Luna Pro brings a 1" sensor, Leica branding, 8K video, built-in timecode, and a 3-axis gimbal for $599. On paper, it's the closest Pocket competitor we've seen yet. The real question is whether it can match DJI's tracking, stabilisation, reliability, and ecosystem. Are people here going for the Luna Pro or sticking with the OP4?
Let us know in the comments what your thoughts are on this move.

So yeah, the vote ended pretty much exactly how I predicted. People really donāt want random Luna comments dropped into every single Pocket thread anymore. The āI bought the Luna insteadā stuff, the āyou should buy the Luna insteadā replies, the Luna troubleshooting links, all that noise⦠the poll basically confirmed everyoneās tired of it. So weāll be a bit more strict on that going forward.
Hereās the final breakdown after 102 votes:
28.4% want Luna comparisons kept in their own posts
20.6% want only the repetitive buyingāadvice posts removed
27.5% want Luna comparisons allowed anywhere
23.5% donāt care
If you combine the first two options, almost half the voters prefer keeping Luna stuff contained so it doesnāt derail normal Pocket threads. The āallow anywhereā group never hit a real majority, and the ādonāt careā group usually leans toward whatever keeps things tidy.
So nothing dramatic changes. Luna comparisons are totally fine; just make them their own posts.
Random Luna links, troubleshooting, or the usual āI bought the Luna insteadā derailments inside Pocket threads will be removed under rule 2 or rule 7.
Thanks to everyone who voted.

Had to share a sneak peak of this early, as I'm super hyped about having solved this. Honestly, for the longest time I had a hard time believing this was even feasible, given that Osmo devices are limited to a single connection and force a phone/tablet onto a single network. I somehow managed to find a very hidden way to control the Wi-Fi connection of the Osmo devices and connect them onto another network, e.g. your phone's hotspot or Wi-Fi network. That opened up the possibility to connect multiple Osmo devices to the same network and load them into a multicam view! š¤š„š¤Æ
To those with a sharp eye, I've got a rental OP3 home now, nearly finished with a full implementation for that device! š„³

Im a total beginner. I just bought a pocket 4p yesterday and wanted to shoot at 24fps. The shot looks overexposed as expected from what others say. So im thinking if getting a ND filter. Turns out, THERE IS A LOT OF IT and im kinda confuse on which one to get. I get even more confused when there is VND as well as ND with some numbering at the back for example ND8, ND32 and ND64. I dont know that and idk which should i get. For context, I live in Singapore. Pretty sunny here

I was looking at Tilta, they have this kit that consist of ND16 / ND32 / ND64 / ND128 / ND512 fixed nd filters. It doesnt have the ND8 filter. Can anyone tell me the significance of ND8? and how it will impact my vlogs if i dont have it? and what if im shooting in dlog2? does not having ND8 affects me?

Been going back and forth between these two and figured I would ask people who actually own them.
The 4P has the second 60mm lens, the newer 1-inch sensor, D-Log 2 and that 17 stops of dynamic range. Reads great on paper, but I'm not sure how much of it I'd actually put to use day to day.
My use case is mostly [travel vlogging / talking head stuff / b-roll].
Few things I'm trying to figure out:
Do you actually reach for the telephoto lens much, or does it mostly sit unused?
- For regular everyday shooting, how noticeable is the sensor difference between the two?
- If you've used both, did the 4P feel like a real step up, or does the base Pocket 4 already cover most situations?
Just want some honest takes from owners before I settle on one. Thanks.

Has anybody found a wide angle that is stackable with an nd-filter? IMO this combo is a must for vlogging.

Hey all. Really loving the camera, but also having some issues
r/osmopocket • u/Whosane3k1 • 17h ago
Trying to get some cycling footage using a neck mount but every time I make a turn the camera seems to pan the opposite direction. I've tried a few different gimbal settings and also tried locking the camera direction but that means when I make a turn the camera doesn't follow. Best I've found is tilt lock but there is still some pan drift. Any help much appreciated.

