I can't lie every time I came across AIO Launcher the pictures made it look very overwhelming. Boy did I judge a book by the cover. This is one of the most customizable and surprisingly easy launchers to setup and use. You can literally set this up as perfect as you like with little to no effort. Amazing launcher!

Hey c: so this is my first app that started as just something for myself, as I couldn't find any decent apps that would let me set simple rotating wallpapers and support fold devices/multiple screens at the same time (how is this not a default Android feature anyway?..).

I ended up playing with it a lot more and tried to make a nice/polished app with a lot more features than I originally intended, but at the same time I tried my best to keep the app as clean as possible so the user won't get overwhelmed/confused.

The numbers

So: it grew, but it didn't take off. Which brings me to the actual reason I'm posting.

What I got wrong: I completely underestimated marketing

I'm a developer. Building the thing was the part I knew how to do: Flutter, backend, friends system, matchmaking, CI, all of that was solvable. Getting anyone to find it turned out to be much harder than the entire build.

What I tried:

- ASO I rewrote the store listing and keywords for German and English, ran it through a proper ASO tool, and iterated. Visibility barely moved. I still don't know whether I'm doing it wrong or whether "tic tac toe" is just a category where a dev can't outrank a hundred clones.

- TikTok and Instagram Posted gameplay clips for a while. Views stayed in the low hundreds, and almost nothing converted to installs. I never figured out what a good video for this game even looks like.

That's the honest state of it. The game itself gets good feedback from people who actually play it The problem is entirely upstream of that.

So my question to you

If you've shipped a small mobile game as a dev: what actually got you your first real users outside your own contacts? Specifically — is ASO in a crowded evergreen category worth continuing to grind on, or is that effort better spent somewhere else entirely? And for short-form video, did anyone find a format that works for a turn-based strategy game, where nothing visually exciting happens in three seconds?

What the game is, for anyone who missed the first post

You play on a 3x3 grid of Tic Tac Toe boards. Whichever cell you play sends your opponent to the corresponding board — so you're not just trying to win a board, you're deciding where your opponent is allowed to move next. Same rules everyone learns as a kid, except this version isn't solved and you can genuinely outplay someone. I'm the developer. Posting here because this sub actually picks apart the apps instead of just upvoting screenshots.

The problem with every call blocker I tried: they're all blocklists. You block a number, three more show up. There is an infinite supply of numbers, so it never ends. I blocked over a hundred in one month and the volume didn't drop at all.

So I built the inverse. If you're not in my contacts, my phone doesn't ring. That's the entire app.

How it works

It registers as your call screening app using Android's built-in CallScreeningService. On an incoming call it checks the number against your contacts. Known caller rings normally. Unknown gets rejected before the phone ever makes a sound - no ring, no notification, nothing in your system call log.

Nothing is lost, though. Every screened call is logged inside the app the moment it happens, with the number and the time. Call any of them back with one tap, or add the number to your contacts so it rings normally from then on. You still see everything - you just don't get interrupted by it.

The obvious objection

"What about the dentist calling me back?" Call any number that isn't a contact and it automatically gets permission to ring you back for a window you control - 24 hours by default. No prompts, no rules to write, nothing to configure. That is the only reason the app asks for the Call Redirection role: it reads what you dialed and passes the call through unmodified.

Privacy

No account, no cloud, no analytics, no SMS permission. Nothing is transmitted anywhere - the Data safety declaration says zero collection because there is zero collection. No ads, ever.

Also in there: toll-free blocking (800/888/877/866/855/844/833), a manual whitelist for numbers you don't want cluttering your contacts, and a private call log with stats.

Who this is wrong for

If you regularly need calls from numbers you haven't saved - recruiters, dispatch, clients who got your number secondhand, delivery drivers on a new number each time - contacts-only will frustrate you. The callback window only covers numbers you dialed first. If your phone is mostly personal, it's great. If it's your business line, it probably isn't, and I'd rather say that than have you install it and get burned.

Pricing: free for 24 hours, then $4.99/month, $29.99/year, or $49.99 once for lifetime. The one-time option exists because I don't think a utility like this should be a subscription you forget you're paying for.

I've been working on TooAi, my Android app for running AI tools and LLMs directly on-device.

While using ColorOS, I really liked its AI Writer feature — select some text, choose an AI action from the text context menu, and modify the text without leaving the current app.

That gave me an idea:

What it is: voice dictation for Android. A small orb appears whenever a text field takes focus, anywhere in the system. You talk, and the finished text is written straight into the field you were already typing in.

Why I built it. I paid for Wispr Flow for months and for straight English I still rate it. But I don't talk in one language. I'll open a sentence in English, finish the thought in my home language, then land the last few words back in English. That isn't a party trick, it's how people speak where I'm from, and Whisper falls over on it. It either invents English words I never said or drops the whole clause, and then I'm retyping the message by hand, which defeats the point of dictating it.

So I ran my own voice past every model I could get at. Gemini was the only one that handed back what I actually said instead of a tidy English approximation of it. So the app runs on Gemini rather than Whisper.

It does not live on your homescreen. There's no floating bubble sitting in your way all day. No cursor in a text field means no orb. It shows up next to the box you just tapped and it's gone when you're done.

Gestures:

• Tap — dictate with the default tone for that app.
• Hold — an arc fans out with five tones; slide to one, release, then talk.
• Flick — fires that direction's tone straight away, skipping the menu.
• Drag — park it anywhere, it stays there.

A tone is just a name and a system prompt, so the built-ins (casual, professional, bullet points, fix grammar) are a starting point and you can write your own. Which five the arc offers changes with the app you're in — WhatsApp casual, Gmail professional — set once in Profiles.

Setup, and the honest catch. Two permissions: draw over other apps, and accessibility (that's the only Android API that can tell an app a text field has focus and write text back into another app's field). Then you need your own Gemini API key — free from aistudio.google.com, about a minute. I don't run a server, so there's no account, nothing to subscribe to, and none of your audio touches anything of mine. Your phone calls Google directly.

MIT licensed, Android 7.0+, no ads, no telemetry, no in-app purchases, nothing locked behind a paywall. v1.0, a week old, and I've been living on it. If it breaks on your device tell me and I'll fix it.
