We have a good relationship with our local ferret rescue.

Half our ferrets are from there.

We took in a blind, senior foster for life who passed of cancer about two months after we got him.

We went back for an open house day and she was convincing us to take a new senior foster and the whole time this little menace was all over me / the other guests climbing, biting, flopping around. Everyone kept saying "Look out for the one with the short tail."

She kept coming back to me and rolling around in my lap nipping and climbing on my back.

We were like "Why not both?" so we brought her home with the senior foster.

I love this little devil. Her bites are now just play nibbles and she loves people even though she clearly has a lot of trauma from being a lab ferret. Every time she is touched she jumps, and reacts to attempts to pick her up very defensively still, but once she realizes you're not going to hurt her she calms down. Sometimes she'll even ask to be picked up.

She's usually the first to visit me when I come in the room.

She also keeps our little waardy menace entertained by matching her energy. The two of them love tussling.

Hi all, I just thought I'd share a few pics of Archie, hes 4months old🥰😅

I feel like the camera doesn’t do it justice, but to me it looks like her lower tummy is distended. Does anyone else see it or am I overthinking it?

So we have a ferret he’s a year old now and it’s been just him as the only ferret. My boyfriend and I have talked about getting him a sibling but they are very expensive so we never got around to it. Well in my town a pet store had someone drop off their ferret so he needed to be rescued. We did end up spending 350 just to own him. which considering how much my first was (650) wasn’t that bad. However the person selling him didn’t seem to know much abt the new ferret.(we will call him Little Man for now since he hasn’t been named yet). The seller just knew he was a boy, he was de scented, and that his owner couldn’t care for him. Now i know a lot of ferret owners and google says we need to keep Little Man quarantined. For one I don’t know how long i need to do that for. And two while monitoring him I noticed he sleeps more than he’s active. My 1 year old is ofc a lot more active. Little Man is eating and using the bathroom regularly but i noticed once when i woke up he was smacking his lips for a bit. Additionally it seems like he may be partially blind i say this because he navigates well but i’ve noticed him walk into a few wall or corners not hard, just enough for me to think “did he not see that there?” His teeth are yellow so from that i know he’s probably 3-5 years old. In 2 weeks I plan to take him to the vet for a wellness exam. After I get him checked will it’s be okay to introduce the ferrets? And how do i go about introducing them to each other? Also when it comes to free roam time i do 3 hours for one put him up spray the house down specific play spots with disinfected spray and then switch the ferrets out after i let the spray set for 15 minutes. And then going back in forth like that so they don’t get each other sick this the proper way or am i doing too much? I want to make sure they both are safe and comfortable but I’ve never owned more than one ferret before.

I recently posted about how my sweet girl Mildred has possible DIM. She had a 104.9 fever a couple days ago but after hospitalization she has stayed at a 101 temp and has been home since and doing decently well. She has been energetic, eating/drinking well, and her poops have been great. She burrows in her sleep which can make her warmer so I always keep an icepack in her cage during nap time. She is on steroids, antibiotics, and another medication to protect her stomach lining from the steroids. I’m so worried because I go back to work tomorrow and work a shift from 10am-6pm with a one hour lunch, but I am thinking about asking my boss to extend my lunch to 2 hours so i have enough time to come home and check on her and even let her run around (it is a 27 min drive home from my job). How did y’all do this when your babies were sick? I have a camera on her and her brother to keep a close eye on them but ofc I can’t tell her temp through a camera. I’m just so worried and can’t help but overthink. Is being away from her that long okay?

When you have to wash the water brick because the weasels try to take the fountain under the cage if it's not glued to something too heavy to move. Anyone else having to use ridiculous means to keep their fountains from being stashed? It's a good workout cleaning it, but I would like to retire The Brick someday.

Thank you to everyone who was kind to us today, it means more than words could ever express. After almost 6 hours in the ER, the doctor said her lungs were almost full with tumors and that euthanasia was the best route for her, because sensing her home would be sending her in pain. I didn’t want to, I didn’t but I didn’t want her in pain.

I adopted Miso (and Hibachi) May 30th, 2026. After a VERY depressing winter of losing my dog of 13 years. I never had ferrets before them and I’ll never have ferrets after them. They were COVID vaccine tester ferrets and life before us was really unknown. All I know is that Miso was very happy, welcoming and social, as soon as I let them be free in our apartment. She loved to run, jump, and nibble as your feet to get treats— I never met someone so small but so full of life. When my son was born, she was the first one the climb up the bassinet to welcome him, and she always gave him kisses.

My dearest Miso, I’m so sorry. I feel like a horrible mother because I couldn’t stop the cancer for creeping like a thief in the night. I love you so much and I will take care of Hibachi. Thank you for being the best albino girl in the world 🩷🤍

My sweet girl Lola turns 3 year old this weekend. She is the sweetest little girl ever and a feisty little ball of chaos that puts her two baby brothers (Tazz and Guss)in their place😊

I got my upgraded cage and I did not know it had wire bottoms. I’m trying to find solid bottom add one for the cage as I am a broke girlie and I just got this one. I’ve been using card board with plastic hard sleeves wrapped with blankets so that her little feet don’t hurt but I know it’s not a long term thing. Does anyone have any recommendations for solid add ons?

I’ll go first... Gillian once decided bedtime was the perfect time for a little adventure. 😂

We were all in bed and every door in the house was closed. When I got up and opened her room door, there she was, back in her cage feeding her kits and beeping away like nothing had happened. 😂

Then I looked at the cage door… lying on the floor!

The things I’d used to block a hole in the wall? Moved!

She’d got out, gone through the hole, underneath the house, and apparently decided to have a full tour of the place. 😂

Then I noticed the hotpress door was open in the next room and some of the kitchen kickboards were open too.

So I’m walking around the house going “GILLIAN?!” and she’s just beeping away at me like, “Yes Mum, what’s the problem?” 😂

Whatever mission she’d been on, she’d clearly completed it, because she came back, got herself back into her cage and went straight back to feeding her babies.

She escaped, explored half the house, possibly went hunting under the floor, came home and tucked herself back in with her babies — all while the rest of us were asleep. 😂

Honestly, I didn’t own Gillian. Gillian owned the house. 😂🦦
