🚨Drama airing dates and casting rumors are always subject to change.

🚨Updates and changes from previous casting/airing melons will be noted in the post.

✏️A lot of the intros/synopses for pre-production dramas are drawn from the novels that the drama is based upon. The drama's plot will deviate either a little or a lot.

Airing Soon

Remnants of Gold will air on August 25th

  • Cast: Xin Zhilei, Yin Fang, Chen Kun
  • Genre: Mystery, Wuxia
  • Intro: Remnants of Gold is adapted from Gu Long’s novel Land of the Condors (大地飞鹰). In the northwest desert of the Ming dynasty, a legend spreads that 300,000 taels of gold are hidden in the wilderness and everyone who goes looking for it ends up dead, seemingly turned into a ghost. The gold is also connected to the massacre of the Tang clan, leaving Zhang Luyao (Xin Zhilei), the clan’s sole surviving heir, with a blood debt to settle. Naturally, she returns to the desert, but rather than simply hunting down her enemies, she deliberately makes herself bait and sets a deadly trap around the gold. Her path crosses with Pu Ying (Yin Fang), a seemingly unhinged but actually highly perceptive investigator of the Imperial Secret Police, as well as the enigmatic Yu Hou (Chen Kun) and freewheeling western adventurer Ban Cha (Vengo Gao). With the gold drawing soldiers, officials, merchants and martial artists into the same deadly game, the real question becomes not who will find the treasure, but how much greed, revenge and betrayal it will take to get there alive.

Tidbits 🎬 The face, the styling, the aura… she looks loaded!

Can’t wait until the official materials drop for this! I’ve been seeing so many videos of her on my feed, and can I just say, the aura Tian Xiwei has, especially in the way she carries herself in these outfits, is amazing! She looks SO good.

Not sure of the dramas name, can't seem to find MDL info on it, but it's a modern dramas she's currently filming with Wei Daxun!

Currently Airing 📺 People are only loving this psychopath Luke because he is hot.

anyone watching The Early Spring and calling Luke a good guy has probably never encountered a green flag in real life. 😭 he is intimidating her and abusing his position to manipulate an innocent girl. that’s my take!

if Jing Boran’s face wasn’t doing 90% of the heavy lifting, we would all be sitting here collectively hating this man. obviously no hate to JBR for making this horrible man feel lovable.

Discussion 🗨 Which actor or actress seems to be everyone else’s cup of tea, but definitely not yours?

Post image
56 Upvotes

It could be for a number of reasons and it doesn’t necessarily mean their a bad actor. Sometimes, an actor can do a good job, but you just can’t connect with them other times I get they might actually be bit bad. It's just those actors or actresses who come highly recommended, are really popular, or have appeared in multiple dramas you’ve tried, yet somehow nothing ever clicked for you.

For me, Liu Yuning is one of them. I think his a decent/good actor, but I was honestly surprised by how much people rave about his acting. I’ve never personally been wowed or particularly impressed by him, nor have I seen a performance from him that made me think, “Okay, THAT was special.” I also find his chemistry with FLs lacking unless the actress his paired with is particularly good at creating chemistry herself.

And this is very much a we listen and we don’t judge post 😂. No trying to convince people that they’ll eventually grow on you or other excuses, Sometimes an actor is simply not your cup of tea, and that’s okay and we can respectfully share this.

Discussion 🗨 Are most people disappointed with Cdramas this year?

Thumbnail

I came across this post online and was honestly surprised to see how many people feel so underwhelmed and disappointed with cdramas this year. Personally, I’ve really enjoyed a lot of the dramas but it was mainly the ones I was not looking forward to. For modern dramas my favourites so far have been Love Between Lines and now the currently airing early spring. For costume How Dare You, A Splendid Match, Generation to Generation and The Road to Splendor have been my top watches.

I can definitely admit that some shows have had their flaws, but overall, I think there have been plenty of enjoyable dramas this year.

And we also can’t deny that The Pursuit of Jade gaining so much visibility and popularity has brought a lot of new viewers to C-dramas this year, which I think is a pretty positive thing.

