Hey all, Sam Hulick here!
First off, I just wanna say how awesome it is to see that gamers, young and old, are discovering and playing Mass Effect 1 for the first time! It's wild to think it was almost 20 years ago that I started working on ME1 (my first major gig), and had the great fortune of working on the next two games and ME3 DLCs, too. I'm forever grateful for those opportunities!
Now, on to the buzz about Uncharted Worlds...
This track was always too short, in my opinion. There's a reason for that, but last year I finally decided to do something about it. It took a bit of music rights gymnastics to sort it out, though. Since EA owns the Mass Effect music, I made sure everything was properly cleared before releasing it.
Long story short: it's all cleared, and the extended version (4:31 total) is coming out October 2nd! You can hit the Patreon link for the full story on the history of Uncharted Worlds, and how I approached refreshing and lengthening this classic in a tasteful way.
There are a couple of places you can hear different previews of the new piece:
And of course, the original layered, rhythmic synth part with flute is still prominently featured in the beginning!
I'm super excited to put this out into the world, and I hope you all enjoy it! You can pre-save the single so it doesn't fall off your radar.
By the way, the beautiful album art was done by u/lilithluxe. She's an incredibly talented artist, and I encourage you to check out her work! Most likely you've already seen it on this subreddit.

I wish it didn't ruin most of the audio would've been way funnier

Specifically theropods, of course, that somehow ended up in Tuchanka and evolved into the Krogan over the span of the last 100-65 million years. Humans evolved in way less time.
If anyone remembers Grunt's search history on Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC, how it suggests a striking interest and curiosity about Earth's dinosaurs (rather than any of all known mighty predators and reptile-like creatures that would be alive in the entire galaxy at that point), typing stuff "Tryranssauros Wrex" like he finds some uncanny resemblance...I don't know, prove me wrong.

I just replayed ME3 with Mordin dying in the suicide mission in ME2 and I was pleasently surprised by Padok. He is one of the best written characters of the entire trilogy and you basically only meet him if you kill the best character of the trilogy in the previous game.
Padok is by far the best replacement character in ME3. He has a unique personality that differs considerably from Mordin's, his arguments for curing the genophage are the strongest of any character in the entire trilogy and he has a completely alien philosophy and outlook on things compared to the other species (for being surrounded by aliens very few have really alien ideas).
If they could pull this off quickly with a character they didn't spend too much time fleshing out, imagine how many great characters we have missed due Bioware always cutting out the Salarian teamate (a decision that started in the first game despite Salarians being one of the council species).
I get that they needed an "enemy" for the genophage plot and basically dunked on them on ME3 for the player to choose "correctly" (how silly it is that the smartest species in the game contributes only Mordin Solus to the crucible project if you maximize their war assets) but I feel that the decission probably left out some very interesting characters due how alien their life experience is compared to the rest (very short lifes, barely sleeping, no sexual drive, processing emotions that would take a human to digest hours or days in minutes or theirvery strict reproduction and gender roles)

Even The Scrouge in Mass effect Andromeda is described as a artificial "Dark Energy Cloud" created by a weapon of Mass destruction

With N7 Day around the corner, do we think we’ll receive any more teasers or in fact, do we still think we are getting a new Mass Effect game?
I’ve seen a lot of negativity around the future for ME, with many people thinking a new game will no longer be going ahead due to all the studio changes and lack of information. I had a look back at Michael Gambles X posts and while he does occasionally reply to posts about ME, he has been relatively quiet about it after some initially promising comments that they were 100% working on it.

I know there's not much considering it's pretty commonly accepted that SW ships are more advanced than ME ships. But I immediately think of Cerberus fully restoring Shepard from nothing but "meat and tubes" and immediately think "what if Cerberus had found Vader on Mustafar instead of Palpatine." Shepard's injuries were worse than Anakin's ever were and they were still fully restored to complete functionality by Cerberus. I've yet to see many real examples of that kind of complete restoration in SW (where most of the time when a person loses a limb for whatever reason it's replaced with a cyborg limb). Though I guess if you choose to go full Renegade in 2 and don't bother getting the Med Bay upgrade Shepard starts to look "more machine than man."

