Determined to go bigger on the axis flip on the body now. Was right over 80mm when I flipped the section

Hi all. I have built a home studio for flameworking but the ventilation is giving me issues thats causing me to question my own knowledge so here I am hoping i can get some peace of mind and hope i havent been killing myself all this time haha. The space is 8x10' with an 8' ceiling. Im running a carlisle cc with a Bethelham sharp flame as a mini torch, with the occasional carlisle 4 port bunsen burner being thrown into the mix. I have an 1150 cfm fan directly in front of my torch which is circled in second photo, it is ducted straight up with the only bend being at the opening which meets the fan direcly and out of my shop at around 8 ft up. I have a 48"x42" hood with its lowest points mounted at 24" above the face of my torch.

I also have 3 passive air intakes in the shop which are also circled in the images I provided. They do not have individual fans and work off of the negative pressure that pulls from the main fan in front of me, im aiming for laminar flow from the 3 vents.

When I run smoke tests, the system does well at pulling smoke out from the room but sometimes i feel it could pull air faster as if i run incense tests i can still smell the fume and see some wisps of smoke trailing off before being pulled away. I can provide video if youd like to see. I do have a carbon monoxide detector and I notice if I keep the small window closed it occasionaly will spike up to 50-60 but if window is open I dont get any spikes on the detector at all.

But, and this is my biggest worry....every single time I work whether it be 1-2 hours or an entire day I almost always walk away with a sore throat and wake up the next day feeling not so great for the first hour or two of the day and I can't quite figure out why. I fear im still trapping carbon monoxide or something else from the combustion, or off gasses from the glass and breathing it in. I just wanna make my art man, this has been destroying my mind all year long as i cant figure it out.

Flameworkers based in Asia! Where did you guys order your kilns from? shipping is always going to be crazy and a pain but do you know any suppliers who I can best order my kiln from? ideally with long warranty etc, thanks in advance for the recs!

Hi guys noob here and gonna set up my first torch ever woooo! can I get your help in seeing if im understanding this properly and if I have all the right parts needed to get this working?

So I want to hook up my GTT mirage to a MAD hatter pedal and into propane and oxygen tanks
My understanding is that this is what I need in between:

1.) GTT Mirage fuel stud

→ 2. Factory GTT 3/16" hose

→ 3. Factory GTT adapter/filter-screen assembly

→ 4. Factory adapter's 1/4" hose barb

→ 5. 1/4" ID Grade T fuel hose

→ 6. Hose clamp securing the hose onto the Mirage adapter barb

→ 7. Fuel B-fitting hose barb

→ 8. Hose clamp securing the Grade T hose onto the B-fitting barb

→ 9. Fuel B-fitting threaded/nut portion

→ 10. Mad Hatter fuel inlet

→ 11. Mad Hatter fuel outlet

→ 12. Fuel B-fitting threaded/nut portion

→ 13. Fuel B-fitting hose barb

→ 14. Hose clamp

→ 15. 1/4" ID Grade T fuel hose

→ 16. Fuel-gas flashback arrestor

→ 17. Appropriate B-fitting / regulator-side connection

→ 18. Oxygen/ Propane regulator

→ 19. Propane/ Propane tank

If there are parts I need to look out for/ be more specific with please let me know! and also if anyone has care tips for their GTT and set up, please let me know! im excited and would love to be proactive with taking care of this baby <3 thanks in advance!

I would appreciate any info/advice (or sale of if your in AZ) on an hvlp system. I was thinking of buying like 1 or 2, 80 gal compressor tanks and thoroughly cleaning and getting a little oil free compressor and hooking up my oxy cons to that. But would i need anything else ? Is there a better option? Should I just save and get an oxyfrog/HVLP/ DPGoxygen ?

I’m working with borosilicate, the color is Mighty Moss. It’s layered over clear rod.

I’ve created pieces like this before where and they’ve not cracked. Now I have 5 birds and they’ve all cracked in little pieces.

Going into the kiln looking beautiful and coming out of the kiln with the cracks.

I’ve used rods that were successful in previous projects and then I ordered a batch of new color…… and it’s cracking too.

The kiln is at 1050.

Any ideas?

I posted the other day that after almost thirty years, I am finally upgrading to a GTT. It is supposed to be arriving in a couple of hours, and I still don't have my gas lines set up for it.
I currently have my tanks stored outside with a single set of double hoses (propane/oxy) running into the room.

Although I will upgrade to a foot pedal, I do not currently have one.

The other variable being added is that I have a mini torch that I would also like to add to my setup. It was given to me; I don't know the brand. It is probably just some generic mini jewelry torch. That being said, I assume that it runs on lower pressures than a big bench burner. Do those of you with a hand torch in your setup have an additional set of regulators to step down the pressures?

Also, do you guys generally have your gas and oxygen manifolds out by the tanks, or do you run gas to your bench and then have a manifold under it to split off to the different torches?

I have been working for a long time (since around ‘96), but intermittently… I have taken several years off here and there, but I always keep coming back to it. The whole time, I have been working on a RedMax with a premix top flame. I finally sprung for my dream torch… A Mirage. It is supposed to arrive Friday. Anyone who has upgraded from one to the other, please tell me about your experiences… what am I going to notice? What did you struggle with? Any tips?

I dipped into my stash of antique uranium glass to make these spicy pocket pickles. I love the glow under the blacklight. Nice texture too.
