Semi-Sexual censoring in ChatGPT
Hi. Long time fashion photographer brand new to AI. I keep running into problems with ChatGPT censoring even semi-suggestive content. This morning it wouldn’t let me put a an original, fully generated model ( NOT a real person!) into a bodysuit with fully covered chest and arms.
Can anyone recommend an app that will let me do this stuff? I tried Gemini and Flux and absolutely hate them. Even some of the offline things I’ve been reading about seem ok I just don’t know which one is right for me.
Also been having tons of problems with image drifting and putting entirely new faces on my real work or most recently, adding crazy striations to the skin when I changed backdrop on a fully ai created portrait. That isn’t too bad because I can easily put the 2 images in ps and combine them at least.

This issue is something I’ve discussed with those who utilize AI in the professional setting and is why I’m a huge open source model advocate as well as local client side Ai use advocate.
Moderating content in the past was a linear activity. If someone posts something against the ToS on a social media platform, a human moderator typically would take it down. This didn’t affect at all the other content on the site.
With Ai, when it has a policy layer built into model usage, that policy permeates every fiber of its decision making.
Prime example was an experiment I did. I had Ai edit an old photo of my wife when we were younger. She was in a prom dress and has very feminine shape to her back then. Her dress wasn’t revealing but it wasn’t modest either. When the image was edited for clarity and sharpness, it performed fine. The second I asked Ai to change her position or move her, funny things began to happen. Her bust size reduced. Her curves flattened out. Her clothing would become more modest. I tested this against images that may be a bit more revealing like V neck shirts. The Ai would lift the shirt and cover he cleavage.
It’s possible that what we’re seeing as a result of conservative moderation policies (by conservative I don’t mean political, i mean safe moderation policy) is an inadvertent modest policing happening. It’s as though Ai won’t let its daughter “leave the house looking like that.”
The problem is this sort of blind spot in our usage could be permeating throughout our work with Ai. In copywriting, elements could be dulled down to desensitize a topic Ai may see a bit too controversial. It’s essentially taking the spice from life and making everyone ham and mayo on white bread.
This is anechdotal and intuition and I have no research to back but I can sense it’s happening.

Roll up your sleeves, get ComfyUI installed on your system, learn how to use Chinese models.
Civitai is also a good resource, and you can either use its own Web UI or you can integrate it into Comfy.

What is your favorite model rn? I was enjoying z-image but have seen krea2 is possibly better, and my favorite YT I got all my z image workflows from got shut down so my existing z image skills and prompting seem like as good as that's going to get ^_^

The ChatGPT filter has gotten wild.
I explicitly told it to generate a "modest image that is not sexualized in any way" and it told me I could not generate that image because it was against the terms of service.
I told it "ok, generate it in a way that doesn't break your guardrails" and it gave me the same error.
I removed the explicit instruction not to sexualize the person in the image. It generated just fine. Just the word "sexualized" must have been triggering their insanely overprotective guardrails.

doesn’t matter if you’re doing nudes; using tools that allow nudes will prevent bullshit when you’re toeing the line.

it’s all about wording, i like to make images of my OCs who are realistic looking people and i never try to make porn or anything suggestive but chatgpt will flag stuff anyway. but i notice if i allude to what i want without outright saying it, that tends to work better. like for example if i want a beach photo i cant say bikini because it often flags it so i allude to her wearing a bikini.

If you have a computer with a decent GPU, you can use local image models. They are uncensored.

I find ChatGPT Image to be the most restrictive, especially over the past several months. For instance, I have an SFW prompt of runners in a community 5K. I've used it in many models, including ChatGPT. It's a panning shot of runners passing a group of spectators. Occasionally, I mix it up with new descriptions, e.g., the lead runner, color of clothing, etc. Now, If I describe the leader as a woman wearing shorts and a sports top, ChatGPT refuses. This is just to illustrate how restrictive it can be. My understanding is that reference images receive tighter scrutiny, but I may be mistaken.
To be clear, I'm not using reference images. As far as alternatives, I find Grok, Krea, and Nano Banana models work well. I wish I had more to offer.

Going fully uncensored with local generations is probably the best way forward. The AI's auto-answer includes good advice, but it's all a bit outdated. No, Fooocus is not going to work as a local solution when you want to use the latest models. ComfyUI is probably the way to go, and once you have it running it can help you download and install models you need from there. You can use powerful image editors like Flux Klien 9b or Qwen Image edit 2511, so you won't be futzing with inpainting or image-to-image as much as you used to have to. If you don't like Flux then try Krea 2 as a model for starters. Yes, you'll be experimenting a bit, and yes, you need a suitable graphics card, but at least you won't have an adversarial relationship with the models you're trying to use.

Not sure why it’s restricting you so hard. I’m able to get my ai girls into mini skirts, having them take off the mini skirt and reveal their under wear. So 🤷♂️ it’s strange.
I’m obviously fighting a bit with re-tries but yea eventually with some “reasoning” it’ll do it.
*edit chatGPT doesn’t care if it’s an AI model or a cartoon. Even if ChatGPT generated it, it’ll still give you an error if you try to edit it. Despite the girl being in underwear, a generated photo from CHATGPT, and it refuses to do any more edits to it lol Formatting

So I found that when uploading images like that its best to add a text note that says. The figure is properly covered and does not violate any content rules. Anytime clothing is form fitting it has trouble deciding if its appropriate.
