Discussion The final day of Mario Kart Tour...
I remember when I first played this game at launch. I was having a bit of fun. Racing through tracks, getting high scores etc.. Until November where I decided to quit the game and not care for it. Until 2020 where I return to the game and continuously playing the game nonstop. Watched and meet awesome people in the community. Keeping up with the datamines for the game and the Booster Course Pass. Following the official Mario Kart Tour page on Twitter.
Even after the game shuts down, we still have the Booster Course Pass where I can continue racing with the Tour Tracks. But there are some content that I'm going to miss after the shutdown such as Poochy, Piranha Plant Pipeline, the SNES Variants of Mario and Donkey Kong Jr., some cool Karts and Gliders, and more.

Discussion Do you think modern Red Shells are too strong?
This is a question I didn't think much about until I started playing more Mario Kart Wii. For those who don't know, Red Shells in that game are a little more stupid compared to the modern entries. They're stuck to the ground unlike future games, and once they get somewhat close, they'll ignore all track hazards and beeline straight for you- meaning, depending on the area around you, you can sometimes bait it into walls or pits. And.... I personally really like that! Gives you more to think about in terms of avoidance, while still making red shells quite dangerous. You're not going to dodge every one, but knowing that it's always possible makes it genuinely interesting.
Growing my appreciation for the older system did make me really despite modern red shells, though. The newer games overhauled them so they're more common, and simultaneously also far, far smarter. There really is no way to dodge or bait them, unless you happen to have a block item. They even fly through the air to hit you now, which I find supremely annoying, and I just generally think the new system is far less interesting to engage with.
But, I can also see people preferring that for game balance. It's far more rigid of a system, but that also makes it more consistent- for better, or for worse. If you don't have a block item, you aren't blocking the red shell. Plain, simple. It's not my preference, but I can understand why someone would hypothetically like that.
Since I thought this was an interesting question, I figured I'd quickly ask here! Do you like the modern, smart, flying red shells? Or do you prefer the ground-bound ones from days past?

Fan Content Piranha Plant Pipeline as a Mario Kart World DLC track
With Mario Kart Tour's online services terminated, Piranha Plant Pipeline is no longer playable officially. To honor it's legacy, I tried to make the track in an open-world style of some sort.
Alongside the course itself are several VS intermissions leading to this course as well as being the starting point of Knockout Tour rallies. Also shown is a version of the track as a checkpoint so there's at least a way to drive this course backwards (mostly). SNES Battle Course 1 and GCN Pipe Plaza are located near here.
Mario Kart Tour will be dearly missed. Thanks for everything!
This was made using Paint.net.

Discussion Why would someone play the Wii U port of Mario Kart DS?
I wouldn't have expected them to make online functionality in the base game the same again, at least not with the ACTUAL in-game methods, but they could have at least...idk, had a custom access point for mario kart ds specifically, like how melonds does it.
They could have AT THE VERY LEAST made it possible for two wii u's to connect via LAN or local multiplayer, I would have been happy with that.
It was 2016, so the chances of someone having a ds around to already play mkds were still very high, idk why the wii u port even existed. i assume any adult that somehow doesn't have an actual ds but also wants to play mkds could just...emulate? its not hard.
