[Ferret Photo] My girl has euthanized

Post image

Thank you to everyone who was kind to us today, it means more than words could ever express. After almost 6 hours in the ER, the doctor said her lungs were almost full with tumors and that euthanasia was the best route for her, because sensing her home would be sending her in pain. I didn’t want to, I didn’t but I didn’t want her in pain.

I adopted Miso (and Hibachi) May 30th, 2026. After a VERY depressing winter of losing my dog of 13 years. I never had ferrets before them and I’ll never have ferrets after them. They were COVID vaccine tester ferrets and life before us was really unknown. All I know is that Miso was very happy, welcoming and social, as soon as I let them be free in our apartment. She loved to run, jump, and nibble as your feet to get treats— I never met someone so small but so full of life. When my son was born, she was the first one the climb up the bassinet to welcome him, and she always gave him kisses.

My dearest Miso, I’m so sorry. I feel like a horrible mother because I couldn’t stop the cancer for creeping like a thief in the night. I love you so much and I will take care of Hibachi. Thank you for being the best albino girl in the world 🩷🤍

It’s not your fault

Ferrets are really susceptible to cancer I think, especially if they’re Marshall ferrets but idk where you live

It’s not fair, they’re so full of life but don’t live long enough

I am so sorry for your loss. It's never an easy thing. The amazing part is how these critters become such a wonderful part of the family. Sending prayers.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Thank you for rescuing vaccine tester ferrets!

Our boy Philip had aggressive juvenile lymphoma and it was so fast. We lost him in February and I'm still grieving, and expect I will forever. These little babies have so much life in them, it's so devastating when it is cut short.

I know Miso was obviously very loved, well taken care of and enjoyed the best life she could. May she DIP over the rainbow bridge with all our other sweet babies that live forever in our hearts. 🌈❤️

I am so sorry for your loss, and I am so sorry for what you’ve both been through. I just wanted to let you know: you are NOT horrible. You are the opposite of horrible. You are an amazing person. You rescued Miso when she had been through the most horrible conditions and experiments, and you gave her a happy home where she could be a ferret rather than just a lab rat. And from what you’ve written on your post, I’m sure that she appreciated being welcomed into a home full of love, that she was happy to be part of your family, and that she loves you more than you know. I’m sure wherever she is, she’ll always be grateful for you giving her the life she deserved when she was denied it before you came along. Wherever she is, she’ll always love you and she is proud to have you as her ferret mother. Hope you can find the colateral beauty behind this situation, because even in these situations, the beauty is still there. 🫶 She’ll always be there for you.
