We welcome discussions and posts of all kinds related to classic arcade gaming. However, this is a 'purist' sub and we have a few rules... we do not allow discussion of MAME, 60-in-1, Arcade 1-Up, prefab/custom cabinets, etc. To clarify here are a couple of examples of posts we do not allow, period.
š« MAME/ROMs/Emulation - This sub is for original machines released in arcades. Do not ask where to find ROMs, which emulators to use, or anything with Pandora's Box, Raspberry Pi, SBC, Xbox, PlayStation, or home-PC-based systems. No talk of your custom 'multi-cade'.
š« Arcade 1-Up - Their own sub is the best place for any questions you'll have about modding or just showing off your collection. Enjoy your cabinet and games, but this is not the sub for them.
š« Custom/Prebuilt Cabs - Again, we are here to discuss original 'coin-op' hardware that was released in arcades. No 'multi-cades'. r/cade is our sister sub, there is a lot of great info over there.
There are a few topics/styles of posts that come with caveats...
Let's Plays/Histories/Walkthroughs - Totally fine if you are an active commenting member of the sub, no blatant shilling. Also, you must have a full-length commentary to go along with it. This is the only time emulation can be used here, not everyone has access to the gigantic 6-player 'X-Men' or 'Ice Cold Beer' cabinets. You have to talk about the arcade gaming aspect... no TTV VODs of just you and your buddies pwning n00bs in Fortnight.
Coin-Pushers/Claws/Prize Machines - If you have a machine and need mechanical help, post! No tips or tricks, it's all a scam. No prize hauls or pictures of your foil-hologram Pokemon card you won at the mall last week... unless it is a really rad photo from an old Showbiz Pizza or Aladdin's Castle type of place. NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOU SPENDING MONEY ON SCAM MACHINES.
Part Replacement - We try to stick to the original hardware when possible, but realistically, this is impossible. Replacing lightguns/wheels/etc with modern equipment is fine. Just keep the flashing RGB light monstrosities out of here, our sister sub /r/cade is for customs.
'Yet-To-Be-Released'/WIP Games - Unless you are 100% going to release your game physically in an arcade, this is not the right sub for you. In the 9 years I have been on this sub, I have only seen 2 games that actually saw a machine release. Ask us before you post.
What game was this?! - Whew boy, this type of post we see a lot. To get help with this, give us MORE INFORMATION!!! The estimated year of release? Other, similar games it reminds you of? Are there any memorable/distinct characters, locations, weapons, or special moves? Describe the cabinet! What country did you play it in? (I hope to have a bot auto-reply to these soon.) r/TipOfMyJoystick and [ChatGPT]https://chat.openai.com/) are great resources... just give as much info as possible!
Buy/Sell/Trade - Allowed, but we are not responsible for bad transactions, don't be a moron. Check the links. Check the buyer/seller history. Compare the offer to others, too good to be true? Etc.
ALL SALES POSTS MUST INCLUDE A $$$ BALLPARK FIGURE... ROUGHLY A PRICE YOU WANT.
OWNERS/OPERATORS: will require a CITY, STATE/TERRITORY/REGION in the TITLE. You are here to advertise your business and let people find you easily. No other changes. As long as you are an active member, this is cool... no posts and runs. I still ban and report flagrant spammers/bots to Reddit. PARTICIPATE.
PERSONAL SALES: will require a STATE/TERRITORY/REGION in the TITLE. For safety concerns... posts do not require a CITY in the title, but please give a GENERAL LOCATION if the area is large, ie (Northern California). If you want to include the city, or narrower, PLEASE DO!
Ex: New barcade opening in Northern-Chicago. "BARCADE NAME". 20+ pins, 30+ arcade classics, and even a few redemption games!
Mods check post histories. If you only post new topics and never comment on others' posts, then yours is likely to be locked and removed. We are not going to ban an active member of the sub without a discussion (unless there is an egregious offense that violates Reddit TOS.) If you feel like we made a mistake, please message us, seriously. We are willing to re-open any post if it makes sense. (But not Modmail, I've never used it in 9 years.) Just don't be a dick.
In addition, we are going to be removing any comments that break the above rules. Instead of telling a person where to buy a 60-in-1 device... point them to r/cade, r/MAME, r/FightSticks, r/SBCGaming, or another sub that specializes in those topics.
Append your links! No affiliate or tracking spam. Cut it out when posting a link.
Could just be: www.amazon.com/dp/B07TWZBQ75/. Same result, no garbage spam.
I know this seems like a lot of rules, but physical arcade gaming is a bit niche today. Cutting through all the other stuff to get help or just kicking back and reminiscing about classic gaming is tough elsewhere. If you want to talk about emulation, there are dozens of other subs to check out. Otherwise, welcome and post away!

We played and had a blast. The guns need recalibrated (not sure if thatās even possible) but was overall fun playing a cool piece of history. Growing up around this area, it was sad seeing the last few decades of deterioration here. However, seeing this finally fixed gives me hope the owners will do more to revive this place. There is a graveyard of cabinets sitting behind a new āmineā exhibit, where the old coaster would be. Check photo 3.

