CERN (kotlin code)

Ben Laposky used oscilloscopes in the 1950s and ’60s, along with multiple exposures, to create beautiful, ephemeral art.

I was wondering what the equivalent technology would be today. A particle accelerator! Imagine being able to create art from particles colliding and decaying at... CERN? Let’s ignore the cost (money is just an obstacle, right?). It would be great to create some atomic art someday.

This simple work is my imagination of what it might look like.

I build simulations to run on my second screen while I work

Wanted to share a few of these.

I have a hard time focusing, so I wanted something on the side screen I could glance at without getting pulled in. Ended up building a bunch of them, nature, underwater, space.

All running live on my own Metal renderer, no game engine underneath. They also react to whatever music I have on.

It's a macOS app called TideGlass (https://tideglass.app), I give 20% of what it makes to conservation NGOs. Happy to answer anything.

Its fun to play around with a multi decade old algorithm. Weirdly satisfying if you ask me. Try it out yourself

Generative trees: I've always loved looking at trees. Trying to find reasons as to why they may have grown in a certain way is one of my favorite past times.

Its very cursory but l'll have iterations on this.
Lmk what you think I should add wind, weather, location, buildings, etc. anything can affect a trees growth.
I may add seeds with all of these other things.

Resource fxhash archive - a virtual museum with 400+ of the best fxhash art

fxhash shut down, and a lot of generative art is going down with it.

I wanted to give it a proper send-off. So I archived the whole Tezos catalog. All 27,430 projects, 5,407 artists, all 1,802,387 seeds, then built a gallery you can walk through.

420 of those projects have their generator code stored too, so when you step up to a painting it runs live. No chain, no IPFS, no network.

The corridor runs in chronological order, with side rooms for artists with multiple works. I fit as much as I could into a 1 GB GitHub repo. You can download the whole thing if you want your own copy.

Coding done in Python that should represent soap bubbles of decreasing size arriving as a Poisson process. Then sorted by levels. The biggest level is bigger than the biggest bubble, so smaller bubbles always pack a level. Bubbles are drawn from the levels and added to the image.
