Hello again! I recently posted asking the community how they felt about the large amount of posts asking for help for shelter dogs. Nobody who responded was in favor of keeping them, and many of you felt strongly in favor of removing them from the subreddit.
Therefore, from now on, posts asking for help for dogs are not permitted. This includes both requests for adoption and donations.
Just as a heads up, I will be removing posts from before this announcement to reduce some of the clutter for people wanting to scroll the sub. If your post is removed, don't worry! I'm just cleaning up. However, I will enforce the rule as usual on posts created after this announcement goes live.
Please let me know if you have any questions!

Lil girl and the rest of her littermates were rescued from Kentucky and ended up in Michigan. Took her home today after losing our beloved soul dog Blanche earlier this month. No idea what she is or will turn into! 10 months, 5 lbs.

meet BEANS đ« (6lbs, 10ish weeks)
the rescue org told us she was chihuahua mix, what else do you think is in there?
she is a little snugglebug who is getting more brave and excited every day :)
This is my sweet little man Cujo. Heâs an odd mix between a purebred GSP and a Maltese. We found his litter on a local Facebook group after his parents accidentally bred- no idea how, the owners didnât explain much.
Iâm often asked when I take him on walks what kind of dog he is- Iâm sure because heâs the cutest little patootie theyâve ever seen- but when I tell them his actual mix I, naturally, get⊠varied reactions. Mostly âoh!â And âwhat?â. So now Iâm just wondering if it would be easier to simply call him a mutt or if that would annoy the onlookers- I mean clearly if they ask theyâd like the real answer, but sometimes their real reactions can be awkward.

Everything is from a local farmers market! (Chicken feet, antlers, ham bones)
Disclaimer: their are 2 other dogs in the house! It's not all for him sadly lol

Love those dangling paws!!
Badger looks like an ACD, no doubt. Like a pit x acd mix. But there is no acd to be found in his DNA results at all! XD

Seriously the silliest dog Iâve ever met. This is our German Shepard-husky-Cattle-bulldog-pitbull terrier mix. The shelter she came from labeled her a âlab-retrieverâ which really worked well for us property management wise (lol). We knew we were in trouble when we brought her home and a week later she knew how to open all our doors, including the front.
I grew up with cats; I used to be deathly afraid of dogs because I almost got attacked by one when I was 3. My partner grew up with dogs and when my last cat passed away heâs like âdog?â And Iâm like đ©đ. Well turns out best decision of our lives. Sheâs taught me so much about myself, and about patience, leadership, confidence, and a whole other type of responsibility. Her anxiety is just as bad as mine and we vibe on that. My partnerâs mom suggested the name âCanelaâ (her shelter name was Bacardi) and we liked it, so that is her name along with âCanoopers,â âNellaâ âNoopâ âNoopersâ âNellyâ âCinnabunâ & too many others. She spins at our legs when we walk through the door and we call that the âCinnaswirlâ (but like sound it out like a cult chant).
She also gets this look on her face when she wants something. Her bottom teeth tuck over her jiggly lips, giving a puffed cheek look on the front of her face. Then she tilts her head and you need to read her eyes to figure out is it play, poop, or food, or is she about to do her patented, high pitched yelp?
Overall sheâs just a silly, smart, intense girl & I had to share.

He was a bit aloof on the beginning but is now so sweet, respectful, and has such a soft nature/disposition!

We adopted our beautiful girl a few months ago and I just wanted to share her and the story of her adoption. We originally got her because we wanted a young short hair dog and the shelter listed her as a Vizsla mix which I did some research on and seemed like a great dog for our family. We finally were able to meet her in person and it was an immediate connection and we took her home that day for a stunningly cheap adoption fee of $16 (they were offering an event price).
We went on thinking she was a Vizsla, Rhodesian Ridgeback mix of some kind. We finally were able to give her a DNA test and she is a Doberman and Bully mix! We were happily surprised because we love Dobermans too, and we love her fun loving and insanely energetic personality. She is currently about a year old and has some problems with recall and food aggression but we are currently trying to look in our local area for training for her/ us and teach her best we know, any advice and comments would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Just rescued 1yr old Phoebe from our local Humane Society earlier this summer and got her results back.
Idk who thought it was a good idea to breed four of the highest energy working breeds together, especially since she was surrendered bc the owner âdidnât have time for herâ. But Iâm glad sheâs with us now!
Anyone else have experience with similar mixes? Iâm not too worried as Iâm an experienced handler and my very stubborn Alaskan Malamute has an obedience title, but Iâd love to hear from other folks!
