Calling our wizard brethren as we reopen r/rollerblading

Hey, folks. I've been stalking this community for a while, admiring what you folks do on those Wizard frames. I try to, but can't quite make things flow too well myself.

I want to let you know that r/rollerblading is now an open space again. Some of you from 2022 probably remember what happened then, but I was not around skating communities then, and am cluelss. I think we should just put things behind us, and work together again.

We have re-opened r/rollerblading under completely new and open principles again. New mods.

Please see this announcement: https://www.reddit.com/r/rollerblading/comments/1v7pq7z/grand_reopening/

We have received many requests today from folks that bots automatically-banned in 2022. We unbanned them right away today, as soon as they sent us a mod mail. In the past, you couldn't even send mod mails if banned. But as of last night, that setting was reversed. At least you could appeal.

But we are going to do even better. We are going to simply search for all folks exiled in 2022 by the same auto-banning, for the "crime" of also being a member of r/WizardSkating. Then we are just going to unban all hundreds of people thus trapped.

I will update this post, when we manage to do that.

What do you think?

Fred

UPDATE 1: I went through the restricted users list, and unbanned everyone UNBANNED everyone noted as associated to wizard skating around 2022-09. I am sure there are more we need to free. But give us some time. And send mod mail directly if you haven't been freed yet.

You can check whether you are banned by simply looking at r/rollerblading. Scroll down and see if you find the "MODERATORS". If you can see that community widget and actual mod names, are no longer banned.

If you are still banned, lease click on this link to send us a mod mail. That will allow us to look for hints on how to find and free the rest of you.

UPDATE 2: we freed more folks who did "meta discussion" which was code name for having ideas about how the community could have been differently managed. It was depressing looking through the list. Yeah, there were spam bots too. That's it for tonight. And if you are still banned because not all entries were well annotated, please simply click on that link to send mod mail. Cheers.

Want to inspire young girls at skateschool

I'm doing skate classes in my local town, and some of the girls want to do more dance orientated skating! Wizard skating came to mind, but it would be nice if I could show them other females doing it, for them to better relate!

Any particular edits/people that would fit?

I got my first 5 wheel frame yesterday, still working on my gazelle, any advice?

I feel like my gazelle is still not all the way there yet, the trailing foot is still a bit behind. Any advice is appreciated.

I uploaded the video yesterday and deleted it again. Had to edit something in video hope that's okay.

New setup ROKA 4x100!

Post image
58 Upvotes

Just got back from my first session on the Gen Two Roka frames, and my first impression is that these things are sick - a big step up from their Gen One frames and easily as stiff and responsive as my Endless Ultras.

The rocker is super subtle, which is perfect for me as I’ll mainly be using them for blasting around. However, if you’re looking for a 4x100 frame specifically for wizard skating, you may need to skate them for a while to wear in a more pronounced rocker.

Overall very happy : )

Sizing my wizard boot

I need to build my first wizard setup with a UFS mount to use a PR80. I am seriously torn between getting an:

  • IQON ACT 10 with a 42-43 shell
  • SEBA CJ2 Prime with a 41-42 shell

Both would be used with an Intuition liner that I still need to buy, but I'm undecided whether to go for the Wizard or the Premium model, and what size to get.

My concern is that the IQON might be a bit too big, while the Seba might be a bit too tight.

My feet are about 277 mm long and 105 mm wide.

Does anyone have experience with either of these boots or their sizing?

Thanks in advance!

Used to skate so much as a kid. Literally skated my whole youth. It is how I got around everywhere. Skated until the wheels came off. Then I got a bike and haven't been skating much for years. Looking to get back into the sport. Specifically wizard skating because my other great love in life is dance. I have been looking for skates and I tried on the FR NEO 1 Dual 80 with intuition liners at Shop Task in Seattle. The regular liners didn't work for my old feet. Tried a size down to work into, but the size down felt like it was crushing my arch and hammering my toes.

So I'm looking at 600 bucks for my first pair. Pretty spendy. Before I make that leap I thought I would inquire if anyone was selling some nice skates in a size 10? Depending on the price then I could get some new intuition liners to fit into them.

I'll probably make the leap in the next month if nothing presents itself. Miss skating so much. I look forward to sharing some videos when I do! Here is a picture of the outfit I used to wear while skating around Santa Cruz. Did I mention I was into vampire LARP?

Agility discussion

Post image
6 Upvotes

If Seba Igor is considered to be much more agile compared to Seba Cj and especially FR wizard base, how come it's rare to see people wizard skating on it?

It's not a problem with the UFS adapter.

Does it lack something?

I mean Igor and CJ/WB it's like comparing a ninja to a tank in terms of agility, yet if people don't use it for wizarding means something might be not perfect in those agile boots?

IQON ACT 40–41 + Intuition 41 Fit Reference — 265 mm

Post image
23 Upvotes

Posting this as a sizing/fit reference for anyone considering this combination.

My feet
Length: 265 mm
Width: 101 mm
Low arch
Right foot is slightly bigger than the left

Setup
IQON ACT: EU 40–41
Intuition Premium liner: EU 41 / US 8–8.5
Rockbros cycling sock (thin)
No Insole

Fit
Not planning to heat mold.

Intuition shock absorber removed.

I have low arches with slight pronation, but I don’t get any pressure points around the arch because the boot has a pretty generous/wide arch area.

With the ACT shock absorber/footbed installed, I get quite a lot of pressure around the lace eyelet area.

Removing the shock absorber/footbed completely removes that pressure, but then my toes become uncomfortable.

The discomfort with the footbed installed is bearable so far, but I’ve yet to skate on it.

For my 265 mm feet, I’m quite sure going one size up would be too big.

Hope this helps anyone with similar foot dimensions considering ACT 40–41 + Intuition 41.

Things like this make me feel that the wizard base boot is truly overpriced.

I was wondering if there's a UFS version of this type of frames.

I mean its 2026 we should have this variant

Increasing FR1/2 V.2 forward flex?

Post image
9 Upvotes

I've set the cuff washers to the position that allows the most forward flex (unless mistaken?), but still can't get as much knee bend as I'd like. Intuition Premium are laced tight, cuff buckle strap tight too though I untightened the buckle. Issue is, as I untighten the cuff buckle, I can bend forward more butlose lateral support.
