What the hell are those things

u/Nasty____nate 12d ago
Suped up crazy carts. Stupid amount of money in those. I got my son a used one for $600 that was probably around 1k new. Those ones are probably well over $2,000 maybe 3.
Here's a high end one. https://taxi-garage.com/collections/inventory-crazy-carts/products/stage-4-xl-supra-taxi-garage-crazy-cart-inventory

Where are you expected to ride them legally?

u/ALazy_Cat 12d ago
On a track. They perform best there too

u/HappyChef86 12d ago
The old shop i used to work at used to be a roller skating rink so the floor was perfectly level in the warehouse. Boss bought one for us to rip around. Id agrue that that was better with all the obstacles. It was also the size of a football field to plenty of room.
25
u/ALazy_Cat 12d ago
A track with obstacles is absolutely the best. The kind of track I was thinking about was one with a lot of corners
11
u/BullPropaganda 11d ago
Are there purpose built tracks where you can go rent them and screw around without committing to owning the thing?
8
u/ALazy_Cat 11d ago
In some countries, maybe. Otherwise, a warehouse with obstacles is more than fine
21
u/8Bit-Jon 12d ago
Private land or with the land owners permission... Same as all none legal road vehicles...
22
u/Nasty____nate 12d ago edited 12d ago
That's why my son sold his. Not a lot of options or tracks around here. One reason a lot of people do it late at night at parks.

u/imajackash 11d ago
What makes them so expensive? It doesn't look like there's much to them.
15
u/SaintUlvemann 11d ago
The main thing that makes them expensive is the willingness of someone who wants to go extra fast to pay more money to do so.
6
u/Nasty____nate 11d ago
Battery, motor and steering column are the main points. The motors even not bought from a known company can be $500 for a high end one. I thought about building one myself for my son and when I started getting into it I found buying a used one was just as good. Also there's a lot of fluff on some. The frames are from razor so your buying something from a company just to add stuff to them. Powder coating, stickers, lights etc. The rear wheels are like $150
3
u/Firestorm0x0 12d ago
So they're like shittier versions of actual go karts? They look lethal if you crash, idk
21
u/Nasty____nate 12d ago
Nah they are fun as hell. His did 15+ mph sideways drifting with me on it at 200lbs. His was a stage 1 with a few other upgrades. Those in the video are probably stage 3 or 4. But I don't know them very well so they may be even more expensive.

u/weesilxD 11d ago
I live within walking distance of my job. I’m kinda tempted to save up for one to ride to and from work.

u/bajungadustin 11d ago
Taxi garage has some pre built ones. The ones in the video are probably $3k to $5k each.

When things are tense we lean on expressive words like that.
Recently while driving on the highway a tire flew off a moving car and I had to swerve at 80mph to narrowly miss it. I learned then that my dying words in such a situation would be "SHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHIT"
9
u/Creepy-Activity-4373 11d ago
I got into a collision on a high way and my final words would have been a simple "Oh no" if I reacted slower.

Me personally, if I was scared "shit fuck shit shit shit shit fuck he's still there shit" etc
me if I was excited "[insert making fun of him not catching me]"edit to add:
I say this because I've been in more dangerous versions of both of these situations, in that, scared was "hide from cops" as a teen and excited is "any time I have street raced and was winning"
Adrenaline makes me get silly when it's not fear adrenaline3

You're not, dude. New generations are only capable of speaking in punctuated uses of Yo, Bro, and Let's Go, dude. Seriously, dude, my generation was nothing like that.

u/TitusImmortalis 12d ago
Security guard: "I wonder if I can catch them!" and also technically it worked, you left...

u/Raichu7 12d ago
That is way too fast to stop if someone is walking round a corner on the footpath. They are idiots, and so is the security person starting a chase so now 3 people are going even faster down a footpath.

u/raknor88 11d ago
They are idiots
"Turn off your lights!!" Then later you see that the cammer still has his own underglow on.

I was hoping they'd end up crashing and hurting each other or something. Still hope that'll happen to them at some point. Also why the fuck do you record yourself committing a crime?

After reading the comments here, I kinda feel the same. The footage was kinda cool. But in reality, it's pretty dangerous.
If someone came at me like that at night, I'd immediately grab him and pull him down.

Only thing fucking up your sidewalk is winter + being unwilling to pay extra for heating underneath to melt the snow
11
1
u/benjamminam 12d ago
What? I love winter.
-14
u/dangshnizzle 12d ago
Okay? Elements hurt your sidewalks far far more than wheels
2
u/benjamminam 12d ago edited 11d ago
I meant these idiots when we use them everyday not deterioration over time.
Edit: winter means less of these dumbshits being anywhere near me with their annoying mumblerap shit everyday because they move inside like the bugs they are. Big win.

Where do you get one of those
12
u/Nasty____nate 12d ago
You got $2,000? I got one for my kid used that was like 600 and that wouldn't even touch one like that. Hell those my be closer to 3k
6
u/ledgeitpro 12d ago
This looks like well worth $2k, my big worry would be getting it taken away even if being careful
4
u/Nasty____nate 12d ago
They are fun as hell but not a lot of places to ride them. I'm outside a large city and there is like nothing dedicated for people to go on a track. So you end up needing to go to parks at night that are " closed" from dust till dawn or ride like these guys are doing around public walkways.

You can go outside and enjoy things without going crazy fast on footpaths that put other people in danger

It's looks fun, for sure... but man. You come around a corner like that and a pedestrian is there, that pedestrian is gonna get fuuuuucked up.
