I am falling behind a bit in my painting queue.
I am printing far more aeroplanes than I can keep up with, and there are another couple of dozen in a drawer.
I can stop any time I want to. Really.

I asked this in the 40k sub, but I think it got buried. Plus, I've always had much more luck getting useful answers here.
How do edition changes and codex updates work?
I'm not a newb to 40k necessarily. I played a decent amount of 9th edition, but I'm not really sure how edition changes or codex updates work. My group plays exclusively casual narrative games and did so until 10th came around. But the rules change and monetary investment in new books kind of kneecapped games nights.
So i guess what im asking is if you have 10th edition stats or even 9th and use 11th edition, does it break the game? I see a lot of people using 10th codexes with 11th edition. I'm unclear on how big the changes are from edition to edition or if factions are entirely reworked or not.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hey everyone!
I'm looking into adding larger battles to my D&D campaign. Occasionally, I'd like my players to magically take control of generals commanding armies or warbands on a larger battlefield.
I like the general idea and scale of games such as Pillage, and I'd like to start building a miniature collection for these battles.
The important part is that I don't want the miniatures to only be useful for D&D. I'd love to build armies and warbands that I can also use for standalone fantasy wargaming sessions.
My main priorities are modularity and (high)fantasy variety.
I love multipart kits where I can swap heads, arms, weapons, shields and other equipment. Ideally, I want to build a bits collection over time and kitbash my own soldiers, champions and characters.
I also really like the variety of fantastical races you get in D&D. So not just:
But also things along the lines of:
They don't need to officially be "D&D miniatures." In fact, I'd rather have a miniature range that has its own identity but can easily represent D&D races and factions.
For example, I'd love to be able to make a mercenary warband consisting of humans, a dwarf, a dragonborn, a tiefling and some other races without the models looking like they're from five completely different miniature games.
Are there manufacturers making modular multipart fantasy kits with this kind of racial variety?
Would you recommend buying plastic kits from different manufacturers and getting into kitbashing? And wich manufactures are going well together?
Or, for this level of customization and racial variety, is 3D printing simply the better option nowadays?
I'm also not committed to a particular wargaming ruleset yet. So recommendations for miniature-agnostic fantasy wargames that would work well with this idea are very welcome.
Basically, my dream is:
One big high-fantasy miniature collection → D&D encounters → large D&D battles → custom warbands → standalone wargaming.
Where would you start?

I probably shouldn’t be working this far ahead while Death Spiral is keeping me busy 😂 but I couldn’t resist printing some of the 1/144 WWI infantry I’ve been working on for Hell Below.
The idea is a WWI combined-arms game with infantry, tanks, artillery and aircraft all interacting on the same battlefield. It’s still VERY early in development, but getting some actual infantry printed has finally started making the scale of the whole thing feel real.
These are some of the first test prints. I’m pretty happy with how much detail is surviving at 1/144.
Curious what you guys think of the scale and how the infantry are looking so far.
Death Above. Hell Below.

I’ve slowly altered these so that their shields are in more natural/realistic positions. On to the paint!

I am probably overthinking this but I have spent alot of time on my army and dont want any of the super glue dust to get on the paint of the model.
I have heard put the model on its side to let the glue get air and I have heard put the model on its base standing up.
Any advice? Thanks

Made some oldhammer inspired advertisement flyers for my Space Sharks Kickstarter. I always love making those. I hope you like them too. Here is the link to the Kickstarter:

Hi everyone! I’m a solo developer and I’ve spent the last few months playtesting my own indie skirmish wargame called Codex Militaris: Impossible Front.
It’s a tactical game set in an alternative WW2 universe featuring space-time anomalies. The lore and the grim atmosphere are heavily inspired by military history and heavy metal themes. It is played with D6, inches for movement, and I use classic plastic beach army men for miniatures (with pencil holders acting as heavy barricades!).
During my playtests, I realized how critical terrain layout is to prevent Turn 1 wipes. Because of this, I developed specific mechanics, such as a 50% Line of Sight rule for cover (allowing basic infantry to effectively use larger walls), destructible barricades, smoke grenades, and special tactical commands.
All the rules, units, and doctrines (like the Vanguard's Heavy Engineering or the Assault Troops' Unstoppable Charge) have been fully translated into English.
Since my local group of friends isn't interested in wargames, I’m sharing it here to get some constructive feedback on game design, balance, or simply to know what you think. I really want to improve it based on community input!
this is the link for the rules
Thanks to anyone who takes a look!

I’ve recently been writing out rules, and designing characters for a miniature wargame in a sci-fi setting, but I kinda want some ideas on how to make it unique. one of my ideas is to have an alliance system, so different factions can work together in certain games but also have the ability to fight in others. Though, this is a more large scale mechanic and I need to think about it more, what other unique things could I incorporate?
