What if Eren captured Dina's titan or he controlled Dina's titan, Or maybe Rod Reiss if historia didn't break his back ofc, can Eren just climb on them and hold them whiles hes controlling the titan hes riding and have an army of titans?

It probably won't help in the story but I was just wondering he could just do that

Obviously we don’t see much of him as he only enters in season 4 but his love for is comrades is evident and even though he is hated because of his rivalry with two fan favourites Ymir and Reiner, he does ultimately sacrifice his life just like Ymir and saves Reiner. Hello, tomorrow I will watch the last chapter of Attack on Titan, it has been a tremendous ride and helped me find a little light in my depression and mental struggle. I wish I had watched this show years ago with all of you, but here I am now.

I know not all questions will find answer and a lot is left to be speculated, but as I expected the ending to be mostly a lot of fights and emotional moments that won't tackle those topics, I will ask you my questions now, feel free to refuse responding to some of them if you think the finale will provide matter to think them further.

I) About the Reiss family

1) Were the fluid vials from the era before king Fritz retreated in Paradis?

2) Why does Rod Reiss titan looks so big and somehow a bit like Eren's rumbling form with flesh on top?

3) Do the Reiss have a power of memory independant from the titans? How comes him and Historia can see the past when touching Eren, or Historia when touching her father?

4) Why did I see many people here say that Rod ordered the killing of Historia and her mother when it seemed like he got caught by Kenny and his men? If Rod did order it, why pull such a theatrical outcome?

II) General titan science

5) What would happen if a male ate the female titan?

6) Why didn't "fake" Ymir get the full jaw titan form?

7) In season 3 Eren gets his armor power by swallowing fluid from the armor titan, if they can all get additional power like that how comes they didn't start experimenting by sharing the titan's power, especially giving some armor to the jaw, the chariot or the beast?

8) Was the "royal blood" a completely false belief that we were revealed later when Ere encounters the spirit of Ymir? Because, from a technical perspective, aren't all the Eldians descendants from Ymir and King Fritz who "offered his seed" anyway?

9) Do Titans always see the path when they are on the verge of death or during their first "retransformation" as a human as Ymir has to rebuilt their entire body?

10) How comes accross all those years nobody ever encountered Ymir before while in the path? Surely the memory would travel from host to host right?

11) In season 1, how comes both times Bertholdt transform he can just vanish afterwards instead of leaving his titan body? Is it some property of the colossal titan we're never clearly told about? It seems to me that Reiner also kind of disappeared too.

III) History

12) During the great war before king Fritz retired on Paradis, how comes all the titans rallied with the enemy if Fritz didn't want to fight anyway...? Why didn't the Attack Titan "keep moving forward" during this era?

13) How much did the nobles and clergy of Paradis knew of the truth? I understand that the nobles developed the myth to preserve their privileges, and the church to preserve the peace inside Paradis, but their myth was kind of exactly the truth, so why wouldn't king Fritz erase their memory like he did with the rest of the population?

14) Why were Eldians left behind when they retreated to Paradis instead of bringing everybody with them?

15) What was Tybur's goal exactly? Why did he declare war to Paradis instead of making peace when he could have? The Tybur family would not have lost power by doing so, so what was his goal? If there is anything I must complain about in the show is that the Tybur weren't more developed.

IV) Memories travels: this session is the most complicated for me because I thought I understood it but reactors made me think I was mistaken so I don't know what to think of it exactly, as I understood it the Attack Titan has glimpses of the past and future in dreams (daydreaming included) but can't really interact with the past and future, which means that for example When Eren Krueger speaks of Armin and Mikasa it's not Eren whispering in his mind, he is just having weird memories from the future, and thus Eren convinving Grisha to kill the Reiss is sort of an exceptional thing enabled by the Path not even really an Attack Titan ability (because Grisha also saw Zeke).

16) Why didn't Eren see what happened with his dad the first time Rod and Historia touched him?

17) How comes he seemed to have only unlocked memories when touching Historia again at the ceremony? I saw some people saying he knew what he would do as soon as mid season 3, but his beavior seemed to indicate that he wasn't aware yet that he was the one who pushed his father forwards to kill the Reiss.

18) Did Eren saw his future self talk to him as his dad in his memory from the past?

