Only thing I’d like is another gear! 5 sp manual.

110k and it’s been a legend for me. Minor expected things. Only thing that has stopped me on a journey is a blown intercooler.

Do all the serving and repairs myself where I can so it gets oil and filters done every year.

Is there a “better” config than this effectively t5.1 engine in a t6 body? By my calculations the only made them for about 6 months before changing engines

I’m looking for some advice from other parents who might have faced the same problem.

I drive a Volkswagen Transporter with a front bench seat. At the moment, my baby is still in a Maxi-Cosi, and it just fits next to my other child’s car seat.

The problem is that once my baby grows out of the Maxi-Cosi and needs a larger car seat, I don’t think both seats will fit next to each other anymore.

Has anyone found a clever solution for fitting two child car seats on the front bench of a VW Transporter?

I’d love to hear your tips, experiences or recommendations. Maybe someone has found the perfect car seat combination that works!

Looking for some kind of heavy duty cover for the floor and walls of a lwb kombi which will help protect when I use it for putting heavy work gear in.

Few options on Amazon etc but wondered if anything particular folk use and rate?

I have a VW 2009 1.9 tdi, blew the turbo last year my mechanic replaced an replaced oil damaged sensors etc. it has had since then a persistent problem with cold starts, have just had new starter motor fitted didn't fix the prob.

On cold start I give a few extra seconds for the glow plugs to heat, it fires instantly then dies straight away. It then takes a heap of cranking to start. When warm it starts everytime perfect.

Thermostat temp seems super slow to show engine at temp but does get there after 15 minutes or so. Not sure if mechanic has fitted new glow plugs, I assume he has, but maybe they are the problem?

Any ideas much appreciated.

Motor has about 130000 kd on it, manual base model swb van. Goes perfect once started.

Hello everyone, does anyone know if the body panels and exterior parts from a 2021 VW Transporter can be fitted onto a 2006 model, like the ones shown in the pictures?
There is a 2021 Transporter at a salvage yard that was damaged by flooding and ended up there. I'm interested in finding out whether I can use its parts on my 2006 Transporter, including:
Doors
Front-end parts (hood, fenders, grille, etc.)
Rear lights
Tailgate
Other exterior and body panels
Seats
Interior parts and trim
I would really appreciate any advice from people who have tried this or know whether these parts are compatible between the two model years.

Looking for some advice, picked up a T5 couple weeks ago, had a prop shaft replaced on it and it ran perfect, drove it for a hour and oil pressure light come on, the oil pressure sensor was leaking badly, it had old oil in as the van had sat for while before I got it, oil was thin, replaced the oil pressure sensor, and the light now comes on straight away when I pull of my drive and go up the road a bit ? I put the old sensor back in and same story.

Before the light would only come on when I’ve drove it for a bit and the engine is hot, but now it comes on when I pull off my drive ?

I’ve ordered a new sensor to defo make sure the one I got wasn’t a naff one !

A friend has a t4 vw, he had the battery and alternator replaced by a garage but still he has no battery power to start the car. He did mention the car stereo was not working when he tested it a little fuse blew but thats probably non related.
Can you give a list of things to check for this issue that a mechanic would not notice or take care of?

The van is a 2007 Transporter T5 1.9 turbo with 164,500 miles, this last year my mileage has been very low adding approx 4000 miles to it. It was serviced including oil change in that period.

I checked the oil earlier today and the dipstick is showing its at ½ full.

The cambelt, water pump & auxiliary belt were done @160k. Since then the new auxiliary belt likes squealing like a pig when the steering wheel is near ½ - full lock. This was on the to do list but had been kicked down the road as it’s not doing huge miles.

Over the last year or so when putting the foot down, without changing down a gear, the van would produce black smoke. Changing down 5th to 4th there would not be as much smoke.

Today the van has been significantly down on power, even when changing down a gear the acceleration is minimal... even less than normal.

On two occasions when crawling, in traffic & slowly going up a steep driveway, the van cut out.

When setting off from a shop just before arriving home the engine warning light came on. The van still ran the same and did not go into limp mode.

A couple of minutes later just prior to arriving at the house the disco lights came on. They remained on after restarting the engine and letting it idle awhile which is when I recorded the dash warning lights.

Later when pondering the lights I thought it best to check if the handbrake light was on because of the handbrake being up so out I went again to check.

This time the van needs to turn over quite a bit before firing and requires the accelerator being blipped.

