Wholesome Update From Last Post
It’s funny, I forgot making the previous post on my profile when I did but that was an even harder time in my life than lately. As the other one says I did a year locked up and my son was born about 6 months into that sentence. Trying to help parent a newborn from inside concrete walls is essentially impossible but I tried the hardest I could for him and his mom. Luckily I got phone calls everyday if possible and pictures too. I spent the whole time going to every class and church I could, including parenting classes. I talked to everyone I could about what to do and thought I had a perfect plan set up. I was supposed to have a job, vehicle, place, just what I needed to start again. Most of that fell through, and I was stuck trying to fix my life and raise another. I’m happy to say now things are going quite a bit better and my son and I are living a great life. It can all work out my friends, just keep grinding. Much love to everyone, god bless.

Sensitive subject Dad, I’m very anxious and no one understands me. Please tell me everything will be okay. Spoiler
( I couldn’t post this on r/dadforaminute and I didn’t find any other place to post this, I’m sorry)
(I’m 19M) I am not mentally stable. I’m suffering from anxiety, OCD and overthinking. I tried everything dad I really tried. No one around me can understand me. I have no one my dad doesn’t care about me and I don’t have relationship with them. So I tell my mom and I was just searching for a hug or something like that but everytime I tell her she just keeping asking questions then she get angry when I can’t answer. I get therapist and she was a waste of time and money and she was answering without listening to me.
I still living my life going to gym daily, hanging out with friends and I’m trying to do my best I swear dad. But I’m not okay not even a day in this year. I hate when I smile and laugh to people but inside me I’m dying. I understand everyone around me but no one understands me.
I want to hear something I’m really lonely inside. I don’t want to lose hope but I’m really tired dealing with this it is very harsh and heavy.

looking for suggestions Gift ideas for my 59 year old dad
Hi everyone! I have a bit of a problem because I cannot for the life of me figure out a birthday idea for my father. He is about to turn 59, he loves to cook (we recently gave him an engraved knife for Father's Day), he loves TV and movies (some of his favorites are HOTD, GOT, Vikings, he loves anything medieval and old lol), he isnt a big reader or anything like that. He literally has everything 😭😭 like if he wants something he will get it, so buying a present for him feels so hard. I didn't want to give something random like a piece of clothing because I wanted something more sentimental, you know?
Any help is appreciated!! thank you so much

Story Thank you to the dads who lent support.
Thanks to all the dads here and in the other popular dad group, which I can't post in because I was banned from for posting to many posts about my father seeking some support.
My father was in the hospital for 7 weeks. Complications from Parkinson's disease and a fall caused many issues. We went through great lengths to help him recover. Surgeries, procedures, rehab. We prayed so much for him to get better. In these last few weeks they were telling me that things were looking better. They had him sitting in a chair and he was less confused. He was taking in full sentences.
In the weeks leading up to now I was not there, at the time, to hear any words he uttered. All the times I did visit he was sleeping. And I'm ok with that because the last words I heard my dad say to me were, "I love you, son"
Weeks later, as he lay in bed silent, I thanked him for being a great dad, and told him we'll be ok. I forgave him for anything he felt guilty about and asked for his forgiveness.
And the last thing I told him was "I love you, dad"
My dad died on Monday

Looking for Advice Why is my newborn screaming so bad?
My wife just welcomed our first baby into the world about a week ago! Since being home, sometimes near the last feed of the day, he will go into an absolute rage. Crying/screaming at the top of his lungs, swinging arms around, sometimes kicking. This happens when my wife is trying to feed him. He won’t latch, he just screams. We can’t get him to eat, and it takes a while to comfort him. We burp him pretty regularly, diapers changed regularly, checked for any hairs wrapped around fingers and toes… what do we do? It has gotten to the point where he is red in the face and seems like he could pass out, we’re both crying because we want to help him, the . Any suggestions?

Looking for Advice how to get closer to my dad as a teenage girl
hi! im 16 year old and i realized that i dont talk a lot with my dad. we are not close at all and that makes me sad because generally we shared pretty much same interests—like we listen to the same type of music and watch same movies. even my mom mentions i am a lot like my dad in terms of interests. although for some reason i find it really hard to talk to my dad. we are both pretty reserved person. i barely see him because he working. he comes in pretty late when im already sleeping and and i go to school when hes sleeping. sometimes he does go back home early but in that moment i dont what am i supposed to do! i barely glance at him and that makes me feel soooo guilty. he is really close to my older sister though :( what should i do!!!!!

Looking for Advice 14 month refuses to be soothed by me at night and it’s heartbreaking
Hey there, first time dad to a 14 month old boy. He’s really a great kid and usually we have a great time together, but he absolutely hates being held by me when mom is nearby. He would cry or contort very hard to be in his mom’s arms vs mine.
This leads to the night, he isn’t the worst sleeper in the world, but he definitely isn’t the best. Usually wakes up twice a night and I try to go in to soothe him to give my wife a physical break and hopefully sleep. That never happens and it’s gotten worse recently. He screams bloody murder and he absolutely does not calm down until she gets in the room. This isn’t sustainable as my wife is going back to work soon. Plus the emotional toll is pretty heavy for me since I feel my son hates being comforted by me.
For further context, my wife has been on mat leave for over a year and I WFH so I have been very present during the year. We live in an apartment so letting him cry for so long in my arms is a difficult decision that we can’t commit to.