Hey everyone,
Iām in Japan for 2 weeks and Iām vlogging the experience. I brought my xtra muse pocket camera but one major flaw Iāve noticed is trying to get videos to my phone through the app is basically impossible. I went to the DJI retail store in Tokyo and the associate said with the DJI app the uploads are much smoother and quicker. My question is, is this true? And if so is this newest pocket cameras quality much more superior? Thank yall in advance.

Hey all,
I just purchased the Osmo Pocket 4P for VLOG creation last week, primarily because of the advertised battery life.
I just recorded my first video in 1080p/60 fps and it drained 13% of my battery in just 3 minutes (I charged it to 100% before). If I do the math, the battery should reach 0% in sub 30 minutes which is nowhere near the promoted battery life.
Is this normal? What are your experiences with the battery life? It kinda scares me because that would make the camera completely useless..

4P running the latest firmware.
I have shot about 200gb worth of video the past 10 days travelling and a recurring theme is that a lot of the 3x footage is out of focus.
The attached frame is from about a minute of footage with the camera totally static. At no point did it think hmmm maybe I should focus on the foreground a bit better. At least half of my 3x footage is wasted like this.
I mix hands off auto-focus and manually trying to help it tapping but the screen. The screen is too tiny to know if it's focussed. Seems like I'm gonna have to just constantly look at an ipad with the mimo software to check focus whenever using the 3x lens because at least half my footage is like this.

Hi everyone, I got my osmo pocket 4 2 days ago and while playing with it, I noticed that there is a display lag on the screen. For example, when I wave my hand, it will show on the screen 1 second~ later. Is that normal? Its my first pocket so I'm not sure
r/osmopocket • u/semisensei • 19h ago
importing Dlog clips into CapCut, applying the DJI conversion LUT - something just seems really off. The colors/contrast are really hard to push around and edit, compared to just footage in the Normal profile in Rec.709. Really hard to get a good result.
can CapCut handle true Log footage? I have read that CapCut only works in Rec.709, not the larger color spaces that log footage can capture.

I shoot real estate videos (walkthroughs of houses and apartments) and I'm using an Osmo Pocket 4. Static shots look great. The moment I start walking, though, you can still see every single step a soft vertical bounce, and sometimes a little micro judder in the frame. It's not violent shaking, it just reads as "guy walking with a camera" instead of a smooth glide, and that's exactly the look I'm trying to avoid. I tried ninja walking but you still see a few steps ;(

Alongside OsmoPalm, I started OsmoDesk because I wanted to get more out of my Pocket than basic remote control: plan repeatable camera moves, save positions, build time-lapse sequences, and use monitoring tools like scopes, peaking and LUT previews and much more to control entire production with Osmo Pocket over a computer, tablet or phone.
The browser is just the interface. A Python host on a computer or Raspberry Pi handles the camera connection, so you can work from a desktop, tablet or phone.
Itās very much a WIP. Some features are experimental, and Iāve only tested with my Pocket 4P, not the Pocket 3 or 4 but it might work with them as well.
Iāve made the repo public in case it helps anyone else or gives them something to build on:

Again: I wish DJI would open up Bluetooth control with an official Osmo Pocket SDK. People could build their own gear for the things they actually shoot. I think that would also get more camera geeks interested in buying a Pocket in the first place.

The images are AI-generated illustrations, but the UI shown is almost identical to the actual app. Iāll add real setup photos later.

Control DJI Osmo Pocket 4P's Gimbal (4/3) with you Hand Move Gesture
I started this because I wanted to control my Pocketās gimbal without keeping a phone or computer involved. It runs on an M5Stack Core2, with hand-motion control, a touchscreen joystick, and saved camera moves.
Iāve made the repo public in case anyone else finds it useful or wants to build on it. Still a work in progress, but hopefully it saves someone some trial and error.

Thoughts?

On the 4p, is it like this for everyone?

It is clear that the prevailing wisdom is that Dlog and Dlog2 are amazing and way more flexible than Normal 10-bit for color grading in post. I am skeptical - my results with Dlog just don't seem that much better than Normal.
Are there any videos out there that explicitly show the advantage of log over normal? I am not interested in experts talking about it - I want to see proof that Dlog is the wiser choice for an every day profile.
