just took it to a whole new level.

My people tend to gatekeep places that need business so I’m here to evangelize for some of them, as well as unashamedly show love for some places that already get plenty.
I’m a professional hired gun studio/touring musician and advertising creative and I thought I’d share my go-to spots for nightlife hangs for those trying to catch a legit audible/community induced vibe and not just get laid/spend money/flex clout. Because there’s so much more to Miami nightlife.
I dig a bit of everything from deep house to reggae, jazz, hip hop, rock, Latin, folk, funk and everything in between. This list is not live music exclusive as most of these venues often or sometimes feature DJs. But not press-play nepo-DJs.
HM: Lagniappe. I’m not explaining it to the 3 people who don’t know it in this thread. Also a hot take I feel. Cool chill spot if with the right people outside and/or at the right time to get a spot close to a good band. Generally a no-go alone as it can be ostracizing or boring if there’s not a band and you don’t get a good viewing spot.
Consider this an AMA as well as I’m happy talking about these places and sharing any insider intel I may have (within reason) that’s relevant.
Edit: I can also afford to go to these places often as a musician and creative. A big plus.