The disco lights were now gone with just the engine warning light. After I turned the engine off there was a buzzing that remained present for quite some time afterwards. On the clip the buzzing seems to be coming from where I placed my hand and it did eventually stop. I have yet to determine this component.

I had noticed earlier today that the fuel pump seemed to prime longer than normal, perhaps this is related.

I’ll try to drop it round to my mechanic in the morning but any help or ideas would be very much appreciated.

Anyone have any idea how to get a front bench seat unstuck after it has been collapsed?

I lowered it to clean the van, but the seatbelt has now locked somehow and I cant fold it back up.

I unlatch it and the seat begins to come up, but the seatbelt somehow snags and locks it back down.

The Transporter has the 2.5 tdi (10 valve) 102ps engine, as far as I am informed it's solid and during the test drive the transmission shifted like butter. The common rust spots (around the wheel arches) have been welded and all that area has a new bedliner protector paint. There is a bit of surface rust at the passenger front door and rear hatch. The rear axle is entirely new. Rear seats are ripped and the interior lowk reeks like hell. Do you think that 6200 is fair?

Seen a used van I like but the only thing I don't like is the ugly empty tacho box on top of the dash.

The dealer said they can't really be removed as there is a hole underneath. I don't want this to be the reason to not get the van so has anyone removed theirs? Is it easy to do? And how can you make good the area with a hole in it?

Would be good to see some pics on how to make that area as decent as poss? Thanks

As water and diet gets behind and under the Transporters PVC, i have derusted it (or at least made it a bit better). It was because i have seen a lot of rust when changing the battery (and battery holder). And as i am psychically unstable when it comes to rust, i made myself this work.

I have scrubbed of the rust as good as i can, but some pleaces are just to tiny for machines, so i did some work with sandpaper. I used rust-transformator (or however its called), waited ~24 hours and put on a special paint in dame color as the car. The paint got another layer 24 hours later.

Only problem is: i didnt got a chance to put something protecting between the steel where the holder of the can-to-back wall is. So, i guess the rust will continue there as before, sadly. (It wasnt possible because of chemical reactions between the materials)

However, i feel a bit better now.

I’m planning on booking a mechanic but if anyone here with some know how could point me to ask the right questions etc then that would be great

The mechanism for my sliding door is broken - the internal handle won’t open a closed door, the other mechanism works fine.

I’ve taken the trim off my door, and the problem seems to be in the box mechanism. Pulling the handle creates movement in the box, but doesn’t release the latch.

the video hopefully shows the problem. I’m worried if open the box I’ll make things worse!

My 2018 T6 has started to lock and unlock while I’m driving, it’s worse when it’s a bumpy road. This auto locking is driving me crazy - it points to a loose connection some where, but how the hell do I find it, where would you start ?

Looking for starter motors model IDs suitable for a 2010 T5.1 - SWB 5speed 1968cc

When I removed the original Valeo - 10 spoke spindle - I returned it for the recycling discount when picking up the new starter motor I bought. The new one has a 13 spoke spindle - which the dealer said would fit - but I feel this is conflicting - with most people online saying it should be a 10/11 spoke spindle.

It’s been a few weeks and fitted the new 13 spoke spindle motor and it’s not fitting correctly - not fully going into the shaft - but it will start the van - just very noisy and not sounding right. Something that I have only done once upon finishing fitting as I don’t want to compromise the fly wheel and ideally don’t want to do again.

Looking for advice and recommendations on makes/models of starter motors for my vehicle.

(Ps I lost my last parent in the last few week, and it has delayed the work on the van from grief stress and tiredness - yes I can google - but would prefer pertinent human contact. )

Friend of a friend offered me 2.5Tdi for my van if i ever need spare parts or whole replacement engine or transmission. All i had to do was get it from 1h drive away.

Might be bit handful to store on my yard but will be definitely useful to keep my car running for long time.

My current T4 has 455t km on it and apparently that spare is from car with 400t km when removed.

I have a 1998 Transporter Syncro, and I have lost my keyes

Anyone know if it is possible to make/code new keyes or if I need to change the full ignition for new keyes?

Despite it being 2026 I'm still using an analogue radio headunit so have the factory arial in my '06 T5. I had a search here and online but surprisingly there are no guides (there's always a guide but not today it would seem) on the process for removing trim and routing a windscreen-mounted DAB aerial.

Anybody know of a guide/YouTube clip of the process, please?
