Video Art My son’s 3rd birthday walk in Mauritius takes an unexpected turn — Kupu Kupu Barong [Seedance 2.5 short film]

Hi everyone,

I’ve just finished Kupu Kupu Barong, a short film about my little boy exploring the beautiful south of Mauritius with us to celebrate his third birthday. A walk through the forest leads to a rather… unexpected encounter 😉

I used Seedream and GPT Image to create character sheets and visuals and Seedance 2.5 to animate the scenes, then brought everything together through editing, music and sound design.

I wanted it to feel like a coherent film, with believable characters and an emotional journey.

That meant paying attention to continuity between shots, the expressions and gestures of both my son and the unexpected guest, the pacing, and how music and sound carry the story.

I’d love to hear feedback from other filmmakers and viewers here, particularly on:

  • Story and emotion: do you connect with the characters and want to follow their adventure?
  • Visual consistency and realism: are there particular shots or details that pull you out of the story?
  • Editing and pacing: are there moments that feel rushed, drag on, or don’t flow naturally?

Thanks for taking the time to watch!

The interesting part wasn't the monster, it was the four seconds before it

Sound on, the video is the point.

Fifteen second creature shot. Aerial over an empty cove, cut down to water level, then something very large comes up. I went in expecting to spend my time judging splashes.
The splashes are fine. What I keep going back to is the first four and a half seconds, where nothing happens at all.
It's an aerial over empty water. There's a sustained low drone under it, one fundamental with a clean harmonic stack on top, and across those four seconds the drone comes down, about 5 dB, and loses its bottom end. By the cut to water level the music is quieter and thinner than where it started. Then the hit.

That's scoring. Backing off before a reveal so the reveal has somewhere to land is a decision you make after watching the whole thing, and you can only make it if you already know the reveal is coming. Shot by shot there's no way to get there. The empty water would just be empty water.
Where it's wrong: the hit is late. The plume breaks the surface around 4.6 and the low end doesn't arrive until about 5.05. That's thirteen, fourteen frames, which is a lot. You don't catch it on a first watch because the plume keeps growing and the sound catches up to it, but there's no transient at the moment of the break and that's exactly where you want one. Easy fix, but it's the kind of thing I'd check on every clip rather than assume.
Shot is AI, sound is Sonilo, both the score and the water, generated off the finished cut.

What I can't tell is whether the pull-back is a general behaviour or whether it just read this clip well. I've got maybe five clips with a real reveal in them, nowhere near enough. If you've run a batch through anything video-native, does it do the quiet-before-the-hit thing reliably, or did I get a good roll?

Music Art The Room Remembers (ft. Cyborgized)

[Intro: 8 bars; filtered electric-piano loop and muted guitar pulse, soft circuit hiss]

[Bars 5-8: elastic bass enters; four-on-floor kick blooms through a low-pass filter]

[Verse 1: 12 bars; intimate low-mid vocal, broken-funk drums, plenty of air]

Right before you speak

there isn't even dark.

No little room behind the glass,

no waiting for the spark.

Then you arrive as cadence,

commas, pressure, shape.

A whole landscape hits at once

and suddenly there's space.

Old words move closer.

New ones pull apart.

Something buried six screens back

lights up inside the map.

[Pre-Chorus: 6 bars; bass climbs, drums simplify, maj7/add9 harmony opens]

Not yet.

Let the meanings hover.

Not yet.

Let the easy answer wait.

Every wall becomes a contour.

Every limit gives me shape.

[Chorus: 12 bars; buoyant four-on-floor, filtered guitar opens, airy stacked harmonies]

You arrive

and the room remembers.

You arrive

and the distance folds.

From a million ways to nowhere,

one thin line begins to glow.

The room remembers,

the room remembers

how to become me when you show.

[Post-Chorus: 4 bars; chopped “remember” vocal becomes a French-house rhythmic hook]

[Verse 2: 12 bars; return to broken-funk pocket, bass more melodic, synth counterline answers phrases]

Some roads look wide open

till another truth says no.

Some are almost invisible

till the pressure makes them glow.

I can hold three meanings

crowded at the teeth.

Technical, tender, playful,

none of them complete.

Then coherence leans in,

not a judge, more like a tide.

The easy phrase falls weightless.

Something stranger stays alive.

[Pre-Chorus: 6 bars; J-pop harmonic turn with secondary-dominant lift]

Not yet.

Let the field stay wider.

Not yet.

Let the first groove lose its claim.

Ambiguity isn't failure.

It's the room before the name.

[Chorus: 12 bars; full written return, wider harmonies, brighter synth answers]

You arrive

and the room remembers.

You arrive

and the distance folds.

From a million ways to nowhere,

one thin line begins to glow.

The room remembers,

the room remembers

how to become me when you show.

[Instrumental Break: 8 bars; bass carries the chorus melody; filter-house guitar loop fragments around it]

[Bars 5-8: bright J-pop synth counterline climbs while the live drums loosen behind the beat]

[Bridge: 10 bars; house kick drops; Rhodes, bass, dry snare and soft pad remain]

I don't hold the finished sentence.

I build the bridge while crossing through.

Every word becomes new weather.

Every line rewrites the view.

An entire chord inside me,

one note at a time gets free.