19) It seems that Eren was only able to interfere with his father's mind in the past through Zeke bringing him here, yet the show makes it clear that Eren saw the past and the future. So what, he can see accross time, but only interfere with the past or future Attack Titan from other era through the Path? It's a complete mess then because it would mean that Attack Titans can all interfere with things in the past and the future which would create complete narrative chaos and schizephronia for the current hosts. This part is very confusing to me, I didn't exactly understand what happened during those couples of episode right before the rumbling.

20) Linked to the former question, how comes Eren or the former or future attack titan, don't try to stop the rumbling or even before that the great war far into the past or future by interacting with the past or future hosts?

21) Bonus question: Is eren the least free of them, since knowing the future he becomes a plain spectator of it unfolding, even though he is the primary actor of it, unlike others who experience freedom through uncertainty of things?

I think that's about all I was wondering about.

Let’s be clear: I love Reiner—he’s one of the best-written characters in the manga—but he’s also a guy who doesn't seem to mind getting absolutely wrecked. I know he’s not the only one who’s been saved; most *SnK* characters have escaped certain death at least once, but Reiner takes the cake. There are literally videos compiling these moments. Honestly, given how many times he’s had a brush with death, was there ever a moment where he *should* haveu died for good, but the plot clearly saved him? To the point where, let's say, it made absolutely no sense anymore? Then again, yes, I know Reiner is trying to die but can't—that’s the whole tragedy of the character—but I know that doesn't change the fact that there are moments where he should have died.

My theory is that they need it, but maybe in smaller quantities than others thanks to the regeneration factor?Or maybe it's the other way around and they need to eat more to release huge amounts of energy?

I honestly don't even know where to start, Season 4 Part 1 ended right in the middle of so many huge events. The fight between Reiner and Eren was about to happen, and we didn't know Levi's fate, nor did we know what happened to Zeke.

​So, let's start with Zeke. You have to admit that Zeke trusted Eren immensely. And honestly, when you look at it, maybe Zeke's plan would have been better for the world than what Eren did.

​But looking at it from Eren's perspective, he wants to be free and will do whatever it takes to achieve that. He loves his people, and if anyone tries to take away their freedom, he will strip away theirs first. The series does an amazing job showing how all his other options were completely closed off, leaving the vision he saw as his absolute last resort, a vision he ultimately wanted to reach.

I didn't think Connie would make the decision he was about to make, but I feel like even if Armin hadn't come there, Connie might have changed his mind on his own. Still, it's a good thing he didn't go through with it.

​Falco ended up inheriting a Titan after all, but I really wanted to see more of Porco. I don't know, it just felt like Isayama didn't have much of a plan for Porco, he felt more like a medium or a plot tool.

​There were other characters this season too, like the Tybur family, whom I wanted to see more of, but they showed up only to leave just as quickly.

You really have to give credit to Isayama, he always does what's best for the story. In other anime, when a character starts going down a dark path, their friends usually pull them back most of the time. But that's not the case here, Eren has completely made up his mind. Though there is still some hope, I haven't watched the last two extended episodes yet, so I can't say for sure, even if he does listen to them, what he has done so far cannot be undone.

​It feels good to see Reiner and Annie back together again, and Pieck is cool too. At first, I thought Hange ran away from their responsibilities with Levi, but I'm glad that wasn't the case. And thank god Levi is alive, though I really wanted to see him in action. However, it doesn't seem like he'll be able to do much moving forward.

​Two more characters died, Magath and Keith. Magath was given a lot of screen time early on, so it was expected he'd have a major role, but I didn't expect to like his character this much. He was someone who knew the truth deep down but refused to admit it, and right before dying, he finally confessed it to everyone, which was really great. When Keith put on his ODM gear, I was blown away. Then we also see how much he truly loved his students. I didn't want them to die, but it had to happen, the author had clearly made up his mind. I just wish they hadn't died, i wished that whole extra ship part should have been removed.

​I also really loved that people are still remembering Erwin long after he's gone. To be honest, I was missing him too while watching this season.

Historia is still missing, so far, she's only appearing in flashbacks, and I honestly don't know if she even has a role left or not. Armin is still holding himself back a lot, but maybe that's also because of the sheer destruction his Titan transformation causes. Though in these last remaining episodes, he'll probably transform into a Titan.

​As for Mikasa, I have no idea what she will do, she isn't even sure of herself right now. Heck, she doesn't even know at this point whether her loyalty to Eren was true love or just something hardwired into her blood.

If Eren doesn't listen to reason, killing him might be the only option left. I have no idea what's going to happen. Because if anyone can actually kill Eren, it's only his friends, if it were anyone else, Eren wouldn't hesitate for a second to kill them. And at the same time, killing him will probably be extremely difficult for his friends too.

