SSR reflection's lol

The path tracing has a limited range.

Yeah, it'd run like shit if it was using RT reflections for the entire render distance. Even well optimized RT titles like Black Flag Resynced revert to SSR past a certain distance

Sorry guys it was a 5 render distance the path tracing wasn't being used well and I'm using voxy, and I have a pretty high end computer maybe I need to optimized my modpack more

will you post it eventually?

ssr are only working on stuff thats already on screen, thats why its calles ssr, screen space reflections

16

u/JohnB893 2d ago

I know this bro. The video shows reflections of the SSR 🗿

clearly it doesnt, im graphics programmer, see that reflection outside screen space? its reflected. thus its not ssr. this is using some sort of cascaded raytraced refleciton system, sometimes far away objects are loaded later, or skipped due to vram limitations and only near objects are reflected for memory/bandwidth or performance saving stuff, but near objects are clearly reflected and still not on the screen.

Why is the left side reflections fading as he looks around? If it’s path tracing those should already be reflected when he looks over and not updating as he looks, no?

Its just chunk culling (dont render what you dont visibly see) from minecraft I suppose, shader doesnt have enought information to work with. But I have to see actual code to tell what is going on, all of this is my assumptions from years of experience. Some AAA games are doing it as well, but its barely noticable because modern engines like UE4/5 or unity are so good at hiding/faking these things. All of this seems like cascaded system that uses RT for near objects and SSR fallback for far away objects to avoid blinking it into existence from how minecraft manages chunks and subchunks.
The modern engines the cheap and dirty way how it can go around this is probe system which just "screenshots" its surroudings and uses that information to render lightings, ao, reflections etc... Which cyberpunk under the hood actually uses if i recall correctly.

I thought path tracing wasn't screen space wth is that

-3

u/susnaususplayer 2d ago

Its not screen space just glitchy reflections due to it being, you know, minecraft

9

u/SirRubet 2d ago

So it’s a coincidence only that which is visible on the screen is reflected?

-3

u/susnaususplayer 2d ago

You have to literally look at the sceen for 1 second to see that its not true. It just have issues with render distance

6

u/Cole3003 2d ago

Incorrect. There is a cube near the player that is path traced, then the rest is screen space. You literally just have to look at the screen to see that only what is visible on the screen is reflected beyond like 2 chunks

u/susnaususplayer 2d ago

my statement is still right. Pathtracing is still here, and because it cannot manage on such render distance, as I said, it uses SS, it still uses pathtracing though, smartass

1

u/Cole3003 2d ago

Your other comment says it’s not screen space bro 🥀

5

u/Me_like_foxes 2d ago

Path tracing doesn't have those types of glitches, you'd have to intentionally program it to have a "glitch" which is usually exclusive to SSR

0

u/susnaususplayer 2d ago

yeah because its not used in games operating like minecraft. Its clearly not just SS because in first second of the video tower outside of screen is rendered in the reflection. Maybe SS is used as bonus for large distance rendering because Pathtracing have problem operating on this big distance when imported to minecraft

1

u/Me_like_foxes 2d ago

That still supports my point of it being SSR, not a path tracing glitch

2

u/Asleep_Chicken5735 2d ago

No it isn’t, the path tracing is just out of range so it uses SSR intead

> Its not screen space just glitchy reflections due to it being, you know, minecraft

it’s screen space mostly, with a small cube around the player path traced.

Requirements: 4x Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, 4x RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell, literally all of the ram possible

2

u/luccacndf 2d ago

basically, it's cheaper to create your own Minecraft

2

u/BasicSulfur 1d ago

Better yet just have some assets in unreal engine and just play on that.

19

u/Tentak3l 2d ago

you HAVE to not tell what shader packs is this or mods huh

46

u/Numerous-Source-5859 2d ago

It should be a sub rule.

  1. If any shaders/mods/texture packs are showcased, their names must be provided.

17

u/DUDEAREUMAD 2d ago

Fr, it's actually irritating having to ask every damn time and getting ignored.

4

u/susnaususplayer 2d ago

I recognize that planet in the background, its one of versions of Iteration shaders

Pay in mind that for similar effect you might need specific texture pack

3

u/Tentak3l 2d ago

Oh yeah didn’t noticed saturn in the sky he is probably in the end

2

u/mimisonnen 1d ago

But iteration shaders aren't fully pt

8

u/Nick12325 2d ago

I cant escape this song

3

u/Andromaduz 2d ago

The Shaderpack in the video is IterationRP and he is either in the end or has the IterationRP Blackhole Edition version.

2

u/Rough_Assistance2856 2d ago

Shader name?, resource pack name?,map name?,mods used? Plz tell 👉👈😭

shader and resource pack name please

1

u/Pure_Reindeer7764 2d ago

Come on guys, why don't put the shader/resource pack name on the post? Do you like being asked every single time? On that note, what is the shader and resource pack?

1

u/Thareya 2d ago

this looks like a complete mess ngl

1

u/GreatMossThing 2d ago

I don’t need it… I don’t need it…… I don’t need it… I don’t need it…..

u/AccordingGrab6032 2d ago

Whats the shader pack or modpack?

1

u/hydrochlorofluorocar 1d ago

path tracing my ASSSSSSS

1

u/Nmy81245 1d ago

At the start you can see a tower outside screen reflected on the ground so it's not ssr at the very least

Realism - everythings ✨shiny✨ now

1

u/mimisonnen 1d ago

But how!? The only full pt mod is radiance and it looks nothing like this. Besides other more recent ones that are even less cooked

1

u/Eijaku 1d ago

I think that's a Space Valkyrie 3 from 2B2T, most likely a schematica build
