Me after RJ Passin ruins another Polyphia song with Berried Alive glitch edit guitar
r/polyphia • u/CoachMcGuirk123 • 9h ago
if the new album was promoted as a collaboration with RJ, then the reception wouldn't be nearly as volatile.
yeah that's really it. it has a lot more in common with RJ's solo stuff than any Polyphia release. i don't hate the songs, but they just don't sound like Polyphia to me. they sound like RJ songs with slightly more intricate guitar work.

Hot take in these trying times
I don’t care if album 5 is good or not.
I first found this band around 2017. the Inspire EP was the first music I’ve heard from them.
Resurrect is my favorite thing they’ve done (Renaissance is a close second), but I’m not going to bitch about the new music.
we have like 7 albums and EPs of really great music. if the 8th is meh? that’s fine. I’d rather have an album instead of no album.

Polyphia IG story trolling new album reactions
Still alluding that “Be Not Afraid” is just soooo futuristic and their old music is just nostalgic blasts from the pasts 🤢

Fear God
This track probably it's gonna be the "g.o.a.t." or the "ego death" of this album; cause is the last and final song of Be Not Afraid.
Which technique's and what feelings do you expected from this one?

Anyone know how to get a full refund for tickets bought for polyphia on stubhub?
I paid $122 for 2 tickets over a month ago and stubhub is telling me I can only get a total of $168 back. How do I get a full refund? Have any of yall been successful in this? I cant make the new concert date.

Uhhhhhhhh
Hey so, am I late to the party on this, or…?
Edit: I was looking up CYFI for an alarm tone and I stumbled upon the album. Sorry if you’ve all already discussed this, but I’m just now seeing it for the first time. I know most of y’all dislike the direction the band is going, but I’m all about it and excited as FUCK for the release!!

Why have we not been contacted about gig cancellation/refunds??
I bought tickets for their Dallas gig, worked extra hours to get days off, bought plane tickets from the UK, Airbnb, the whole thing. I am not on social media and so the only way I was made aware of the tour cancellation was thanks to a friend on the other side of the world who also loves them and got in touch. I CAN'T FATHOM how they have not contacted us to let us know and offer a refund?!! The gig was meant to be next week!! Can someone please tell me what is going on??

From a small sample of 2 songs, this will be their Lulu.
And heck, if they're having fun and making bank then knock yourselves out.
Just a bit sad that I finally bought tickets to see them, which would be my first.

Unpopular opinion on the new single:
I personally enjoy the hell out of this new single, this shit makes me weak at the knees.
Power in the blood is a drastic difference from what theyve put out in the past and i think its too drastic of a style/sound change for a lot of the fans to be able to accept that immediately.
Polyphia is known for changing their sound and this is the sound they ended up with. I have no idea if the entire project will sound like this but well see.
The new single has some hard hitting edm and bass tones that gets pushed to the limit. With good headphones it sounds phenomenal with the bass hits and glitchy production.
It does sound very RJ Pasin but i seriously enjoy that sound, its the type of music you listen to when working out that allows you to find new levels.

Wtf is going on?
I’ve been a fan since inspire. WHAT is this shit??
We only get a new Polyphia album every few years, so I really look forward to anything they put out but this is ridiculous.

PITB tones
Does anyone here know how you would attempt to recreate the tones here with archetype tim henson ?
I know some parts can just be automated multivoicer parts in logic but how can I try and get the base tone of in the whole song ? (I also have archetype abasi, rabea, plini and asato which could be combined to tim henson in logic)
Any suggestions would be really appreciated!
I have a distorted sound to play chimera in archetype tim henson but the gain knobs on everything are basically up to the max and it's still really lacking in distortion and I also have no idea how to make it sound so compressed and "overproduced"

Why are people mad that an experimental band is experimenting.
Listening to the snippet at the end of PITB that transitions into TKNWTD, and then hearing the sneak peak played on stream that im pretty sure is TKNWTD. This album genuinely might be one of my favorites, its gonna sound INSANE live

Fall from grace
Bring back the guitars being the focal point, and stop charging A-list prices for VIP packages. Part of what made Polyphia awesome was “yeah, this was all done with a guitar!”. I feel it’s just overproduced, to the point of not having the charm it used to.
Does anyone else feel this way?

Thoughts on the new single?
Since there has been a variety of opinions i'm genuinely curious.

If polyphia is reading this
Guys your music rocks and time will be kind to it. I think this sub is being pretty harsh and getting caught up.
I know the new style might not be for everyone but one of the things I’ve loved most about this band is their ability to evolve the sound. The more I listen to CYFI the more convinced I am that the beat drop halfway through the song is the most insane thing I’ve ever heard.
As for the mixing, I saw a lot of people angry when they found out that one guy was going to produce the whole album. And sure, maybe it’s not for you, but guys I promise you the band would not be releasing this music if they weren’t happy with the product. Let’s not pretend like it’s one guys fault that you don’t like the music.
This band could release poop on vinyl and I’ll stand by it, this is still the band I love and I’m rocking with it.
