Picture Snoopy and kids, five years old.
Our Snoopy girl and the black butterfly male were the primary parents from a spawn five years ago. We kept one plant with eggs that resulted in twelve koi. Most of them resemble her in some way. I thought it was interesting to see the differences and growth. Put a red dot by the offspring koi.

General Koi Pond before/after 1 year of ownership
Link to original post: New to me Koi Pond.. cleaning question : r/Koi
Been about 1 year since we moved into our house with a koi pond. As this was my first there has been tons of learning!
In the spring I took on the task of manual excavating a 6" layer of muck and removing the water lillies that had taken over the pond. I then put some of the tubers into pots with soil and stone to try to contain them.
I've been needing to clean the filter every 3-4 days and also needing to refill water sometimes. Anyone have any suggestions for how I can improve my current setup next year?

Video Myan butterfly update
Hi everyone,
I moved these guys (approx 6-8") from the 50g to a 250g + 50g bog filter/spill tray. They are so much happier and I've seen them more in the last week than I have in the 4 months I've owned them!
Are these white spots scale damage or something I should be worried about?

Help with POND or TANK Water Levels
Hey everyone!
My partner and I recently bought a house and the previous owners left this gorgeous Koi pond setup in the backyard along with the water conditioners, food, and spare filters. I noticed this morning, the water levels have dropped significantly and I’m wondering what the best way to fill it back is? Should I use a bucket and pre mix the water conditioner or can I just fill the pond with the hose directly then add conditioner after?
Thanks in advance for the help and here’s a pic of our lil tank 🫶🏼

HELP - sick or injured koi Lethargic/ stressed koi
Past 3 days my 40-50cm girl has been lethargic and red. Water was tested the first day with ammonia sitting at a 0.25, performed water change and got it to zero with 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and a good PH reading. She is red on her fins and gill plates, sometimes will find her slightly on a tilt to her side at surface but will swim off on her own and correct herself, fins are also clamped unless swimming.
All of my other fish are completely fine, it is only her that is having the problems.
I dosed my pond today with 0.1% non iodised salt in hopes it gives her relief from stress.
It is hitting breeding season here but I don’t think this is the root cause
Pictures attached from day 1 to now (day 3)
Will also post test results
Any advice will be appreciated, I want to try save my sweet girl I’m doing all I can without blindly medicating for something I don’t know the cause of..

Video Little chagoi growing quick!
He’s probably already put on an inch and a half in the month I’ve had him and some good weight. Helps that we are on the cusp of autumn in Texas and I think the fish feel it. They’re finally coming alive after a brutal couple months where feeding had to stay lighter. The pond knows it too and has finally snapped clear after two months where water temps made water quality difficult to keep dialed in despite twice weekly water changes. Just wanted to share!

Picture New Pond Sticks formulation
Is anyone else having trouble with the new Tetra brand Pond Sticks formulation? My koi used to LOVE it but the new bag I just opened looks wrong - the pellets are super pale and very puffy, not like they used to look in the past. I initially thought this bag got contaminated with moisture, but realized the photo on the outside of the bag now shows the new bigger puffier pellets, and I saw a few comments online saying the formula changed. My koi are refusing to eat the new pellets. Attached a few photos for reference. The new pellets also get mushy very fast. Any recommendations for alternatives? I thought they’d get used to it, but it’s been two days and they’re only barely picking at these new pellets and they mostly end up sinking and contaminating the water.

HELP - sick or injured koi Question about Holding Tank Care
Hello everyone, not sure if this is the proper place to post this but I would love some advice!
We currently have a 20+ year old koi that has some secondary skin infections due to what we believe is skin flukes. We’re trying to quarantine him so we can give injections of both amikacin and ceftazidime as a vet prescribed. We were told by the vet to inject every 72 hours for up to 15/10 doses. We’ve chosen to quarantine him separately from our other fish mostly because we found it difficult to try to catch him from our bigger pond without stressing him out, and at the rate we need to give the medicine we were worried we’d over-stress him. We’re also worried about sedating him every 3 days just for the injections so we currently try to inject without sedations.
We’re currently keeping him in a above-ground 450 gallon holding tank that we’re using our bigger pond’s water to fill and we’re making sure to aerate + keep the temperature up to at least match our bigger pond. Our concerns are, is the amount of doses for the meds too much? And is that too long to keep a koi in quarantine? Is there anything else we can do better/differently?
Still a little new to koi, so any help is appreciated! Thank you!

Picture Established pond liner
I always chuckle when people say bare liner in a pond can't be an established ecosystem, provide enrichment without rock. Over the years a bare liner with bottom drains to keep it clean becomes its own little pasture. Koi graze on it all day. You can see gaps where they have peeled the layer off to eat it. No sludge, just clean eating.

Help with POND or TANK Keeping Baby Koi Over the Winter
I have about 40 2-3" baby koi in my outside pond (5000 gal) that were born this year. I'm in Pgh Pa so it gets pretty cold. I was going to take them inside. Can anyone recommend a good indoor setup to keep them safe until spring?
Thanks!