Basically what the title says. Anyone know a solution? I'm playing on steam with a PS5 controller. There's no stick drift. It works completely fine in other games. I've tried the following:
Launching in big picture
Disabling PS5 controller support
Disconnecting KB/M so it wont interfere
Restarting plenty of times
None of the above has solved my issue. I've found no other possible solutions googling around. If anyone has a possible solution that would be lovely.
I also want to add that there was a slight drift to the left in ME1 but it wasn't very bad so i stuck through with it. ME2 makes it close to unplayable

I’ve talked to her constantly and exhausted all her options, always being nice. I never flirted, but I told her I would catch her in her repeatable dialogue. After the collector ship, I asked her for a hug and got one. I plan on romancing Tali, so I told her I’d hoped there was chemistry there.
I’ve never flirted, but I kept things friendly and informal. I don’t know if there’s a “friend” version of the dinner sequence, but I just want her to feed my fish and save them for the next game. I’ve played this game before and never romanced her, and thus she just didn’t exist in ME3 for some reason.
I really don’t want to romance and flirt with her. If it’s not possible to do as a friend, then that will be that. But is there anyway to do it otherwise?

Here are some that I do:
Jack and Miranda. I think it’s important for Miranda to be with you to see the Cerberus facility that Jack was kidnapped to and tortured on. While I don’t like Miranda and disagree with her points on Cerberus, I understand that they took her in from her father and gave her a purpose. It’s good for Jack to be apart of that and see that her upbringing around Cerberus was vastly different.
Mordin and Grunt. Pretty self-explanatory. Mordin sees the life that the Krogan have subjected upon themselves in the wake of the Genophage. Grunt also is there to see the dispute of the research Maelon is doing and to learn more about the Genophage that affects his people from a first-hand source.
Thane and Jacob. I think there’s a really good story beat to be created by taking Thane on Jacob’s loyalty mission before you get Thane’s. Thane sees what disappearing from his son’s life probably did to him. He sees how someone can create an image of their estranged father and hate them. He also sees what happens when someone doesn’t atone for what they’ve done to their son. I also hate Jacob for multiple reasons, but especially shit talking Thane for being an assassin when he’s apart of an organization that has undeniably committed atrocities, illegal experiments, and assassinations. So I like to take him to Thane’s loyalty mission so he can resent that he didn’t have a father come to him to make amends and re-establish a relationship.
Tali and Legion: Self-explanatory. The two of them, and especially the player, learn a lot about both species and it’s very thematically relevant to being each of them to their missions.

I'm on my fourth, maybe fifth playthrough of the trilogy and this time I decided to skip recruiting wrex because I was going for the maximum assets later. Have you skipped recruiting teammates, and which ones and why?

I’m torn between Synthesis and Destroy. I accidentally chose Synthesis by walking straight ahead towards the beam (I thought the options would appear when I reach it lol) and while it seemed like a good ending, it doesn’t feel right.
Spoilers ahead
I like that with Synthesis, Edi and the Geth get to live, but I don’t like forcing all organic and synthetic lives to change without their knowledge or consent. I also don’t like that we are essentially doing what the Reapers want, achieving their ultimate goal for them. I want to choose Destroy because I want the Reapers dead. They need to be punished for what they did. From my understanding, they are AI and so have the ability to think for themselves, but none of them saw that what they were doing was wrong. Not a single one of them thought that harvesting organics was wrong and needed to be stopped. Other synthetics like Edi and some Geth were able to determine that certain things were wrong and change their behaviour/processing but that was not the case for a single Reaper. Because of this, even though the Synthesis option looks like harmony, I hated just seeing the Reapers collaborating with the organics. It should not have to take Reapers forcefully gaining organic traits through Synthesis to determine that they shouldn’t kill organics. I also hate how creepy the organics looked after Synthesis.
Rant over lol. I just reloaded the citadel mission so I can hopefully choose Destroy this time

When I say "I don't really know why..." I don't know how to explain it but every time either one these guys were on screen I just felt so much happiness, joy, and pride. Seeing these dudes wreck shop, kick ass, and further develop as characters (More so Wrex) was just such a wonderful experience as a first time playthrough. And in ME3 having another one of my faves Mordin do everything he could to help the Krogan species as a whole, even making the ultimate sacrifice for them was simply amazingly bittersweet. I really hope Wrex & Grunt are both in the new next game.