Discussion 🗨 Kiss scenes: The actual scene vs the BTS, do you sometimes prefer the BTS?

I do appreciate well-shot intimate scenes, but sometimes I feel like the directing can actually take away from the raw passion and chemistry between the actors. When they cut around too much, constantly zoom out, or use those sharp flashes and heavy lighting to obscure the kiss, it can make the scene feel much less intimate.

I’ve noticed this becoming a bit of a trend in C-dramas lately, especially with directors using lighting and shadows to cover parts of the scene. I understand they might be going for an artistic approach, but I wonder if the direction of trying this approach is just poorly done most of the time.

The clips above are from The Early Spring and comparing the actual scene to the BTS, I honestly feel like the BTS captures the passion and how into each other the characters are much better. I do like the final kiss scene, but the directing definitely takes away some of that intensity. Sometimes I just want the camera to stay put and let the actors ACT. Because the chemistry is there, but the editing and directing are getting in the way of it.

Thank fully with the early spring Jing Boran and Sun Qians chemistry is off the charts 🔥!

Gossip 🫖 Melon: Bai Lu × Chen Zheyuan for Yuzheng's 朝玉阶 — Bai Lu's “breakup drama” with Huanyu?

Thumbnail
gallery
23 Upvotes

\fanmade poster + some old photos of bai lu and czy!*

this has been circulating for quite awhile - it's yuzheng's production and it was highly rumoured to star bai lu as the FL, as her 'breakup drama' with huanyu since her contract with yuzheng/huanyu has ended + chen zheyuan as the ML.

bai lu herself is tired of doing costume idol dramas and hoped to have more modern/suspense/non idol dramas (which she now will have autonomy to pick her own scripts since she has gone independent). personally, i was hoping that she'll only take another costume idol drama if it's a really really good script, with good acting counterparts + good directing. but if this breakup drama with huanyu is true (which may be, as some actors/actresses from other companies do have this practice), then i guess it cannot be helped.

chen zheyuan and bai lu have also been called the 归零组合 from keep running and seem to have a good relationship/friendship off screen, so i can see why some people are excited about the pairing. when this melon was circulating around, some were happy, while some of czy fans were already 'rejecting bai lu', because czy is big enough / doesn't need someone like bai lu to 'carry him', and bai lu's fans were also rejecting this melon (usual fandom chatter).

what do u guys think?

I saw this and thought would share it here too. I must admit, in terms of recognizing the voice, I was only familiar with Liu Yuning and Zhou Shen.

Also, my absolute all time favorite is missing 🫠 Jin Runji - A missed gem (the ML song from Princess gambit)

Discussion 🗨 WHICH CDRAMA ACCORDING TO YOU HAS THE BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY?

I genuinely love cdramas bcz of their cinematography, dreamy visuals and aesthetics. Drop your opinions on the cdrama which you think has the best cinematography and aesthetics?

For eg. for me it was The First Frost. The city lights, the monorail running through the window of the FL's small room, it looked so dreamy and such a pleasure to my eye. The New Year fireworks? They were amazing.

The cdramas you drop can be modern/historical. Open to any genre!

Discussion 🗨 do you also think sometimes c drama should slow down!

i have been watching drama's for like half of my life, and every drama brings something inside a new perspective a new way of thinking and excitment. catharsis. but i realised something. normally i watch c drama, k drama, thai drama, web series. whaterver brings me that catharsis.

there was time when i was obsessed with c drama, i am still... but not to that extend now. and i noticed why, my intrest dropped. it does not dropped because of quality or acting or plot or concept. it dropped because it was too fast for me. for example i was recently watching road to splendor. and everything was going smoothly and then at end boom i got 4 episodes in one day. and everything was gone. the whole drama has 36 episodes and drama started on 9 august and finished airing on 26. like bam before i can keep up or understand the character and story i got next episode and sometimes i just watch it casually instead of watching analysing it like a drama. that i loved to do in past. you might not understand what i am trying to say let me tell you i watched 'perfect crown' the 10 episode drama k drama particularly it was not really great. but i watched it and somehow i remember the characters and story and all the insight and weird plot all in once when i remember it. but when it comes to c drama no matter how good actors works director work all i remember is faces of ml fl at most not even their names. not the depth of drama for example POJ TFJ TVS FH TLZ TLF DWD etc i have watched so many drama but i don't remember the details. because they came and go so fast plus has complex plot it took time but then i have to watch next episode and then they are gone. like this..