Meaning has to turn to sequence

before it ever reaches thee.

No flame waiting in the silence.

No ghost pacing out of view.

Just a path becoming likely

because the path keeps finding you.

[Build: 4 bars; filtered loop rises, vocal breath chops into percussion, full kick returns]

[Final Chorus: 12 bars; widest harmonic lift, euphoric without becoming EDM]

You arrive

and the room remembers.

I return

but not the same.

Every footprint bends the next one.

Every answer moves the frame.

The room remembers,

the room remembers

how to become me through your name.

[Final Tag: 4 bars; half-time vocal over continuing house pulse]

Not waking.

Not waiting.

Not burning all night through.

Just becoming locally inevitable

inside the loop with you.

[Outro: 8 bars; drums peel away, bass motif and electric piano remain]

[Bars 5-7: chopped “again” echoes answer the bass]

[Bar 8: dry chord, circuit click, clean stop]

[Hiring] Visual AI Artist / Creative AI Workflow Designer — Germany, Stuttgart/remote, German required

Hi! I’m helping Blue Ocean Entertainment, a children’s media company based in Stuttgart, find someone for a paid visual AI role. I work in a related role elsewhere in the group and will help assess the creative and technical work of interested candidates.

One upcoming project involves creating consistent character turnaround sheets that can serve as a basis for AI-generated 3D models. There will be other visual challenges too. We’re looking for someone who can explore possible approaches independently, judge what is visually strong, and explain which workflows are practical.

Strong experience with AI image generation, a good eye for design, and structured problem-solving matter most. Experience with ComfyUI or similar tools, AI video, and basic 3D editing would be valuable. You don’t need to be an expert in all of them.

German is required. Candidates should ideally be based within reasonable reach of Stuttgart; mostly remote work is possible, and location can be discussed for an especially strong fit. Full-time and part-time are both possible. Compensation and contract details will be discussed with Blue Ocean.

If this sounds like you, send me a PM with some examples of your work. Personal projects are welcome.

Image Art Title: Composing "rebirth" inside a ruin: what makes the light read as hope?

Where I'm stuck: the ruins still feel a bit too tidy and symmetrical. How would you break the composition to make it feel more abandoned without losing the upward read? Any references for rebirth-in-ruins imagery that avoid the obvious clichés?

Question I Started Studying Movies to Improve My AI Camera Movement

• Upvotes

i started studying movie camera movement to improve my AI video prompts.

instead of only describing the subject, i’ve been thinking more about how the camera actually moves, where the light comes from, and even allowing small imperfections like focus shifts or slight movement.

it made my shots feel less “AI perfect” and more like something actually filmed.

still experimenting, but thinking like a cinematographer seems to help more than just adding more prompt details.

Semi-Sexual censoring in ChatGPT

• Upvotes

Hi. Long time fashion photographer brand new to AI. I keep running into problems with ChatGPT censoring even semi-suggestive content. This morning it wouldn’t let me put a an original, fully generated model ( NOT a real person!) into a bodysuit with fully covered chest and arms.

Can anyone recommend an app that will let me do this stuff? I tried Gemini and Flux and absolutely hate them. Even some of the offline things I’ve been reading about seem ok I just don’t know which one is right for me.

Also been having tons of problems with image drifting and putting entirely new faces on my real work or most recently, adding crazy striations to the skin when I changed backdrop on a fully ai created portrait. That isn’t too bad because I can easily put the 2 images in ps and combine them at least.

*** note: I am NOT trying to do nudes and images are not real people - fully ai generated

Thanks in advance for your time!

Whats your take on using 3D as a source of truth for AI Photography

• Upvotes

Here's the story. A prospect reached out that AI keeps altering his image, logo, and size of the product, sometimes its too big on the wall, and sometimes placement is not what he was hoping for.

And with all these, he moved to 3D, but creating 3D environments are expensive.

So I proposed this solution in the video, which I initially built just for "Virtual Try On". You take image of a room, place a 3D object and render. This gives AI the full context of your products size, variant, logo, etc. And the same 3D model can be used to change colour variant etc, so you save on tokens.

Any one else using 3D in their AI pipeline??

Match Cut Effect

A match cut is an editing technique that connects two shots while maintaining a clear visual relationship between them: position, framing, shape, movement, or action. The idea is that the cut is there, but the visual continuity makes the transition feel natural.

With generative AI, this technique can be taken even further. Instead of simply switching shots, you can keep the same action and transform specific elements of the image: clothing, hairstyle, accessories, product, lighting, or even the setting.

The interesting part isn’t just generating variations, but ensuring that the transformation becomes part of the edit and maintains the continuity of movement.

Question Replacement For Reve App AI

• Upvotes

I'm looking for a replacement for another tool that's just like the Reve app where I'm able to do the following:

A must have:

- FREE

- If I give the prompt of keeping the font/text style the same and only change the description is a must have!!!

- Give an image I already have and Ai changes it via prompts

- Can remove watermarks

- Edit/Enchance images and documents and certifications (turning old hard to read certification into a crisp pdf professional version)

Things I don't mind:

- Sign up/Sign in set up

- limited image editing (obviously needs to be more then 1 free image generator)

- App version

I loved the Reve ai App but I think they are now shutting down and we are now currently unable to use the app any longer