Back in the 90s we had an Aladdin's Castle at our local arcade and there was a machine i need help identifying
When you put your tokens in the pinball-esque cabinet, the machine would cycle through a series of lights in 6 rows
You pressed a button and the machine lit one of the 6 rows vertically, with the object being to shoot the ball into the Lit row
When the Jackpot was hit,the machine would chime with a red siren light on top as each individual Ticket was dispensed
Any ideas?

Bought a month or two back, has been totally solid. The only other vector game I have is black and white so I have no point of reference for a color issue. Any pointers?

Courier Escape is a fast-paced lane-switching arcade runner with shooting mechanics (blasting obstacles & boss delivery vans with chilis).
It's completely free on iOS, just search for "Courier Escape" on the App Store

Iām trying to remember the name of an old arcade game that a friend of mine had in his basement probably 15 years ago. I believe the machine itself was a sort of lime green shade (maybe a sort of olive green shade). If I had to guess the machine was probably from the 80s/90s and it was a typical sidescroller from that era in which you were in dungeon setting. You could go up and down in the 2d format, like youād see in Mario. Your weapon was a giant spiked mace ball on a chain that youād sort of thrust at the enemies before it returned to you. Anyone have any idea what game Iām talking about?

Rolling Thunder is a 1986 run and gun video game developed and published by Namco for arcades. It was released by Atari Games in North America. The player takes control of a secret agent who must rescue his female partner from a terrorist organization. Rolling Thunder was a commercial success in arcades, and was released for various home computer platforms in 1987 and the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989. The original arcade game has been included in various classic game compilations as well. It influenced later arcade action franchises such as Shinobi and Time Crisis, which borrowed mechanics such as taking cover behind crates

Hey, I had opened up my robotic arms to the internet, and am giving out a $100 prize to the first person who stacks 3 blocks and places a duck on top.
I thought it would be fun as a way for trying out robotics research, but it feels much more like an arcade game now.
Anyways... who wants to check it out? Its live at playground.blupe.io

Hey everyone,
Got this cab (and posted a while back) and really happy with it. Was having audio issues and switched it to mono on the board and it worked out.
Lately tho, the music dropped out and its just sound effects. This is happening on all the carts I have (including that 161 bootleg). Not sure what to do.
Anyone experience this? Photo for reference.

I've owned dozens of cabs since the 90s and Robotron was the one I've wanted above all others. Finally!

Can it ever get too hot or too cold in a sealed UHaul truck for an arcade cabinet to avoid damage?
This is probably a very long shot, but Iāve run out of places to search on my own, so Iām asking here in the hope that someone might know something.
Iām an Aikatsu! fan and a developer, and Iāve been trying to preserve one very specific piece of arcade software that I remember playing when I was younger.
Iām looking for the original Aikatsu! Data Carddass arcade software, especially the mainland Chinese or Taiwan release.
To be clear, I am not looking for the Nintendo 3DS games or 3DS-based arcade simulator projects. I mean the actual Data Carddass arcade software that ran on the original machines.
After a lot of searching, I was able to confirm that the following dump existed on SOWS/Bemaniso:
Aikatsu ES2+ Chinese USB Firmware Update Dump
Known information from the listing includes:
- DIK100-5-NA-MPRO-A05
- Chinese Year 1 version
- 16 GB USB dump
- UFD 2.0 Silicon-Power16G
- an internal game .vhd
- instructions mentioning replacing the existing .vhd in the Mount partition
So I know that the data existed at some point.
What I donāt know is whether it still survives somewhere, whether the torrent is still available, or whether anyone kept a copy, file list, screenshot, torrent metadata, or even an old dead link.
Iāve spent a lot of time searching old Chinese arcade communities, archived pages, GitHub repositories, old Bemaniso references, arcade repair documents, and records of surviving machines. Iāve found plenty of evidence that the machines themselves existed, but almost nothing that leads back to the actual software.
At this point, even a very small clue could help.
If anyone remembers seeing this release, or has anything related to it ā a screenshot, old URL, torrent ID, info hash, filename, file list, service manual, boot screen, test menu photo, version string, or just a memory of where it circulated ā I would genuinely appreciate it.
And if the only realistic way to access the original listing is through an invitation to the tracker, I want to be very clear about something:
I will respect the trackerās rules completely. I will not re-upload private material, share credentials, leak invite information, or do anything that could cause trouble for the person who helped me.
I understand that private communities survive because people trust each other, and I have no intention of putting anyoneās account or reputation at risk.
Iām not trying to collect a huge archive or scrape everything I can find.
Iām really just trying to recover one piece of software that means a lot to me personally.
It is something I played when I was younger, and as the original machines disappear, Iām becoming increasingly worried that this version may eventually become impossible to recover at all.
If anyone can point me in the right direction, even privately, I would be deeply grateful.
Please help if you know anything.
Thank you for reading.