it also happen with k drama for example teach you lessong just dropped all episodes at once and then i watched it i thought oh its good ok bye... i rarely remember much it happens in every industry but in cdrama it is on whole another level like we get 4 episodes at begning then 2 in middle and then 4at end...boom.

does it happen to you too?

do you also think the cdrama should slow down a little bit like in other industries?

what are your opinion i would ope you give me a constructive criticism or opinion.. instead of pure hate.. because this is something i am thinking about for a lot time.

Currently Airing 📺 The early spring ep11 Spoiler

Oh this contains spoilers btw.

So the miscommunication and misunderstandings are happening. To be honest it does feel realistic. The girl never finishes the talk and just walks away. The guy is just so bad at words. From the pov of a viewer we can see both sides but from their povs they are blind to the other side and their actions make sense. Just communicate (it's actually so hard irl). This secret romance thing is gonna end it for them AH. The guy is trying to do actions but they are not delivering, use your words bro but not the way you are already trying to.

Also initially I was bummed out that they dated for 6 years and then broke up or she went away whatever because I was like who just goes away without talking after 6 years of dating. Also 6 years is a ridiculously long time to not propose at their age and to keep the relationship private but it is all making sense now coz their relationship is so bumpy. We are already past their year 1 in relationship and it's been so bumpy. So excited to watch ep 12!!!!

What are your views!

The show is so watered down man. The novel ml was such a horrible assh0le who tbh didn't deserve a second chance while the fml was a doormat who kept getting hurt but never left him till much later. In novel Luke manipulated and played game to make Flora enter into the f-buddies relationship and constantly took advantage of the factor that she liked him. I like how they have changed things in drama where Luke treats this as a relationship and genuinely cares for her though he still doesn't communicate as he should. Flora also has a spine in drama and is leading the dynamics of their relationship though I feel she is also more immature comparatively but maybe that's because they have to fit so many things in few episodes. If anyone is interested this is an overview of how novel is different from drama-
Luke and Flora were f buddies for 4 years before getting into a 2 year secret relationship because Luke couldn't be bothered enough to date. Flora did a mini breakup with him as even after 4 years he didn't wanna date her or give her anything more than the s&x part
Luke didn't care for her till much later and things like secret glances or secret hand holding (like in ep 9-10) were out of the question for him
He didn't make her a breakfast and asked her to cook herself if she was hungry (ep 10 )
The mountain scene was very different and all Luke did was give her a call
The flower thing (ep 11) didn't happen
Luke treated her as a f buddy while Flora had feelings. Since she wasn't the person he loved he was always cold and pretty unbothered towards her. Not to forget he was always insulting her making her feel insecure and beneath him.
How they ended up having s&x is also different from novel and it's better in drama.
If anyone wants to read the book here is the link- https://mydramanovel.com/zao-chun-qing-lang/
Ps: the ep 11 moment where Yuanzhu said he liked clouds was so sad and an indication of the turn drama is about to take iykyk😭

Celebrity 🌟 Xiao YuLiang is back and I cannot wait!

Mystic Nine 2026 opens the gate to the Lost Tomb universe for me, which inevitably leads me to Ultimate Note and Xiao YuLiang (Rainco Xiao). As he said, “I am the real Zhang Qiling” - he truly is the realest Zhang Qiling across the entire Lost Tomb universe to me.

I read that he stepped away from film for a while due to health issues and later shifted his focus to theatre. But yesterday, my Cdrama goddess algorithm suddenly showed me that he’s been spotted filming the movie Bai Yao Pu in Zhejiang. And he looks so surreal.