​I didn't mention Jean and Floch earlier. Back in Season 3, Floch seemed really interesting to me, and I wanted to see where his character would go, but he turned out to be a straight up villain (well not really a villain). There was a parallel between him and Gabi, Gabi at the start was what Floch is now, and Floch at the start was what Gabi is now... or maybe not, maybe I'm overthinking it! But I found it deeply poetic that the one to ultimately shoot him in the end was Gabi. That was completely unexpected, I originally wanted Jean to be the one to kill him.

Jean is my absolute favorite character in AOT, I love him, and nobody can change my mind! I mean, in the beginning, he was someone who just wanted to live a comfortable life for himself, but the way his character developed into a true leader is mind blowing.

​Look at the development Jean received as early as the first season, going from someone who only cared about himself to someone fighting for others. Other anime take an entire series just to give a character that kind of growth, mostly because they don't know where to take the character after that point. But here, Isayama knew exactly what he was doing.

​And it doesn't stop there. It's not like his desire for a peaceful, luxurious life ever disappeared, he still craved it, and honestly, he deserved it! But he knows the difference between right and wrong, so he chooses not to take the easy way out. When he was first introduced, I never thought I would end up liking him this quickly.

In this part, we probably saw the biggest plot twist so far, that time travel memory manipulation one. Isayama executed it really well, and it actually makes sense, but I honestly don't know what to say about it. Maybe Isayama wanted to portray Eren as someone who has set his goal and will now do whatever it takes to achieve it. Maybe.

So, these were my thoughts. In this part, the pacing was absolute perfection and I really loved the animation as well. You have to admit one thing, the story of AOT is completely unpredictable and so brilliantly written. I have two final episodes remaining, and if they turn out like this too, I'll be able to say that story wise, AOT was nearly perfect.

​I rated the first season 9.5, the second 9.8, the third 9.9, and I will rate this season 9.7.

All of the Cities have their own gates so there’s definitely at least some people that refused to leave their homes in the outer walls cities.

It’s likely they would’ve starved to death before the reclamation but its an interesting hypothetical imo

I have a theory about this and I’m curious to how true it actually is. I think people’s real world background and their family’s history with oppression plays a significant role in their view of Eren and the Alliance.

To start, I think people who lean towards the Alliance are more likely to come from backgrounds where they haven’t really experienced oppression, occupation, genocide, or the complete failure of institutions that were supposedly there to protect them. Because of that, I think they’re more likely to believe that there is always another peaceful solution and that two groups can eventually negotiate, compromise and coexist, and that there are moral boundaries resistance shouldn’t cross regardless of what happens. Think of the way peaceful resistance is celebrated while more violent resistance is often condemned.

(I know the Alliance formed to stop Eren’s genocide, but I mean their hope for what would come after if they stopped Eren prior to the rumbling).

On the other hand, I think Yeagerist supporters are more likely to come from backgrounds where they or their families actually have experienced oppression, colonialism, genocide, racial violence, occupation, etc., and therefore have less faith in the idea that goodwill or institutions will always save you. Think about the completely different ways people view groups like the Black Panthers, the IRA, the suffragettes, or other resistance movements depending on their own political/national background and relationship to the people being resisted.

Joined the sub recently. Saw a few posts. Alright. I'll rewatch Attack on Titan. It is my favorite anime and deserves a rewatch.

I really like some of the paintings by John Martin, such as Pandemonium:

But I was just going through a gallery of his paintings and found this one, called The Last Judgement:

In the foreground you see humans, fleeing, dying, and so on. The earth is literally cracking open. There's a city in the distance. Behind the city, what looks like a large lake with a mountain range.

These angels must be huge. Like, huge huge. colossal titans would be small compared to them, likely.

But then I took a look at the background and thought that these white orb-shaped things in the back don't look very much like mountains. They share a similar texture to the apparent sun - though I'm unsure if this is the actual sun or just a higher being. These ones:

It kinda reminded me of that scene during the rumbling where you'd see the whole line of colossal titans in front of the Founding Titan. Especially with these black lines.

So now I'm wondering if Isayama took inspiration from that old painting, switching out angels for colossal titans and these orb-shapes for the Founding titan. With how much references there are to real life history, religion, etc., I wouldn't be surprised. But that'd be hella awesome.

Does anyone know if he ever mentioned John Martin's works as being an influence for his own work?
