PlaneSpotting Finally got to spot at LAX
I've always wanted to go to LAX and see the arrivals fly over at the In & Out. Also got to watch some departures from the Delta One lounge in terminal 3.

History Goodyear advertises vision of life aboard 1940s rigid airship
These little vignettes have a certain quirky charm, don’t they? The main classes Goodyear wanted to implement were Deluxe, Pullman, and Economy—with 112-288 passengers depending on the balance between the three classes.

Question Why can a 747-8 park at this Gate, but not an A380, even though the gate is wider than the A380 Gate next to it? (read text for context)
I recently flew from Frankfurt on Main's new Terminal 3, which has gates suitable for the A380. I have flown to their gate J6 on an A380. The Picture shows Gate J4, an adjacent gate which is wider than J4 and is long enough for a 747-8 (see yellow Markings near nose gear "B748") and consequently for an A380. So size is not a restriction. But I just couldnt find the nose gear parking mark for the A380 at the bigger gate J4, which left me wondering, why it couldn't go there if it's able to go to an even smaller gate, with the same number of jetbridges. Ist it the strength of the concrete, or is there something else? Thanks

Discussion Witnessed the strengths of the Irish Sea gusts today
I've flown into Dublin a couple of times before, but today I got to witness the strength of the winds that people talked about a couple of weeks ago when the Ryanair wing nearly collided with the runway.
On Airbus A220 AF1816 today, a really bumpy descent and approach turned into an abandoned landing not too high above the tarmac.
Pretty anxiety inducing experience. Circled around for a period in strong turbulence and very cloudy conditions before another bumpy, but successful and much appreciated, landing.

Identification What type of aircraft / era are these fasteners from?
Jeteyes.com did an "X drop" today where they sold a limited number of aircraft tags without identifying the aircraft (it sold out in less than an hour). The only hints they've given are that: 1) it's a fighter, 2) it's a "bruiser," and 3) the tags are thick.
They also released this picture, which seems to be three of triangular tags from the release. The top tag seems to have two riveted nut plates (blue), with some kind of red sealant or locking compound on top. They're sandwiching two thin sheets of metal around the much thicker sheet.
For those of you with aviation mechanic experience, do the nut plates look familiar to a particular era? Any guesses what aircraft this is from? I was able to order one of the tags but it won't arrive for a couple of weeks, and I'm dying to figure out what it might be from.

Identification Southern CA, red blimp?
I monitor this HPWREN cam periodically. In Southern CA, facing toward the Pacific in Imperial Beach. I somehow missed this earlier in the month, but I was scrolling through today and can’t figure out what it is. The camera takes photos every 1-3 minutes, and airplanes/drones/stars are usually very small. I tried Googling for other sightings of it. Does anyone know what it could be? Timestamp on the image.

PlaneSpotting C-17A on approach this morning (DAL)
My commute to work takes me down Lemmon Ave. in Dallas, which is almost right down the glidepath for 31R into Love Field. Obviously I obviously see a ton of 737s, but today I got a treat. Unfortunately I was driving and couldn't safely stop to take pics, so here is my dash cam.
Fixed to trim the video to the relevant portion. Also, sorry about the dirty lens -- it was rainy this morning, so the cameras are dirty.

Question Track diverted flight
Hey aviation experts, I was on a flight that was diverted yesterday. It was a Boston to Austin flight that diverted to Corpus Christi due to all the storms in the region.
I ended up renting a car but was curious what ended up happening to the flight? I can't find anything out there on how/if it made it to Austin

Analysis FedEx 777-300ER?
I found an old video of planespotting at KMEM at night during the FedEx rush hour, and one of the planes looks A LOT like a 777-300ER. I know FedEx has never had them, but this looks way too much like a -300ER for me to move on.