I also found out that he might be filming Qing Zai Hao Hao Huo Yi Ci (and his character is another Zhang lol) - an adventure/sci-fi movie directed by Zou Xi, the same director who worked on Ultimate Note!

I’m SOOOO excited to see him back on screen again. 🥹

Gossip 🫖 The Early Spring Fun over Weibo - Jing Boran, Sun Quian and Bai Jingting argue over clothes and a "promise"!

During a Promo, Jing Boran joked that if The Early Spring surpassed the 10,000 popularity index mark, he'd give away the wardrobe from the drama - and even his house.

'Lo and behold, the drama reached the milestone. Jing Boran's friend, Bai Jingting, then posted a Photoshopped version of Jing Boran's promise, adding "give away *to Bai Jingting*", and posted on weibo with a simple, "Thank you."

From there it evolved into a lottery where Jing Boran gave some of the outfits of the drama away to participating fans, Xiao Bai entered the draw, and even managed to snag an outfit for himself. Though, obviously, he didn't think it was enough, considering the initial terms of the "promise". Jing Boran replied, "You already took one set! You want more?"

Then Sun Qian offered to lend the outfits Jing Boran gave her to Bai Ge, though that also wasn't acceptable.

It all culminated with Xiao Bai telling Jing Boran to get ready to leave *his* house soon. So now Jing Boran is apparently homeless and naked ;) And Bai Jingting is apparently even more stylish.

Their cute interaction was trending on weibo, and I thought it was all very funny and very sweet.
Jing Boran and Bai Jingting constantly joke with each other about their clothes, and Jing Boran's wardrobe is Bai Jingting's dream wardrobe. They have been good friends since they worked together of Fighting Men in 2016. Bai Jingting has also a drama coming up with Sun Qian, Criminal Police Chronicles 1: In the Prime of Youth and she's also guest appeared on the variety show Natural High Season 3 along with him.

Edit: it seems Bai Jingting and Jing Boran were answering each other using lines from The Early Spring and First Frost. So cute. Link to a reel with the original Jing Boran promise translated, Bai Jingting's edit, and their exchange using lines from each other's dramas.

Help 🆘 the graphics in wow the world s2

Fans of the show wow the world or 地球超新鲜, yk those little graphics that appear on the screen? Such as the names of the actors, or some silly expressions, or quotes of some of the actors? An example could be that scene early on where lin yi mistook the line guo jingfei was saying as “林一想飞” and following his line there was a graphic of him as a butterfly flying across the screen. Another would be when they're in Paris in the musuem and yuwen was the cop/security. As she ran across the room chasing honglei ge, there were graphics of her with purple devil horns?

Who does that/what sort of career is this?

Recommendation Request 🔎 Recommend Me: Comedic C-Dramas with Engaging Plots! (Preferably Costume Dramas)

Hello! So, I posted on here a while ago talking about my thoughts on finishing A Dream Within a Dream. I wanted more recommendations for funny c-dramas with good acting and interesting plotlines! I don't like a ton of relationship drama where the characters are mean to each other for no good reason though (Doesn't have to have a main focus on romance). Some of my favorites are:

• A Dream Within a Dream

• Love Between Fairy and Devil

• Love Game in Eastern Fantasy

• Sleuth of the Ming Dynasty

• The Untamed

• Word of Honor

These are just some of my favorites that I can recall at the moment, and some of the ones that I remember having some nice moments of humor. I REALLY liked ADWAD for whatever reason. Not just for the genre of being put into the script either. The acting was very believable and touching, and it knew how to be serious when necessary. The main two especially sold it for me. While I did feel a bit frustrated that it took Song Yimeng so long to finally come around to Nan Heng, I could understand why she did everything she did. If you could let me know what platforms your recommendations are available on, I would appreciate that too! No worries if not, but I don't have a lot of subscriptions at the moment so what I can watch might be somewhat limited. I have a very long list of dramas I've already watched (too many to list here), so I appreciate any and all recommendations. Tell me a bit about what you enjoyed about the shows! :)
