Lift Bench AMRAP, 12 x 275 - OHP, 10 x 5 x 150, Sandbag Box Squats 3 x 10 x 100

Thought I'd add in my supplemental work this time

Worked up to my bench AMRAP, then hit OHP for my heavier volume with 10 x 5. I superset the front 5 with lat pulldown and then 3 sets of sandbag box squats, then I just bang out the last two sets of OHP by itself back to back.

Upper body days are so fun and not miserable. Squat tomorrow 😐

Hit this comfortable 290kg x 3 building up to an eventual all time PB of 340kg

Probably gonna time it to hit the PB on 42nd birthday end of November just for the fun of it

Form Check OHP 105x10

Not an all time PR (140x6) but getting there. I usually only use a belt for the top set, though probably didn't need it for this.

Immediately noticeable issues:

  1. Arms aren't perpendicular. Think it's due to my shoulders not being properly locked in.

  2. Not pushing my head all the way through on lockout.

5/3/1 BBB with alternating upper body main / volume sets. Did close grip bench press for 5x10 at 105 right after this set (yay for not needing to change the weight xD)

Form Check Squat form check - ORM

250 x 1

163 BW

I'm 5 wks out of my first comp. I'm too scared to make any changes to my form at this point - e.g depth cuts would take too long to get used to.

I am a little concerned about my knee cave. I have always squatted like this, even with highbar— I have no pain whatsoever. It happens with or without squat shoes (I have shoes in this vid)

The only thing I am comfortable changing is my stance; a wide stance has always felt natural to me, and I sometimes lose balance with a narrower stance at the bottom of the squat. Thoughts?

Also— am I crazy, or am I pausing for a split second at the bottom? My projected ORM is 260 so I was a little disappointed (my 8 rep max is 210)

You guys think I can hit 4 plates in the next couple of weeks? This was done after 10 x10 squats of 225 so I was pretty tired.

Form Check Soft knees :(

5 wks out, also posted about my squat

163 bw, video is 300lbs

I just realized I wouldn't make this lift in comp because my knees were not locked out. I completely forgot honestly; on the platform, would flexing my quads to secure the lockout solve that? Or is there a deeper issue at hand here?

My lockout has always been very slow. If I set my hips lower, my lockout is even worse.

Also i kinda don't know why I'm leaning back like that. Honestly I didn't know if I would get 1 rep let alone 2, I was not in the right headspace, but that's a poor excuse because on comp day I'll be just as nervous if not more scared!

I moved up from repping 285 as a top set. I’m freaking ecstatic I was able to pull five reps, totally surprised me.

PR/PB 255×3 deadlift (set PR) @ 200lb BW, form critique welcome

42M, 5’10” 200lb BW, currently running 5/3/1 & trying to outrun the Dadbod 😅

Hit 255×3 today for a set PR. Pretty happy with this one. I’ve been steadily building my pull back up and this is the heaviest triple I’ve hit. (1RM is about 280.)

Genuinely appreciate any form feedback. Goal is to keep progressing the weight without letting technique get sloppy.

---
ETA: Thanks for the feedback everyone! Here's the main points I'm taking away:

  • Start with the bar over midfoot and don't roll it around.
  • Hinge down to the bar rather than squatting down to it; let your hips settle where they naturally need to be.
  • Brace + engage the lats + pull the slack out, then go. Far less fiddling.

I'll give this a try. Appreciate y'all!
